Emory Medical Laboratory's mission is to transform health and healing by providing high quality, cost-effective, innovative laboratory services which enhance patient health. We're seeking a certified Cytotechnologist II who will support Emory Healthcare's mission of clinical care, education, and research by demonstrating the core values of excellence, caring, and integrity. This individual:
Prepares and stains cytologic material for routine procedures; evaluates examination results for validity and reports results as prescribed by standard procedures.
May prepare specimens for cytopathologic examination.
Evaluates cytologic material for carcinoma or other diagnoses and completes all daily assigned screening.
Reviews quality of staining and the adequacy of the specimen to support an adequate diagnosis.
In complex cases, evaluates all information available and determines whether analysis results should be released, repeated, or referred to a pathologist.
Assists the Pathologist and Radiologist on fine needle aspiration biopsy procedures and is competent in giving an adequacy assessment.
Performs other related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in medical technology, clinical lab science or a chemical, physical or biological science.
Other bachelors degree will be accepted if graduated from an accredited school of cytotechnology or if science and math coursework meet requirement of certifying agency.
Education Exception: Bachelors degree may be waived for a Cytotechnolgist who was ASCP certified in the years prior to the bachelors degree requirement by ASCP and a HEW/HHS technologist certified by Health and Human Services.
At least two years of experience. Experience in Gynecological, Non-gynecological and FNA cytology preferred.
Certification as CT (ASCP) by the American Society for Clinical Pathology which meets Georgia's Department of Human Resources requirements.

Essential Work Functions:
Prepare and position patients for cardiac catheterization, angioplasty, stent placement, electrophysiology studies, and other interventional procedures
Assist physicians during procedures by passing catheters, wires, balloons, and stents, and operating fluoroscopy and hemodynamic monitoring equipment
Operate and maintain imaging equipment, contrast injectors, and hemodynamic monitoring systems, ensuring proper functionality
Scrub in and assist with sterile field setup, ensuring adherence to infection control and procedural protocols
Perform sheath removal and hemostasis using manual compression or closure devices as directed
Maintain accurate documentation, including patient records, imaging data, and equipment logs
Assist with inventory management, stocking supplies, and ensuring proper storage of sterile instruments and medications
Adhere to radiation safety protocols, ensuring proper use of lead aprons, shields, and dosimeters
Ensure compliance with hospital policies, safety guidelines, and regulatory requirements
