Product Designer II
Computer aided design designer job in Overland Park, KS
Are you looking to join one of the Kansas City's fastest growing companies?
Lula is looking for a Product Designer II to join our growing team!
Lula is a multi sided property maintenance platform that coordinates residents, property managers, internal coordinators, and service professionals. Our mission is to simplify and orchestrate the full maintenance lifecycle across a complex and fragmented ecosystem.
Lula's products are built around intelligence, automation, and human centered design. AI is embedded into our product design DNA and plays a central role in how workflows are prioritized, automated, and optimized. Foresight, our AI powered internal coordination platform, uses machine intelligence to assist with triage, scheduling, prioritization, insights, and quality control, helping teams move from reactive work to proactive operations.
We are designing the future of operational software where human judgment and machine intelligence work together to reduce friction, increase clarity, and improve outcomes across every surface of the platform.
Lula Core Values
We are customer obsessed.
We think differently.
We hustle.
We finish what we start.
We care for one another.
The Role
We are hiring a Product Designer II to own and improve AI enhanced Core platform workflows across multiple surfaces. This role focuses on complex, operational experiences that span desktop and mobile touch points and intersect directly with AI powered decision making.
This is not a production only role. You will own features end to end, work through ambiguity, and help define how AI driven insights and automation are presented, understood, and trusted by users. You will partner closely with Product and Engineering to design workflows where automation feels clear, predictable, and empowering rather than opaque or confusing.
What You'll Do
Own AI powered Core workflows across surfaces
Own medium to large Core platform features across multiple surfaces
Design end to end workflows spanning desktop and mobile contexts
Design interaction models that integrate AI driven recommendations, scoring, automation, and insights
Ensure AI assistance is understandable, contextual, and actionable within workflows
Maintain UX consistency across related experiences, not just individual screens
Partner closely with Product and Engineering
Collaborate with PMs to clarify problems, constraints, and success criteria
Translate loosely defined or AI driven concepts into clear, executable designs
Partner with engineers to understand data, models, and system constraints
Write detailed annotations, interaction logic, edge cases, and AI behavior expectations
Participate in live handoffs and support implementation through QA
Apply and strengthen the design system
Apply Lula's design system consistently across Core surfaces
Identify gaps or inconsistencies, especially related to AI patterns and states
Avoid one off solutions that increase fragmentation
Partner with senior designers on system and pattern improvements
Improve design quality and process
Reduce design to dev back and forth through clearer documentation
Catch UX issues early and propose thoughtful improvements
Contribute to a predictable, repeatable design workflow
Help establish consistent patterns for AI feedback, confidence, and error states
What Success Looks Like
Within six months, this role is successful if:
Core workflows ship with fewer UX issues and less rework
Engineers trust designs and documentation enough to build confidently
AI powered features feel intuitive, transparent, and trustworthy to users
UX consistency improves across Core surfaces and AI driven interactions
PMs and stakeholders have clearer alignment around design intent
What We're Looking For
Required
3 to 6 years of product design experience
Experience designing complex, multi surface or cross device workflows
Experience with internal tools, operational platforms, or data heavy systems
Comfort working through ambiguity and incomplete requirements
Strong collaboration skills with Product and Engineering
Clear communication of design decisions, tradeoffs, and intent
Strong Plus
Experience designing AI assisted or automation driven workflows
Familiarity with designing for recommendations, scoring, predictions, or system intelligence
Experience working with design systems and component driven workflows
Experience supporting design through development and QA
Interest in shaping how AI and humans work together
Growth Path
This role is designed to grow into a Senior Product Designer position as Lula scales. As you build confidence owning complex AI driven workflows, you will have opportunities to take on larger scope, more ambiguous problem spaces, and greater influence across the platform.
What This Role is Not
Not a junior or production only design role
Not a single screen or single platform role
Not a design system owner role
Not a people management role
This role is about owning complex, AI powered workflows, bringing clarity to automation, and designing systems people can trust.
