HOURLY RATE: $39.29 POSITION SUMMARY: Fabricate and weld assemblies, beams, girders, boats, piping, etc., from Aluminum, stainless and copper nickel according to contract specifications and blueprints. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: Read and interpret all types of drawings and sketches, lay out and assemble with speed and accuracy and with minimal aid of supervision. Identify material types, cut to length, lay out and fit up welded or bolted detail, show weld sizes, piece marks, direction marks, etc. Develop, bend, roll, build up, and assemble various types of aluminum, stainless or copper nickel assemblies, piping and structures. Works with Supervisor to organize and direct crew. Ability to work to a build plan based on drawings, job procedure manuals and applicable codes. Has latitude to self-direct for best practice and through-put. Responsible for maintaining established schedules. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Ability to lift, carry 60Lbs., or maneuver objects, difficult objects will be lifted with the assistance of mechanical means or additional workers. Must be able to lift 4 ft., 60 lb. spool of wire and load welding machine. Ability to sit, stand, bend, reach, kneel, twist, pull, push, grip, and climb. Capable of working from ladders and scaffolding. WORK ENVIRONMENT: May be exposed to excessive noise, welding gases and fumes, and varying weather conditions. SWING SHIFT: Monday through Friday 11am-7:30pm Role of Diesel Mechanic Responsible for mechanical maintenance services; maintains, inspects and repairs equipment and vehicles to ensure safety and on-going operation. Essential Responsibilities * Diagnoses, tests and repairs vehicles and/or heavy landfill equipment including, but not limited to, powertrains and drivetrains, as well as electrical, steering, braking, exhaust and suspension systems. * Diagnoses, tests and repairs refuse vehicle and transfer trailer body systems including, but not limited to, hydraulic, body control, electrical and body mechanical systems. * Diagnoses, tests, repairs and maintains processing equipment such as balers, conveyors, hoppers, electric motors and controls, as well as maintenance shop and company facilities. * Performs basic fabrication work using welding equipment, torches, tools and/or machinery. * Orders and maintains shop parts, tools, equipment and supplies. * Accurately and efficiently completes paperwork and/or computer database entries relating to the work performed. * Acts as a lead worker by regularly instructing and directing others by assigning, reviewing and checking work. * Other duties as assigned Qualifications * One year of progressively responsible mechanical experience as a journeyman mechanic (or equivalent combination of education and experience). * Waste and recycling industry experience preferred. * Experience and knowledge of DOT Out-of-Service Criteria including CHP B.I.T. Inspections and DOT compliance audits. * Experience working in a maintenance facility or related environment with vehicles, processing equipment such as: balers, conveyors, hoppers, electric motors and landfill equipment preferred. * Expert knowledge of diesel and/or compressed natural gas engines, heavy equipment mechanical components and parts, as well as fabrication tools and techniques. * Knowledge of alternating and direct current electrical controls and motor systems. * Knowledge of federal, state and local job site health and safety rules, regulations and best practices; understanding of potential job hazards. * Basic computer programs. * High school diploma or GED preferred. * Graduation from a formalized mechanical trade school highly desirable. * Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License with no restrictions preferred within 6 months of hire. Columbia County is looking for an experienced mechanic to join our Public Works team. The Public Works Department oversees a wide range of tasks associated with the county's public infrastructure. Divisions within the department include Road Maintenance, Engineering, and Solid Waste Management. The Road Maintenance and Engineering divisions are responsible for providing a safe, secure and convenient multi-modal system of roads and bridges with consideration for economic and community development, environmental conservation, and emergency preparation through efficient and effective administrative and maintenance programs. The division maintains the county's 550 miles of paved and gravel roads as well as 93 bridges. Its territory ranges from nearly sea level to 2,000 feet. HOURLY RATE: $31.46 POSITION SUMMARY: Fabricate buildings, beams, girders, boats, etc., out of Aluminum materials according to contract specifications and blueprints with minimal supervision. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: Read and interpret all types of drawings and sketches; lay out and assemble with speed and accuracy without the aid of supervision. Identify material types, cut to length, lay-out and fit-up welded or bolted detail, show weld sizes, piece marks, direction marks, etc. Develop, bend, roll, build up, and assemble various types of plated assemblies and structures. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: None INTERPERSONAL CONTACTS: Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees. Ability to follow written and oral instructions regarding daily functions, safety rules and regulations, and possible hazardous conditions. Ability to communicate with and instruct team members on projects. KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Experience and ability to perform the above referenced essential functions and responsibilities. Sufficient knowledge in burning, welding, and operation of production machines and cranes. Knowledge of pipe welding in aluminum, stainless, and copper nickel is a plus Knowledgeable in the operation of all fabrication equipment. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Minimum 2 years' welding/fabrication experience or apprentice program. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Capable of passing a 3G, 4G Aluminum weld test on 3/8 plate to AWS D1.2 weld standards. Must be in good standing with or willing to join an affiliated labor union. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Ability to lift, carry 60Lbs., or maneuver objects, difficult objects will be lifted with the assistance of mechanical means or additional workers. Must be able to lift 4 ft., 60 lb. spool of wire and load welding machine. Ability to sit, stand, bend, reach, kneel, twist, pull, push, grip, and climb. Capable of working from ladders and scaffolding. WORK ENVIRONMENT: May be exposed to excessive noise, welding gases and fumes, and varying weather conditions. The Position As an FAA Certified Part 145 Repair Station, Hillsboro Aviation provides comprehensive maintenance and avionics services for a wide array of aircraft. From privately owned airplanes and helicopters to fixed and rotor-wing fleet operators; our clientele encompasses private, commercial, and government sectors. Our full-service facility in Hillsboro, Oregon supports scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, modifications and upgrades, avionics, and AOG emergencies. Our factory-trained mechanics and avionics technicians boast an average of over 20 years of experience. As a Senior Service Center Airbus H145 Mechanic, you will report to the Service Center Manager and will be responsible for leading maintenance projects and performing maintenance functions primarily on turbine helicopters. This position will also be responsible for supporting maintenance projects on jet, turboprop and high-performance piston aircraft. Ideal candidates are engaging, energetic, and driven. We are looking for someone who can work independently within their areas of responsibilities under limited supervision. The right candidate also values a strong work ethic and optimistic attitude while maintaining a critical eye for detail and organization. The work schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm. We require overtime during the week and on weekends when it is necessary to maintain our commitments and keep the shop's schedule in balance. Supporting the maintenance quality, efficiency, and regulatory compliance on all customer aircraft. Ensuring aircraft are maintained in accordance with the approved aircraft inspection program. Ensuring airworthiness and availability of assigned customer aircraft. Coordinating maintenance logistics to minimize downtime and maximize aircraft availability. Maintaining a high standard of quality for the shop environment, tools, and records. Other duties as assigned.
