CAD Designer Summary:
Performs a wide variety of duties to develop and produce detailed drawings, prints, and / or plans for tooling and equipment used in the manufacturing process. Duties include utilizing CAD system to produce models and prints, acting as a liaison with engineering and customer, maintaining hardcopy archives, files and other similar duties pertaining to the development of product prints/plans. CAD Designer Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
* Develops detailed tooling and / or equipment design drawings.
* Works from concept sketches / drawings, samples and / or R&D plans.

* Produces product print plans for customer approval.
* Produces drawings for tooling changes or modifications from engineering change requests.
* Downloads / uploads electronic files and forwards them to the customers or vendors.

Zulu Pods is seeking an experienced mechanical design engineer in our Northampton, Massachusetts location. The selected individual will continue developing our patented ZPod technology as well as explore potential new markets by designing, prototyping, and testing new products.
The experienced design engineer will help to innovate in the space of fluid mechanics, electromechanical devices, and help to solve complex engineering problems. The individual will lead product development of critical importance to the organization, while working with and helping to grow younger engineers.
This individual must be capable of thinking critically and operating independently. An ideal candidate is experienced or at least interested in all aspects of engineering. A broad understanding of aerospace applications is greatly beneficial as products progress towards representative testing on turbojet engines, drivetrain, and ultimately implementation on-wing.
Lastly, working at a start-up is dynamic and may take on many other shapes. This also means that there will be opportunities to develop this role to suit your skills and interests, even outside of engineering.
Responsibilities:
As a Principal Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be a key contributor to the Zulu Pods development lifecycle, from concept generation to field deployment. Your primary responsibilities will include:
Design and Analysis: Lead the design, analysis, and validation of complex fluidic components and systems (e.g., propulsion systems, thermal management, fuel systems) for various aerospace applications.
System Integration: Oversee the integration of fluidic and mechanical subsystems into larger aerospace platforms, ensuring performance, safety, and reliability requirements are met.
Modeling and Simulation: Develop and apply advanced computational fluid dynamics (CFD) models and other analytical tools to predict, optimize, and troubleshoot system behavior.

Summary: This position is responsible for designing and developing innovative products, ensuring they meet functional requirements and adhere to industry standards. Organize and lead Design Review meetings. Record action items, assign tasks, track workflow, and close tasks upon completion.
Input data into the MRP system to develop Bill of Materials (BOM) product structure.
Design prototypes using knowledge of manufacturing capabilities. Model prototypes in 3D using Creo. Identify critical tooling requirements and assist in the assembly of prototypes.
Design components with consideration of appropriate manufacturing tolerances. Coordinate special order component requirements with the Sourcing Department.
Create detailed drawings using Creo that convey the design requirements in accordance to published design standards.
Use the following software programs when performing this job: Creo, Ansys, and SAP.
Use math concepts such as probability and statistical inference, fundamentals of plane, solid geometry and trigonometry. Apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
