Interprets drawings, sketches, plans and determines best work procedures, tools, equipment needed to troubleshoot and repair problems

* Responsible for inspecting Distributed Energy Resource (DER) installations, installing bi-directional meters, and updating DER permitting systems.
* Assist in resolving unplanned power outages; participate in restoring power services in a safe and timely manner; and communicate with utility customers regarding electrical complaints, planned outages, and potential electric hazards during power outages.
* Must follow Company safety standards and practices and be compliant in the proper use of personal protective equipment required to perform work.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education, Training, and Experience Guidelines
Apprentice
* High school diploma or equivalent.

* Must be at least 18 years of age
Knowledge and Skills:
* Knowledge of National Electrical Safety Code, National Electrical Code and OSHA standards.
* Knowledge of utility billing methods and systems.

Electrical apprentices are able to earn a paycheck while learning the trade through firsthand experience. This position has a clear career path to becoming an electrician with the potential and opportunity to become a manager of a team and larger scope of work.
Position Responsibilities
The electrical apprentice is partnered with a licensed journeyman electrician and has on-the-job training (OJT) to become an electrician.
You'll help perform electrical installations of a multifamily and commercial nature.
Learn and perform all scopes of large-scale projects, from distribution to rough in, trim and deck work.
Participate in official apprenticeship program and attend classes as required.

Successfully register, enroll and participate in an electrical apprenticeship program (and remain in good standing) until program is completed.

What you'll do…
We are seeking a skilled Electrical Technician, Automation & Controls to support the integration, commissioning, and optimization of generator packages and electrical systems within advanced microgrid projects. This role is hands-on and dynamic, requiring expertise in automation, controls, and system performance to help ensure reliable, safe, and compliant operations. This is a field position based out of Houston, Texas and will report directly to the Manager of Automation & Controls Engineering.
You'll make an impact by:
System Integration & Commissioning
Contributing to the integration of generator packages, switchgear, and electrical systems in line with project specifications, safety protocols, and timelines.
Carrying out and validate cable schedules, control packages, and system testing protocols.
Performing start-up and performance testing activities to confirm operational readiness and safety compliance.
Project Execution & Handover
Supporting the transition from construction to commissioning and operations teams by confirming integration requirements are met.
Tracking and closing punch list items by documenting deficiencies and assisting with resolution.
Providing troubleshooting support during early operational phases following system integration.
Technical Contribution
Assisting in troubleshooting automation, protection, and control systems (e.g., Schneider PLCs, DeepSea Controllers, ABB Relays, SEL devices).
Participating in the development and delivery of training for site personnel and contractors on microgrid operations, controls, and start-up procedures.
Helping maintain documentation control and reporting, ensuring accurate project records.
