Maintain neat and clean uniforms when on duty. Project a positive image for the school district with all district employees, whenever the public, guests, or visitors are in the building. Maintain proper and neat storage areas for custodial supplies and equipment in the area of the building assigned. Maintain building and grounds security by opening/closing the building each school day and during special events as directed. Assist the principal, building foreman, or working leader in performing custodial jobs when requested. Maintain good sanitary conditions of building facilities. Make arrangements for use of school facilities by non-school groups as indicated on building use requests. Cooperate with all groups, in a pleasant and courteous manner, that use the building after regular school hours. Report problems noted in the building to foreman, working leader or principal. Must have knowledge of the operation of mechanical, electrical and heating units in the building. Must be familiar with the proper operation and care of custodial mechanical equipment. Must have knowledge of institution cleaning procedures. Maintain playground equipment in safe and good operating condition. Work on call as needed at any time for emergency repairs, overtime, or special needs falling outside the normal work hours. Other duties as assigned. Let's just jump into the bad news so we don't waste anyone's time. The pay sucks. Meaning, you're not going to get rich off this job. Starting pay, while in training is $15 but you can quickly get up to $16 an hour. Do well, and your wages can increase up to an additional $2+/hour from tips. It's extra spending money - that's for sure - however, if you're seeking a job to support a household, then this is likely the “suckiest” job EVER. You will use your own car. You can expect to drive to multiple locations a day - typically 2 to 3 - with mileage reimbursement and paid for drive time.
