This position is assigned to the Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Service at the Carl Vinson VA Medical Center in Dublin, Georgia. The Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) at this level independently carries out the day-to-day operations in the laboratory. The CLS develops, performs, evaluates, interprets, correlates, and validates the accuracy of laboratory procedures and results in line with current laboratory regulatory requirements.
* Evaluates the suitability of the specimen for analysis, requesting new specimen if determined to be unusable.
* Prepare specimens for analysis, ensuring physiologic state of the specimen properties is maintained.
* Recognize and react to indicators of malfunction; implement corrections.
* Conduct quality control procedures on equipment, reagents, and products and maintain proper records for quality control reports.
* Calibrate, standardize, adjust, and maintain instruments.
* Evaluate the validity of data in relation to the test system and accepted assay procedures.
* Perform additional tests to clarify or confirm abnormal patient results.
* Recognize critical tests and results that require immediate attention by the physician and report them timely and accordingly to established procedures.

Required Work Experience:
Three (3) to five (5) years of clinical experience as a Medical Technologist within the designated discipline.

The Medical Technologist Specialist is the technical expert in their assigned section 24/7. Primary responsibilities include training and competency evaluation of staff and quality control of test reporting, monitoring instrument function, maintenance, troubleshooting and relevant issues. Summary/Objective:
The medical technologist position is responsible for conducting laboratory tests which provide information to physicians for the diagnosis, prevention, or treatment of diseases in patients.
Required Education and Experience:
Minimum Bachelors' degree in Medical Technology, clinical laboratory, chemical, physical, or biological science.
Associate degree in chemical, physical, or biological science, or medical laboratory technology.
High school graduate or equivalent and laboratory training/experience consisting of the following:

Operates and maintains laboratory instrumentation.
Logs performance of equipment, including daily temperature checks.
Assesses any equipment malfunction and uses appropriate action/protocols to correct.
Orders, evaluates, records, and prints test results using lab computer. Executes procedures for ordering, processing, and reporting reference lab specimens.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:
Evaluating laboratory operations consulting with pathologists; reporting results according to protocols mandated by the hospital and public health department
Ensuring maintenance of medical laboratory equipment performance by developing operations, quality, and troubleshooting procedures; ensuring staff compliance; certifying instrument performance; arranging equipment replacement, service, and repair
Maintaining medical laboratory supplies inventory, determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies
Maintaining laboratory productivity, monitoring workload, identifying peak and slack periods
Participating in the hospital quality assurance program; consulting with pathologists; performing proficiency surveys; reviewing QC & QA programs
Maintaining medical laboratory staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, training employees, counseling, reviewing/evaluating and disciplining employees as needed
Complying with state and professional continuing education licensure requirements
Contributing to benchwork as needed
Education, Certification, & Experience:
Bachelor's degree in biology
M(ASCP) or MLS(ASCP) or equivalent certification
Two (2) years as lead or supervisor
Must be legally authorized to work in the US without sponsorship.

Under general supervision, the Instructional Aide assists instructors with providing education and\/or training to technical college students. Assists faculty with laboratory and classroom safety and management, including monitoring students in the classroom, labs, dual enrollment, and\/or telepresence learning environment. Provides substitute teaching coverage as needed. Completes all assignments in a timely manner and maintains accurate records. Maintain qualifications for employment as described by the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) Policy Manual and accreditation standards. Follows rules and regulations as described by the TCSG Policy Manual and other policies and procedures established by the institution. Position reports to the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs.

Position is projected to serve CGTC's northern counties of Baldwin, Putnam, and\/or Jones with travel to other college campus locations as needed, including dual enrollment high school sites. This position is scheduled to work all 12 calendar months per year and at a maximum of 29 hours per week.

BenefitsSalary \/ Benefits:
Projected annual gross salary of $15 per hour. May include additional stipends for orientation and trainings, etc. This is a part\-time position scheduled to work 12\-months a year and maximum of 29 hours per week and does not imply or suggest a promise of future full\-time employment. CGTC is a member of Teachers Retirement System of Georgia (TRS) and Employees Retirement System of Georgia (ERS).
