You will shape the future of the Fernandina maintenance department by:
Repairing, installing, and rebuilding mechanical equipment throughout the mill as well as possessing personal initiative in meeting the training requirements to improve individual industrial skills specific to the RYAM Fernandina Plant.
Qualified candidates will bring the following experience and skill sets:
* High school diploma or GED
* Three (3) years of industrial maintenance experience
* Be proficient in base craft and qualified to perform all tasks associated with troubleshooting, pump installation and alignment, conveyors, drag chains, operating heavy equipment, and repairing or replacement of mill equipment.
* Able to draft, read and understand mechanical drawings, machinery specifications and parts list
* Functional in three (3) additional base skills (millwright, pipefitting, instrumentation, machinist, carpentry or electrical)
* Knowledge of pumps, filters, grinders, gears, hydraulic systems, pipe installation and welding
* Possess basic computer and handheld devices skills
* Own a complete set of basic mechanical tools
* Self-starter who can work safely under high-pressure situations
* Experience with Predictive Technologies such as Vibration Analysis, Ultrasound equipment, and Precision Alignment preferred
* SAP experience preferred
Working conditions
* The working conditions include an indoor non-air-conditioned industrial manufacturing and warehouse environment. Subject to temperatures that range from 65 to 90 degrees in the general working environment and hotter in certain areas of the plant. Occasional outdoor activities in hot, cold, or adverse weather.
* Twenty-four hour working environment. Must be available and willing to work rotating shifts.
Physical requirements
* Must pass and maintain all medical and fit-testing requirements for respiratory equipment
* Must be able to stand on concrete floors for an extended period, climb narrow stairs, ladders, and scaffolding. Work in confined spaces or at heights and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds during the shift.

The Mobile Diesel Technician Level II will be responsible for performing licensed DOT inspections, Preventative Maintenance inspections, light and follow-up repairs, light mechanical/hydraulic/electrical and electronic diagnostics, and other duties as assigned. The Mobile Diesel Technician II can perform more advanced diagnostics and repairs under the supervision of a Sr Mobile Diesel Technician or higher. The Diesel Technician II continues to learn additional advanced mechanical skills and diagnostic techniques. A successful Diesel Technician II complies with all company policies and achieves high level performance metrics.
DUTIES:
Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (“PM”), DOT Inspections and follow up repairs on light, medium and heavy-duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment.
Perform minor adjustment and repairs on various types of truck equipment including, but not limited to the following: Electrical/Brake/Cooling Systems, Starters/Alternators, Fan clutches, Engine electronics, Diesel steering systems, Engines (gas and diesel), Transmissions (manual and automatic), Clutches, Differentials, etc.
Diagnose, adjust, and repair various types of truck equipment including, but not limited to the following: Electrical/Brake/Cooling Systems, Starters/Alternators, Air conditioning systems, Fan clutches, Engine electronics, Diesel steering systems, Engines (gas and diesel), Transmissions (manual and automatic), Clutches, Differentials, etc.
Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions, using test instruments such as handheld computers and pressure gauges.
Road test vehicles to diagnose malfunctions and to ensure that they are working properly.
Identify problems, determine accuracy and relevance of information, using sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives.
Independently manage parts inventory and equipment provided on company-issued service truck and perform periodic reconciliation.
Maintain and operate company-issued service vehicle, conduct safety checks, and pre-/post-trip inspections of vehicle.
Work with and listen effectively to clients and customers to assess their needs, providing information or assistance, resolving their problems, or satisfying their expectations.
Manage concurrent assigned tasks, making effective judgments as to prioritizing work related activities and time allocations.
Use hand tools, precision instruments, as well as Diesel tools, welding equipment, lift and jacks.
Document according to company standards and upload pictures of work performed, parts used, and all findings observed on Repair Orders (“RO”) using company-issued iOS device and our proprietary TRAIT application.
Accurately complete DOT forms and all other forms of documentation in a timely fashion.
Work with a high degree of independence and manage own daily schedule.
Maintain a high level of productivity and be able to work within or close to most Standard Repair Times.
Obtain parts from approved local and national vendors as necessary for the repairs to be performed.
Communicate with management and support team via email or phone to obtain approvals on repair estimates, retrieve purchase order numbers and/or discuss RO findings notes.
Perform all work in compliance with organizational safety, health and environmental policies, and federal regulations, to include OSHA, EPA, and DOT.
Maintain company issued service truck, conduct safety checks and daily pre/post trip inspections.
REQUIREMENTS:
High School Diploma/GED and 3 years' experience in a related field. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as any level degree/certification beyond a HS diploma/GED in a related discipline; or 5 years' experience in a related field.
Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary to perform required job duties.
Obtain Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification T8 (PMI) within eighteen (18) months.
This position follows regulations issued by the Department of Transportation's (DOT) Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA). Candidate must be able to successfully complete and pass a DOT-regulated pre-employment background screening and DOT physical prior to employment.
A current and valid DOT medical card with more than four (4) months remaining until its expiration may be submitted in leu of a DOT physical. If the DOT medical card has four (4) months or less of validity remaining, a DOT physical will be required.
Due to interstate operating authority commerce regulations, candidates must be at least 21 years or older.
Safe drivers needed; valid driver's license required. Candidate must hold a valid state-of-residence driver's license, be able to obtain and maintain their Driver Qualification File.

What Will You Do?
The Mobile Service Technician is responsible for providing onsite customer service, equipment repairs, vendor led reworks, off lease inspections (OLI), support new equipment inspections for all Commercial and Sports, Fields, & Grounds (SF&G) accounts.
Territory: Broward County to, but not limited to, Miami-Dade County

Weekly itinerary can include, but not limited to, the following:
o Customer onsite warranty and customer bill repairs
o Service contract execution and paperwork
o New prospect discovery for service offerings
o Meet or exceed monthly and yearly labor and parts budgets
o Commercial & SF&G equipment delivery inspections
o Off Lease inspections (OU)
o Attend and assists demos when requested by sales teams
o Onsite customer training
o Toro rework
o Prepare and submit weekly Activity Reports
o Safely operate mobile field vehicle
o Toro Web Training- required monthly training for technicians and service advisors
o Complete monthly truck parts inventory count
o Wesco U- training seminars for customers
Calls to customer to provide but not limited to:
o General technical information
o Technician and operator training
o Billable diagnostic and repairs
o Convey benefits of Wesco Turf, Inc.
o Provide support for parts marketing
o Perform on site, end of lease inspections (OU) of equipment
o Perform demonstrations with territory manager for customers when requested
Must carry and keep tools in effective working condition at all times
Complete all assigned activities in eight-hour days, with no more than 40 hours per week
Respond to all communication in two hours or less
Expectation is to be driving to first scheduled stop, no later than 7:30 AM, daily
Should there be no scheduled appointments for the day, expectation is to report to the Sarasota repair facility to assist with technical calls, training and quality control functions
When volume of work dictates, no less than three customer stops per day
Engage in monthly and quarter individual development plan status with leadership team
When asked/necessary, must be able to keep information confidential

About the role
The Mobile Equipment Mechanic is responsible for the safe, environmentally sound and efficient daily operation of the facility and mobile equipment.
Position Responsibilities:
Hydraulic systems repair and diagnostics.
Regen system repair and diagnostics (exhaust).
Air brake system repair and diagnostic.
Good work ethic, self-motivation, honesty, and efficiency.
Work order completion, safe work permit accuracy. OTJ performance review.
Use of efficiency with electronic/computer diagnostic tools.
Adjust, repair, or overhaul on mobile mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment.
Position Requirements & Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum of 3 years diesel vehicle and/or heavy equipment maintenance experience, or two years of mechanical trade school training and two years' experience as a vehicle and heavy equipment mechanic.
Must be able to operate mobile equipment such as front-end loader and tractor/trailer for diagnosis purposes.
Specialize in clutch work or hydraulics a plus.
Current valid driver's license required; CDL license is a plus.
Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) or Diesel certifications preferred in areas of knowledge and experience.

Minimum Certificate / AAS in mechanical/electrical technologies or related degree or completed an apprenticeship and/or formal automated equipment mechanic training. Equivalent experience will be considered.
A minimum of 2-5 years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

The salary range for this position takes into account a wide range of factors including education, experience, knowledge, skills, geography, and abilities of the candidate, in addition to internal equity and alignment with market data. At QuidelOrtho, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The salary range for this position is $26.00 to $34.00 hourly and is bonus eligible.
