This position will support the Bureau of Infectious Disease and Services as an administrative assistant with specialized administrative duties that shall include data entry and administrative support to Bureau staff.
This position will report to the Office Chief of the Office of Infectious Disease Surveillance and Epidemiology. Position duties include timely and accurate entry of data into electronic data systems, quality control of data entry (i.e. prevention of duplicates), sorting of paper and electronic records, support with obtaining missing information from laboratories, and
adminstrative support to the Bureau.
This position shall follow established data entry and data quality guidelines.
This position will be required to work with confidential health information and shall be expected to adhere to ADHS confidentiality policies.
This position will need to have a private place to work where they cannot be overheard.
This position will need to have a working computer or laptop as equipment will not be provided.

The Specimen Processing Clerk I is responsible for supporting the department with all clerical and ancillary duties in creating and accessioning clinical cases for patient output. While maintaining job functions, the Specimen Processing Clerk is to progress in their learning of the regulations (CLIA, CAP and NYS) which the laboratory functions. This position works under the direction of the Supervisor and follows standard laboratory procedures and policies.
Job Responsibilities
Open packages and video receipt of all incoming specimens for clinical processing.
Creates and manages patient cases including the setting up of new cases, updating current cases, entering of specimens in case, attaching relevant documents, Quality Control checking information for accuracy and other case management tasks.
Opens and closes specimen and case discrepancies to ensure accurate information and processing of specimens in a timely fashion.
Works cross-functionally with various departments including Customer Support, Molecular - Liquid Profiling, Compliance, Reporting, Patient Billing, PA's, Pharma Research Operations, and Biorepository.
Responsible for filing, tracking, retrieval, and accurate record keeping.
Maintains diagnostic viability of all specimens and ensures correct patient labeling of all materials. Routinely checks and verifies accuracy of all information in laboratory information system.
Records in laboratory logs all specimens prepared. Logs appropriate information into the laboratory information system.
Responsible for Quality Assurance (QA)/Quality Control (QC) for all cases, specimens and documentation.
Maintains Supply Inventory, including package receiving and supply chain requests, and submitting orders to Purchasing department, in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Assists as needed to perform other related duties and special projects to support the laboratory as required.

About the role:
The Data Entry Clerk will enter data sent from customers on labels and forms into our laboratory information management systems.
Position Duties and Scope:
The Data Entry Clerk 1 has the following duties:
• Accurately enter data received from customers into company database.
• Follow departmental guidelines for all data loaded.
• Modify data periodically as prescribed by customers.
• Follow instructions by supervisor.
• Follow standard operating procedures.
• Send "problem" samples to customer service for resolution.
• Notify lab of changes to test packages, special testing requests, and/or priority testing (rush analysis).
• Efficiently process 200+ samples daily.
• Answer phones and assist customers as needed.
• Correct samples that are logged incorrectly and work with lab to ensure correct tests are performed.
• Receive, open and tray up all samples received each day.
• Effectively research reminders generated by diagnosis and fix samples if needed.
• Assist with storage and disposal of client samples.
• Compile, sort and verify the accuracy of data before it is entered.
• Enter data received from customers accurately.
• Follow departmental guidelines for all data loaded.
• Modify data periodically as prescribed by guidelines.
• Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
High school diploma/GED is required.
0-3 years of laboratory experience is preferred
Must have good computer skills, including Microsoft Office products, LIMS, and Internet based reference libraries.
The ability to accurately enter 200+ samples daily by the end of our training period.
The ability to learn all applicable Data Entry procedures.
Attention to detail and good communication skills.
High energy level, confidence and ability to thrive in a fast paced environment.
Ability to work overtime, evenings and weekends.
