Monitors supply/reagent inventory and uses laboratory resources efficiently. Documents receipt and opening of a supply. Monitors expiration dates of all supplies and ensures adequate supplies are on hand. Understands and complies with standards and conditions set forth by various governmental and accrediting agencies in assigned operational area. Performs competency assessments following regulatory standards. Assumes responsibility for operation of the section in absence of supervisor and serves as General Supervisor or Technical Consultant. Instructs students, new team members, laboratory support staff, and hospital personnel in procedure, technique, and theory. Maintains a safe and clean working environment and responds immediately to safety violations. Uses the correct policies and procedures in the collection, labelling, handling and processing of all specimens. Verifies identification of the patient, specimen, and results. Evaluates specimen integrity based on department standard operating procedures (SOPs). Recognizes customer satisfaction issues and responds/escalates appropriately. Minimum Qualifications Education - Bachelor's degree in chemical, biological, clinical or medical laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited institution. Experience - Two (2) years of technical experience post training in high and moderate complexity testing. Job Summary: The Medical Laboratory Tech analyzes biological samples in the laboratory. The Medical Laboratory Scientist provides precise and accurate laboratory test results and relays information to the clinical staff to assist in diagnosis and treatment. * Collect, prepare, store and/or transport specimens using correct techniques, anticoagulants, and protocol while adhering to Service Excellence standards of Courtesy, Privacy, Respect, Dignity, and Responsiveness/Customer Waiting. * Organize and perform analysis of specimens to include quality control while evaluating validity of results obtained. * Follows all safety procedures and protocols. * Performs routine and pre-routine maintenance. * Train and document proficiency of assigned employees/students as directed. * Receive incoming phone calls, documents incoming request for blood to be drawn and follow through on collection as outlines in our service excellence standards, telephone communication, personal ownership, and service recovery. * Assist in maintaining supplies. * Coordinate daily technical activities and ensure tests are complete and accurate in a timely manner by reviewing worksheets, pending logs, and uncollected lists. * Other duties as assigned. The Onsite Laboratory Technician performs laboratory tests for our client Oceana Gold to determine chemical and physical characteristics or composition of solid or liquid materials for process or quality control purposes, by performing the following duties. • Prepares a representative subsample from client sample that meets specific requirements using defined methods (Dry, Crush, Pulverize, Pressure Filter, Mix, Riffle Split, etc.). • Weighs and tests samples on relevant equipment. • Weighs and digest samples for analysis using relevant equipment. • Accurately completes and maintains all laboratory reports. • Receives, sorts and logs client samples into the data base, and prepares samples' labels. • Archives, returns, or disposes of client samples as per established procedure. • Performs daily, weekly, and monthly Quality Assurance/Quality Control checks on equipment. • Demonstrates good and safe work habits and enforces a clean working environment. • Performs general upkeep and housekeeping of the laboratory. • Ensures all equipment and containers are organized and cleaned before and after use • Ensures all personal protective equipment (PPE) relevant for tasks is worn at all times. • Ensures compliance with all required local and federal safety processes and procedures. • May also have preparation or field responsibilities, as required by business needs. Qualifications EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE • High School diploma or equivalent Required • 2+ years working in Industrial set up or Field Services setting Required • Water Laboratory only: Where required by the state law, Post-secondary (Associate or Bachelor's) degree in science, or minimum 1-year supervised water testing experience Required • Associate degree in or including some Science Preferred • 4+ years working in industrial/lab/field setting with experience following strict safety standards Preferred LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS • A valid and current Driver's license may be required if the role requires driving a company vehicle. Operates and properly maintains precision measuring equipment. Notifies appropriate personnel of dimensional discrepancies as they occur. Utilizes and understands blueprints and specifications as related to physical and dimensional properties. Performs process inspections in the molding area; performs molding related projects, as necessary. Evaluates data and prepares necessary reports.
