We have an immediate opening for a Fleet Remediation Project Design Electrical Engineer in the PDX Cluster.
As an Amazon Fleet Remediation Project Design Engineer, you will lead design projects in operational data centers, that remediate issues, upgrade our existing infrastructure or add new services. You will be the 'go to' engineering resource for these projects and will provide lifecycle support from design through implementation. You will use your electrical expertise to:
- Own the design for existing data center upgrades and design-solutions which add data center infrastructure, capacity, improve availability, and/or increase sustainability.
- Perform design and equipment submittal review for Data Centers in your region.
- Interface with internal and external data center design engineering team, server hardware team, environmental health and safety team, field engineering, and controls engineering to promote standards that maintain consistency and reliability in services delivered.
- Work on concurrent projects, sometimes in multiple geographical regions.
- Act as a technical subject matter expert for your given discipline during new remediation projects.
- Support construction, commissioning, operations, and turnover.

The successful candidate will support the 222-S Complex with electrical engineering, project engineering, and other duties as assigned with minimal supervision. Project Overview:
Bechtel is designing, constructing, and commissioning the world's largest radioactive waste treatment plant for the U.S. Department of Energy at the Hanford Site in southeastern Washington State. The Hanford Tank Waste Treatment and Immobilization Plant will use vitrification technology to process and solidify 56 million gallons (210 million liters) of radioactive and chemical waste stored at the Hanford site, which is a byproduct of plutonium production during World War II and the Cold War era.
The project is the largest undertaking of its kind and one of DOE's most technically challenging cleanup projects. Its construction spans 65 acres (26 hectares) with four major nuclear facilities - Pretreatment, Low-Activity Waste Vitrification, High-Level Waste Vitrification and Analytical Laboratory - as well as operations and maintenance buildings, utilities, other support facilities.
The Waste Treatment Completion Company (WTCC) is a limited liability corporation created by Bechtel National Inc. (BNI) and Amentum. WTCC is a subcontractor to BNI, the prime contractor, to deliver the construction, turnover, startup, and commissioning activities for the WTP project.
This position is located at the Construction Site (22 miles north of Richland) and works a 4 x 10 schedule, M-Th, 6:30 am to 5:00 pm (day shift) or 5:30 pm to 4:00 am (night shift), subject to change. The project may require employees to work weekends, overtime, holidays, and/or night shift as business needs arise.
Job Summary:
The HLW Civil Field Engineer is responsible for tasks and activities relating to construction engineering within the Civil discipline (i.e., concrete, structural steel, excavation/backfill, scaffolding, architectural finishes) utilizing nuclear codes and standards. Responsibilities include the development of work plans, coordinating materials, performing, and documenting inspections, reporting progress, and resolving conflicts in design and construction related to the installation and testing of commodities through turnover to Startup/Commissioning. Major Responsibilities:
* Provides field engineering support and assistance to superintendents, supporting personnel in meeting cost and time schedules, verifies materials, equipment, and quality, and assures results meet design requirements.

Provide direction on design/build/test projects and guide multi-disciplinary project teams.
Design & Technical Expertise
Identify, design, evaluate, and test solutions for nuclear and hazardous waste remediation, chemical processing, and commercial projects.
Develop P&IDs and oversee all aspects of instrumentation and controls, including system design, control panel design, and testing.
Conduct design and analysis in compliance with applicable codes and standards (e.g., NEC, UL-508A).
Specify, integrate, and program hardware and software components, including PLCs.
Troubleshoot instrumentation, monitoring, and control systems.
Project Support & Collaboration
Support multiple simultaneous projects across Washington, Idaho, and other locations.
Collaborate with designers to produce accurate, detailed drawings.
Generate test plans and procedures, supporting system testing and validation.
Maintain configuration control of baseline drawings and documents.
Communicate project status, progress, and technical challenges to stakeholders.
Apply fabrication experience to ensure integration and manufacturability of designs.
Safety & Oversight
Provide construction oversight, including inspection, installation, testing, training, and system turnover.
Maintain a strong safety focus in office, fabrication shop, and field environments.
Required Qualifications
Bachelors degree or higher from an ABET-accredited university.
Minimum of 15 years of demonstrated experience in control system design.
Experience leading project teams and mentoring junior staff.
Proven ability to prepare design deliverables, resolve review comments, and finalize design packages.
Experience in construction oversight, including installation, testing, training, and upgrades.
Proficiency with PLC programming, integration, and troubleshooting.
Strong problem-solving skills with instrumentation and control systems.
Self-starter with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Attention to detail and pride of ownership in work.
U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain government security clearance (required for federal contract work).
Preferred Qualifications
Registered Professional Engineer (PE).
Experience in hardware and software integration.
ASME NQA-1 or DOE project experience.
Nuclear facility and/or Navy Nuclear background.
Project management experience.

Sr. Electrical Design Engineer - Electrical and Renewables
Responsibilities
Assist the sales team in client meetings and presentations
Manage engineering project teammates and provide coaching and mentoring in their career development
Create, manage, and oversee the budgets for the Investment Grade Audits and/or Pre-Construction Services Proposals
Create, manage, and develop the scope of work for the Facility Improvement Measures (FIMs) while clearly communicating with the client regarding the scope of work. Example FIMs may include:
Photovoltaic (PV) Arrays with net metering
PV arrays with battery energy storage systems (BESS)
Building electrical service modifications
Emergency Power Systems
Work with the assigned construction manager to build the Guaranteed Maximum Construction Costs (GMAX) for projects
Review the assumptions and methodologies used in building the guaranteed energy savings, and review and understand the IPMVP used for the post retrofit measurements that will be used to prove out the energy savings
Manage project schedules and communicate changes in a dynamic environment
Maintain clear and concise verbal and written communications with the client
Provide preliminary and final designs for the project's FIMs

Education and Experience
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited program or equivalent required

Proficient in Revit.
