Review the checklist after the vehicle is checked in to evaluate for cost-effective and necessary repairs Identify mechanical and electrical problems with both manual and computerized diagnostic equipment Evaluate safety and appearance, and perform general maintenance as required. Mechanic: Candidate needs to be comfortable working on the river in all weather conditions (rain/sleet/snow/cold/hot). Good balance and sturdy footing. is needed for a safe workday. Needs to be self-motivated and stay busy. Needs 5 plus years experience working on Cat/Cummins/John Deere diesel engines. Have a good understanding on the low voltage controls (12/24v DC) and trouble-shooting techniques. Needs to have an understanding of Hydraulic circuits and components. Needs to be able to troubleshoot hydraulic problems with quick diagnostics. Must be able to work when needed. Normal is Mon-Fri 7-4:30. Saturday 7-11 a.m. or as needed. If production is down, you may need to work until equipment is running. Must be able to maintain the equipment Preventive Maintenance and inspect equipment to find problems before they escalate to a failure. Must be able to multitask and to plan jobs out ahead of time so the repair will be completed on time.
