The entire frame work for creating these custom tests is developed using a SMT solver and custom software code to guide the solution space into templated scenarios. Basic Qualifications

Role:
This position is responsible for working with the Laboratory and Medical Directors to ensure the quality of laboratory testing in accordance with established policies and procedures and CAP/COLA/CLIA standards. Job Summary: The Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) performs chemical analyses of specimens to determine presence of normal and abnormal components. The Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) compiles data from various routine to complex medical laboratory tests, procedures, and analyses for diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease. The Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) performs assigned tasks for all patient populations and works within one or more designated departments including Chemistry; Hematology; Microbiology/Immunology/Serology; Stat Laboratory; and/or Transfusion Services.
Essential Job Functions & Accountabilities:
* Conducts routine to complex laboratory tests and analyses of patient specimens (e.g., body fluids, such as blood, urine, and spinal fluid, etc.) for use in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases and to determine presence of normal and abnormal components.
* Determines the acceptability of patient samples for analysis. Prepares patient samples in accordance with industry standard methods.
* Performs calibration and preventive maintenance procedures and verifies the acceptability of Quality Control values prior to analyzing patient samples.
* Prepares slides as necessary for microscopic analysis. Adds reagents or indicator solutions, and subjects specimens for processing and analysis.
* Analyzes patient samples and evaluates the reliability of test results according to age, gender and specimen acceptability criteria prior to releasing information for use in patient care and treatment.
* Performs Laboratory and Hospital Information System (LIS/HIS) computer functions involved in pre-analytic, analytic and post-analytic processes.
* Effectively troubleshoots and carries out preventative maintenance on equipment in the assigned area of responsibility. Reports concerns as necessary.
* Complies with all Federal, State and Local regulatory requirements relative to health care delivery.
* Participates in assigned proficiency surveys, performance improvement activities, and mandatory continuing education programs as requested and/or required.
* Provides technical guidance, training, and/or orientation to new employees and students.
* Performs special collection procedures, development of procedures, inventory, and record keeping, as assigned or required.

Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Physical, Biological or Clinical Laboratory Science; or Medical Technology from an accredited college or university.
* Documented evidence that meets qualifications as established by the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendment of 1988 (CLIA '88) are met.
* Must obtain one of the following certifications through the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or American Medical Technologists (AMT) within 1 year of employment:
* Medical Technologist (MT); OR
* Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS); OR
* Certified Laboratory Scientist (CLS); OR
* Specialty certification within a related discipline.
Preferred Qualifications:
* 1 plus years of experience performing a variety of routine to complex laboratory analysis.

In This Role:
You will be using automated analyzers, microscopes and other laboratory diagnostic tools to perform analyses and tests that diagnose animal illnesses, injuries and diseases in support of veterinarian animal treatment.
You will be performing diagnostic tests on blood, urine, fecal or pet biopsy samples that we receive in our lab by the thousands, every day.
You will be responsible for setting up and running lab tests and reading and releasing results according to SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures).
You can expect to specialize in one or more of the following areas:
Hematology:
Testing cell-related components of blood samples to enumerate and identify their cellular components, including the microscopic evaluation of blood smears and the use of automated and manual counting techniques.
Chemistry / Endocrinology:
Testing blood and body fluids for various analytes, utilizing automated instrumentation.
Urinalysis:
Analysis and evaluation of chemical and microscopic components of urine samples, using automated instrumentation and manual techniques.
Cytology:
Processing blood and body fluids for microscopic examination by pathologists. Includes slide preparation and staining, utilizing manual and automated counting techniques.
Immunology / Serology:
Testing blood and other samples for the presence of viral and bacterial disease by detecting antibodies (AB) or antigens (AG).
What You'll Need to Succeed:
You have a clinical pathology skillset-either in veterinary or human laboratory setting
Hematology, Chemistry, Urinalysis, Serology skillset
You have a strong veterinary laboratory skillset
A 2-, 3- or 4-year degree in a Science-related field is preferred.
It is not required to work in our lab, but if you were a Veterinary Technician (RVT, LVT, CVT) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT or MT), this experience and education would be a plus.
Ideally, you will have experience setting up, running, and reading lab tests, and operating laboratory equipment (microscopes, pipetting and / or clinical diagnostic analyzers).
