General Summary:
As a member of the counseling department, the School Counselor follows the guidelines of the Michigan Comprehensive Guidance and Counseling Program. The School Guidance Counselor provides activities to meet the needs of his/her assigned caseload; the School Guidance Counselor consults with teachers, staff and parents/guardians to improve student achievement. The School Guidance Counselor provides support to other school educational programs. The School Guidance Counselor reports to the building principal.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Helps bring in appropriate referral services to assist students achieve their goal.
Monitors individual student progress of caseload including grades, attendance, discipline, etc.
Provides individual planning.
Implements guidance curriculum in cooperation with the entire school.
Helps students choose an appropriate career pathway and design an individual educational program.
Utilizes program parameters; career development and exploration; knowledge of self and others; and educational career technical development.
Counsels students with the development of educational and career plans.
Counsels students with social and emotional problems, referring severe problems to appropriate resources.
Consults with teachers, staff and parents/guardians regarding meeting the developmental and educational needs of students.
Schedules students into classes and resolves schedule conflicts.
Implements counseling activities in the classroom in conjunction with administration and teachers.
Responds to crisis situations when appropriate.
Administers PLAN, Preliminary Scholastic Assessment Test (PSAT) and Advanced Placement (AP) exams and other assessments as appropriate.
Is involved with grade level and special education transition activities.
Other duties as required.
Qualifications:
Must have a valid teaching certificate with a school counseling endorsement (NT) and a school counseling license (SCL), or a preliminary employment authorization (PESC) from the Michigan Department of Education.
Master of Arts degree in counseling.
Strong communication and human relation skills.

Our Camp Counselor positions have the potential to serve as competitively paid internships that meet your course credit needs.
First and foremost, your primary responsibilities will be as a Camp Counselor. Develop and implement with the family home visit plans which reflect both mandated elements and the unique needs and strengths of each family.
Encourage experimentation, exploration, problem solving, cooperation, socialization, and choice making with all families and children enrolled in the program.
Promote a home atmosphere that reinforces the parents as their child's primary teacher.
Conduct quarterly developmental and social emotional screenings and assessments on all children enrolled in the program and make referrals as needed.
When developmental or social emotional concerns are identified make referrals to the appropriate agency. When necessary, work with agencies and other resources to develop Individual Family Service Plans (IFSP).
Coordinate special needs staff in the home and develop a collaborative approach that benefits all family members and the needs specified in the IFSP.
Using developmental screenings and assessments work collaboratively with parents and develop a comprehensive Individual Educational Service Plan (IESP) for each child. The IESP should be designed to promote age appropriate development for each child and reviewed at least quarterly.
Develop and utilize teaching methods and materials for use in the home.
Assist in the planning and facilitating of group meetings, which provide education and information on current Early Head Start policy and curriculum development.
Maintain accurate written records including assessments, IESP documentation, developmental screening instruments, home visit reports, and other required forms.
Plan monthly socialization activities for all families enrolled in the program.
Attend meetings, staffings, trainings, and professional development activities as appropriate.
Perform other duties as assigned.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

CRISIS/ACCESS SPECIALIST - LOCATION TBD (Traverse city, Cadillac, Houghton Lake, Grayling)
Primary duties of this clinical position involve the performance of Crisis and Access functions including authorization(s) and may include assisting with the coverage of S.E. virtually and vice versa. Activities include screening of non-emergent and emergent requests for service, provide referral assistance; initial orientation to CMH services; authorization/reauthorization of services to consumers with mental illness or developmental disabilities. This position also requires experience with the populations served, familiarity with the wide range of programs and services provided by or purchased by NLCMHA and an ability to match consumers to the appropriate scope and intensity of services required. This position will coordinate additional assignments to appropriate programs and will provide services in a welcoming manner, demonstrating co-occurring disorder competencies. This position is not responsible for the direct supervision of staff. This position works with those in crisis to provide case consultation, crisis intervention including but not limited to risk assessment screening and inpatient assessment, service coordination, and referrals/linkage to resources for individuals, who were identified as requiring mental health/substance use-related supports. This position reports to the Supervisor/Operations Manager as assigned. This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Provide essential access system functions for all populations including screening, eligibility determination, collection of relevant information for reporting and decision-making purposes, referrals, provision of relevant consumer information and provision of outreach services when necessary.
Obtain sufficient information from individuals requesting service to determine their apparent eligibility for service including demographics, clinical assessment and diagnosis, level of care determination and referrals.
Provide new consumer initial orientation to CMH services including Person Centered Planning process.
Working knowledge of external agencies and providers and ability to assist requesters of service in linking to other providers when there is a need. Follow up with individuals when appropriate.
Assure that customers with Limited English Proficiency or other special needs have available and receive appropriate assistance with respect to all CMHSP services, including access to and utilization of the PIHP grievance and appeal process.
May participate in interventions, assessments, and other aspects of crisis services during and after hours as necessary.
Screen and address within access service any barriers to service, including speech, language and cultural needs or issues.
Refer or assist individual to take actions to resolve questions or concerns.
Provides direct and indirect services, including case consultation and coordination, advocacy, and referral.
Conduct emergency on-site and or virtual assessments of clients to determine the need for inpatient psychiatric hospitalization. Provides mobile response to a variety of community settings upon request/referral, including telephone contact, virtual methods (telephone/Teams/Doximity), homes, businesses, shelters, etc.
Provides face-to-face and/or virtual (telephone/Teams/Doximity) crisis intervention to help de-escalate and/or stabilize individuals in crisis.
Participate actively in staff development activities including unit meetings, supervisory meetings, community meetings, applicable conferences, and review of current literature regarding services.
Work cooperatively with the Grand Traverse Mental Health Crisis and Access Center, Law Enforcement, Primary Care Physicians, Local Department of Health and Human Services agencies, Schools, ISD, Substance Abuse and other providers to promote provision of quality community-based services.
Provides follow-up and support services to individuals to ensure their engagement in services.
Develops rapport and maintains strong working relationships with law enforcement and community stakeholders.
Assists with training implementation for internal and external partners as appropriate.
Tracks and collects data points, as identified.
Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Credentialed by NLCMHA to provide services in this professional discipline.
- Must have and maintain licensure in the State of Michigan as LMSW, LPC or Psychologist
-Limited licensure may be considered
- Master's degree in social work, psychology, or counseling from an accredited university. (required)
- One (1) year experience in the mental health field with experience in working with individuals with severe and persistent mental illness and individuals with developmental disabilities.
- Demonstrated competency in the use of diagnostic skills to include the use of most current DSM.

Under the direction of the Executive Clinical Director, the Behavior Analyst will provide supervision to Behavior Technicians and 1:1 behavioral intervention programs to children, in addition to developing programs, behavior intervention plans (as needed), and program monitoring of their caseload.
Qualifications
Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA): This position requires the individual to have a minimum of a master's degree in applied behavior analysis and hold an active status as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).
Qualified Behavioral Health Professional (QBHP): This position requires a minimum of a master's degree in a mental health-related field or a BACB approved degree category from an accredited institution who is trained and has one year of experience in the examination, evaluation, and treatment of children with ASD. QBHPs must have a responsible BCBA supervisor, be on their third BACB accredited course, and have started their supervision experience to qualify.
Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst (BCaBA): This position requires the individual to have a minimum of a bachelor's degree, have completed the BACB coursework in applied behavior analysis and hold an active status as a Board Certified Behavior Assistant Analyst (BCaBA).

Job Duties
Responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to, the following:
Provide supervision of behavior technicians working with clients.
Implement 1:1 behavioral intervention programs to children.
Participate in training activities as needed that provides instruction on Applied Behavior Analysis, discrete trail teaching techniques, management of challenging behaviors, child development and data collection techniques applicable to the client population. In addition to recording and reporting on the behavior of individual children as assigned.
Assist with training and competency checklists for new and existing behavior technicians.
Receive supervision from the Executive Clinical Director for each client they work with on a monthly basis.
Communicate with supervisory staff.
Prepare and conduct team meetings.
Monthly graphing and progress reports.
Introduce and train new client programs under guidance of Behavior Services Director.
Manage and update client's program book
Conduct VB-MAPP, PEAK, ABLLS-R, AFLS, or other curriculum-based assessments as approved by North Arrow ABA clinical leadership.
Develop functional behavior assessment and behavior intervention plan under the supervision and guidance of the Executive Clinical Director.
Assist with daily changes and updates to schedule as children and/or staff are out due to illness, vacation, etc.
Prepare social skills, gross motor, natural environment teaching and other learning programs.
Delegate stimuli prep to Behavior Technicians and Clinical Support Specialists as necessary.
Availability
40 hours work week for full time supervisors.
Employees should be available Monday through Friday 8am-8pm; your hours are subject to flexibility for meetings and cooperation with other clinical staff for after-school hours.

Promote a home atmosphere that reinforces the parents as their child's primary teacher.
Conduct quarterly developmental and social emotional screenings and assessments on all children enrolled in the program and make referrals as needed.
When developmental or social emotional concerns are identified make referrals to the appropriate agency. When necessary, work with agencies and other resources to develop Individual Family Service Plans (IFSP).
Coordinate special needs staff in the home and develop a collaborative approach that benefits all family members and the needs specified in the IFSP.
Using developmental screenings and assessments work collaboratively with parents and develop a comprehensive Individual Educational Service Plan (IESP) for each child. The IESP should be designed to promote age appropriate development for each child and reviewed at least quarterly.
Develop and utilize teaching methods and materials for use in the home.
Assist in the planning and facilitating of group meetings, which provide education and information on current Early Head Start policy and curriculum development.
Maintain accurate written records including assessments, IESP documentation, developmental screening instruments, home visit reports, and other required forms.
Plan monthly socialization activities for all families enrolled in the program.
Attend meetings, staffings, trainings, and professional development activities as appropriate.

Engages the youth in services to support and assist the youth with community integration, improving family relationships and resolving conflicts, and making transition to adulthood. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Qualifications
Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA): This position requires the individual to have a minimum of a master's degree in applied behavior analysis and hold an active status as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).
Qualified Behavioral Health Professional (QBHP): This position requires a minimum of a master's degree in a mental health-related field or a BACB approved degree category from an accredited institution who is trained and has one year of experience in the examination, evaluation, and treatment of children with ASD. QBHPs must have a responsible BCBA supervisor, be on their third BACB accredited course, and have started their supervision experience to qualify.
Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst (BCaBA): This position requires the individual to have a minimum of a bachelor's degree, have completed the BACB coursework in applied behavior analysis and hold an active status as a Board Certified Behavior Assistant Analyst (BCaBA).

Assist with daily changes and updates to schedule as children and/or staff are out due to illness, vacation, etc.
Prepare social skills, gross motor, natural environment teaching and other learning programs.
Delegate stimuli prep to Behavior Technicians and Clinical Support Specialists as necessary.
Availability
40 hours work week for full time supervisors.
Employees should be available Monday through Friday 8am-8pm; your hours are subject to flexibility for meetings and cooperation with other clinical staff for after-school hours.
