This would include installation, troubleshooting, and repair of control panels and associated components, motor circuits, building and lighting circuits and control circuits. The Plant Electrician will also perform preventative maintenance on electrical and electronic systems of the production equipment and physical plant. Inspection and calibration of various equipment such as pressure transducers, electrical and pneumatic controllers, level indicators and controllers, pressure and temperature transmitters, footage counters and limit switches are also required tasks. They will work from schematics, manuals, drawings, sketches, written and verbal instructions. They will also complete minor repairs on AC and DC motors up to 250 HP. Employee will be required to work productively and cooperatively in a high-volume, fast paced, environment and be able to respond efficiently and courteously to unanticipated problems and crisis. Principal Duties & Responsibilities: • Make use of "troubleshooting" techniques to keep all equipment and facilities in a state of good repair. • Install and troubleshoot electronic equipment from schematic drawings or blueprints. • Design and maintain logic systems for new equipment installation and retrofitting of old equipment. • Repair drive and drive support systems including the replacement of discrete components (i.e., I.C. chips and transistors). • Take care of tools and equipment. Maintain good housekeeping in assigned work areas. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - GENERAL EXPERIENCE Four (4) years of experience performing highly skilled work in the electrical trade area. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - SPECIAL EXPERIENCE Two (2) years of the General Experience must have included some experience in the repair and maintenance of electrical equipment and machinery with an energized voltage over 600 volts. NOTE: For state employees this experience is interpreted at the level of a Qualified Craft Worker (Electrical). MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - SUBSTITUTIONS ALLOWED Graduation from a vocational or technical school with a diploma designating completion of subject requirements in a maintenance trade area may be substituted for two (2) years of the General Experience. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS Incumbents in this class must have up to date Eversource ESOP 100 High Voltage training and certification. Incumbents in this class may be required by the appointing authority to possess and retain licenses, permits and/or certifications. Bucket truck operator experience performing maintenance on overhead high voltage equipment. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Incumbents in this class must have adequate physical strength, stamina, physical agility and visual and auditory acuity, and must maintain such physical fitness as to be able to perform the duties. A physical examination may be required. Incumbents in this class will be required to drive and operate motor vehicles, including, but not limited to vans, bucket trucks, box trucks, and pick-up trucks ranging in size from compact, midsize, full-size, and heavy-duty, some of which are equipped with lift gates. Incumbents must have adequate physical strength and agility to walk up and down stairs frequently and climb ladders independently. Must be able to lift, carry and push material weighing up to 75 lbs. Must have the ability to utilize ladders, scaffolding, high-lifts and enter confined spaces. Under general supervision, coordinate and conduct general electrical repair work and troubleshooting, perform preventive maintenance, installation services and construction work in accordance with safety standards and fire codes. This position works 6:00 PM - 6:00 AM in a critical data center facility.
