Performs a variety of sleep study testing and related procedures. Prepares test results for physician interpretation. Participates in education and training of staff and serves as a resource person. Performs sleep laboratory tests and related procedures.
Provides patient education.
Communicates relevant clinical information to staff and physician(s).
Scores sleep studies accurately.
Schedules patients for testing.

Participates in education and training of staff and serves as a resource person.
Based on principles of growth and development, provides care appropriate to the age related needs of the patients served on his/her assigned unit, which may include:
12-18 Yrs: Adolescents
18-65 Yrs: Adults
65+ Yrs: Geriatrics
Adheres to all safety, infection control and colleague health policies and procedures.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Certificate of graduation from an accredited allied health program or Polysomnography technology program. Iowa license in current field. CRT or RRT preferred. Registered Iowa Polysomnographic Technologist. BLS. Mandatory Reporter. Valid IA driver's license and an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report (MVR). Minimum of one-year acute care experience preferred. Intermediate language, intermediate math, intermediate reasoning ability. Personal computer and database software. Ability to work with diverse groups of people. Ability to work under pressure and with a large degree of independence. Ability to perform unscheduled procedures.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
Normal office environment with variable temperatures and normal office noise level. Physical demands of job are medium with infrequent lifting, pushing and pulling of up to 50 lbs.; mostly sitting with moderate twisting and wrist deviation, frequent pinching, hand wrist repetitions, requires fine motor skills and moderate both handedness. Exposure hazardous material with the use of oxygen under pressure, body fluid pathogen hazard to eye, hand, torso and respiratory. Must possess the ability to comply with Trinity Health policies and procedures.

The Medical Laboratory Supervisor ensures the smooth, efficient operation of a clinical laboratory unit or shift. Performs clinical laboratory analyses on biological specimens to provide information used in the diagnosis, prevention or treatment of disease. Many of these procedures involve numerous highly complex tests and techniques that require the use of professional judgment. Hours: Monday-Friday 6:30-15:00 with weekend and holiday on-call rotations
* Perform Laboratory processes including quantitative and qualitative analyses on clinical specimens
* Serve as the technical expert for patient test result interpretation, specific tasks, work processes and procedures performed
* Communicate and disseminate general information and policy or procedure changes to unit/shift personnel.
* Plan prioritize and direct work activities in the designated unit/shift to ensure smooth and efficient operation.
* Assist with interviewing and selecting new staff. Provide leadership for North Liberty laboratory and phlebotomy staff
* Participate in the review, revision and implementation of SOPs
* Investigate and resolve problems concerning patient testing and procedures. Monitor equipment performance, diagnose instrument problems/malfunctions and make repairs or initiate service requests
* Provide direct supervision of assigned personnel. Participate in conducting performance appraisals and the formal progressive disciplinary process as necessary

BASIC/REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Position Summary
Responsible for laboratory testing, quality control, phlebotomy, instrument maintenance and troubleshooting. Perform manual and automated routine blood tests. Assist in bone marrow biopsy collections.

Summary of Duties of the Medication Technician
The primary responsibilities of the Medication Technician are as follows: 1) Administer or assist with the administration and/or supervision of medications to the residents in a safe, accurate, and timely manner (dependent on State regulations); 2) Provide physical and psychosocial care to all residents in a manner that promotes dignity, choice, and individuality; and 3) Responsible for overseeing the wellness staffing schedule. Administers or assists with or supervises the administration of medications according to the physician order on the medication administration record (MAR).
Documents medications administered on the MAR in accordance with company policy; Checks MARs immediately after administration and prior to end of shift to ensure documentation is complete and accurate.
Conducts change of shift report with oncoming/outgoing shift personnel.
Maintains security of medication cart and narcotic keys during entire shift; Conducts narcotic count at the beginning and end of every shift in accordance with company policies and procedures.
Provides assistance with activities of daily living such as with bathing, dressing, personal hygiene (includes shaving, oral care, nail care, hair care, foot care), toileting, eating, and ambulation/mobility.
Works collaboratively with peers and other team members.
Maintains professional demeanor at all times when interacting with residents and families.
Reports any suspected or witnessed instances of verbal, mental, or physical abuse to licensed staff immediately.
Utilizes safe transfer techniques when assisting residents with mobility.
Observes and reports changes in residents' physical condition and cognitive/emotional status to Wellness Director or charge nurse, as needed.
Assists residents with swallowing difficulty with eating.
Responds to emergencies in a prompt and calm manner; Immediately reports such emergencies to the charge nurse and/or Wellness Director.
Understands and uses Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Standard Precautions, OSHA's Occupational Exposure to Bloodborne Pathogens standard, and follows established infection control procedures, hazardous communication, and other safety rules.
Ensures cleanliness of residents' rooms and promptly reports all violations of safety and sanitation rules to supervisor.
Documents provision of services on company forms.
Operates designated medical equipment, copy, scan, fax machines, and telephone.
Responsible for planning the wellness schedule preferably 1 month in advance but no less than 2 weeks.
Participates in an on-call rotation for staffing needs; Will be responsible for finding coverage for open shifts.
Must be available by phone 24/7 while on-call for staffing needs and able to fill open shift if needed.
Non-Essential Functions of the Medication Technician
Provides all necessary care and services to assigned residents and assists other wellness associates as needed.
Participates in and supports the resident-centered activities program.
Cares for sensory enhancement devices such as eyeglasses and hearing aids.
Completes housekeeping tasks such as bed-making, linen changes, vacuuming, emptying trash, and cleaning bathrooms.
Washes resident's laundry as needed.
Escorts residents and coordinates internal transportation needs.
Assists residents with personal correspondence/telephone use when requested.
Conducts room checks and resident rounds.
Monitors for environmental safety hazards.
Assists in a variety of tasks related to dining (escort residents to dining room, assist with set-up and clean tables, serve meals, bus tables, etc.).
Attends and participates in staff meetings and mandatory in-services.
Uses tactful, diplomatic communication techniques in potentially sensitive or emotionally charged situations.
Follows-up with appropriate staff, residents, or other individuals regarding reported complaints, problems, and concerns.

JOB SUMMARY & RESPONSIBILITIES
The Laboratory Technician is responsible for maintaining a clean, professional and safe working environment in the lab at all times. Team members in this position run multiple tests in accordance to the Standard Operation Procedures (SOP), ensure tests are completed in a timely manner and complete tests in a frequency that is established by the Quality Manager. If any testing results are out of range, it is the responsibility of the Laboratory Technician to report this information to the Quality Manager. This position is largely self-directed and requires understanding company policy, procedures and values.
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 6:30 AM - 3:00 PM
Maintain a clean, professional and safe working environment in the laboratory.
Perform quality control tests on product streams.
Coordinate test results with operators to ensure optimum quality and efficiency.
Maintain laboratory supplies and provide supply orders to the Quality Manager.
Perform tests in accordance with approved POET SOP's and according to the frequency established by the Quality Manager and/or Operations.
Ensure all data is entered in a timely manner.
Ensure all Quality Control Standards, duplicates and cross-validations are completed as established by POET Biorefining standard operating procedure.
Perform NIR IT (PQ) testing on a weekly basis and report any test failures to the Quality Manager.
Notify the Quality Manager when any quality control standards are not within specified limits.
Work with operations on special testing requests.
Must be able to meet call-in requirements as well as work extended hours as necessary.
Foster a culture of safe behavior and environmental compliance at all times.
Maintain a team environment at all times and champion POET in the community.

STRENGTHS OF A SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Experience requirements:
Laboratory Technician I: Basic troubleshooting skills and prior analytical experience required.
Laboratory Technician II: Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Biology, or related science required. May consider POET Laboratory Technician I experience with documented successful performance.
Prior experience with environmental testing and knowledge of cGMP, PI, QC and PQ reporting preferred.
Excellent organizational, time management and communications skills as well as the ability to adapt to change.
You communicate effectively in writing and in person.
You have the ability to understand technical and day to day operation of a bioprocessing facility.
You know the basics of Microsoft Office Suite. You're capable of learning new programs.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Due to the physical and safety sensitive nature of this job, you will be subject to a physical and expected to pass a drug screen during the pre-screen process. During employment, you'll be subject to random drug and alcohol testing.
This role has some physical requirements that our team members will need to be able to perform, such as:
Wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, gloves, safety glasses, steel-toed boots, self-contained breathing system (may be site specific), hazardous material suit, hearing protection.
Working at extreme heights (approximately 150 ft), in confined spaces, and in extreme temperatures from -20 to +100 degrees Fahrenheit, both indoors and outdoors.
Must be able to use the following equipment/tools, with training provided (not all encompassing): forklift, power washer, pallet jack, hoist systems, scissor lifts, JLG lifts, telehandlers, Front End Loaders, various hand tools, and computers.

Carry to up to 15lbs
Stand indoors to clean and maintain areas
Reach at arm's length to gather samples
Bend while standing
Use repetitive arm motions to wipe down and maintain work area

WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position is largely self-directed and requires a thorough understanding of company policy. Team members will be required to adhere to all safety requirements in all work environments. This position operates in multiple work environments, including a plant environment, a laboratory environment, as well as an office environment. In the lab, the team member will work with a range of analytical instrumentation, multiple chemical reagents and perform various wet chemistry tests. In the office, the team member will work on a personal computer. In the plant environment, the team member may be exposed to noise, heat, and other elements both inside and outside. While performing the duties of this position, the team member will be exposed to moving, mechanical parts, dusty conditions, high noise levels, internal and external temperature/weather conditions, and exposed to chemicals.
