Responsibilities:
Individual will serve as a Project Engineer within the Construction Materials Testing Department. Specific engineering and project management tasks will include, but not be limited to, oversight of inspections and testing of soils (evaluation of soil bearing capacity and density); reinforced concrete and masonry; modular retaining wall construction, structural steel inspections, evaluation of laboratory data; inspection of shallow and deep foundation installation; and monitoring of asphalt placement.

Pay Range:
$40 - 55/hr, depending on experience
The CivilEngineer will be working on state-of-the-art industrial facility projects.
Site development, site master planning and site selection.
Performing final grading plans using Civil 3D including cut and fill analysis and earthwork balancing.
Providing erosion and sediment control plans, stormwater pollution prevention plans and support permit approval.
Hydrology analysis for designing storm drain systems.
Underground utility routing and site space planning using Civil 3D.
Analyzing and designing gravity sewer systems.
Researching and adhering to local Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) requirements for design and construction in any given area.
Stormwater analysis and modeling in software applications, such as StormCAD, CivilStorm.
Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering
EIT OR PE license
Strong working knowledge and experience in analyzing and designing all aspects of medium to large scale industrial developments
Demonstrated experience with all design modules of AutoCAD Civil 3D used in sitework design and drawing production
Experience with Navisworks and Bluebeam
Strong analytical, problem-solving and interpersonal skills
Ability to collaborate and work effectively in a variety of teams, including multi-disciplinary teams
Displayed ability to learn quickly and driven to broaden knowledge base
Excellent written and verbal communication skills

S&ME's Spark Internship Program is open to current students from a variety of different educational backgrounds and career focus. Internship opportunities are available across our various Service Lines including: CivilEngineering, Construction Services and Materials Testing, Environmental Services and Industrial Hygiene, Geotechnical Engineering, and Transportation Design-Build.
As part of the 2026 Spark Internship Program, you will work alongside experienced professional and technical employee-owners within your area of interest. You will be a part of an intern cohort and will learn about all aspects of S&ME. S&ME's internship will provide you with invaluable hands on experience, access to technical experts across the company, as well as provide professional development to help you transition from campus to career and find success in our industry.
Qualifications:
Enrolled in a related degree program; Rising Juniors, Seniors, or Graduate students preferred;
Related experience and/or campus, community, work-related leadership experience preferred;
At least 18 years of age;
Out of town travel may be required;
