As a CAD Designer, you will be responsible for creating detailed 3D models and drawings, supporting product development, and contributing to design improvements. You will collaborate with engineers, manufacturing teams, and external partners to bring innovative furniture solutions to life.
So, what will you be doing as a CAD Designer?
* Design robust, parametric 3D models to support new product development.
* Build complete assembly structures based on engineering bills of material (BOM).
* Develop technical 2D drawings (parts and assemblies) in compliance with L&P drafting standards.
* Revise existing CAD data (2D and 3D) to support engineering change activities.
* Audit 2D drawings to ensure compliance with internal standards.
* Participate in internal and external design review meetings.
* Accurately log work hours and manage individual workload to meet deadlines.
* Communicate potential delays proactively to team members.
* Facilitate data exchange with customers and suppliers for quoting, reviews, and approvals.
* Support other departments with CAD-relates tasks as needed.
* Domestic travel up to 10% may be required.
To be successful in this role, you'll need:
* Completion of a community college program, technician/technologist diploma, or equivalent.
* 3+ years of CAD design experience- ideally in furniture, product, or mechanical design.
* Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks preferred), drawing creation, and basic FEA.
* Practical experience in a manufacturing environment
* Strong attention to detail, communication skills, and ability to manage multiple projects.

Working Environment
Most of this role is performed in a professional temperature-controlled office environment when not working from a home office, remotely, or onsite at a project location.
Additionally, this role is required to attend site visits. During site visits, there may be exposure to a variety of environmental conditions, such as being outdoors, being in indoor non-temperature-controlled environments, and maneuvering into tight spaces to scan existing electrical power and lighting systems. During site visits, you will work long days (10-12 hours) to complete 3d scanning jobs at client locations. These are typically week-long trips and happen 3- 4x per calendar year.

Work Environment
This position primarily operates in a professional office setting with standard office equipment and a quiet, climate-controlled environment. While in the office, there is no regular exposure to loud noise, hazardous materials, or heavy machinery.

During site visits, the employee may be exposed to non-temperature-controlled environments, construction noise, dust, and other typical conditions found on job sites. Work Environment
The role is based in an engineering building, working alongside other engineers.
The work primarily involves designing at a cubicle with some interaction on the shop floor to ensure accuracy and troubleshoot.
The project team comprises 10 engineers, including functional leads and mentors.
The work schedule is four 10-hour days, Monday to Thursday, from 6am to 4pm.

Work with CAD designer to create drawings while verifying the accuracy of the drawings.
Work closely with application and test engineers on DVP&R development and execution.
Performa data and part analysis and accurate reporting of testing(s).
Participate in design reviews to ensure accurate tolerance stacks are prepared both for dimensional and geometric tolerances', that appropriate modeling has been performed with acceptable results, lessons learned are reviewed, and design guidelines are used.
Work with the team to ensure that the product design meets the cost target.
Ensure that the product design meets the intended function defined by the customer specification.
Ensure that the base-level mechanical, electrical, magnetic, hydraulic and pneumatics physics are understood, modeled, and validated for the product design.
Ensure that a thorough and accurate DFMEA is prepared early in the development process and actively participate in DFEMAs.
Ensure that the product design meets the cost target set forth by the customer.
Ensure that the materials used in the product design are appropriate for the application and do not violate any customer requirements.
Ensure that the Account Manager, Mfg. Engineer, and Quality Engineer are involved early in the development process.
Ensure that DFM and DFA techniques are employed early in the development process.
Plan and Execute Design of Experiments (DOE) as necessary to support root-cause analysis.
Analyze test data to determine if design meets functional and performance specifications.
Work closely with Test Engineers to ensure that all aspects of test development are in agreement with customer specification
What will make you successful:
