Summary:
Perform complex trade studies, modeling, simulation, and analysis to predict component, interconnect, and system performance, optimizing designs for Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3).
Work under minimal direction to ensure Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) of electronics, wiring, and structures.
Interface with manufacturing on complex E3 design aspects and coordinate with suppliers to ensure system-level compatibility.
Report progress, achievements, and issues to program management and customers.
Support project management by coordinating work statements, budgets, schedules, and reviews.
Develop and implement test automation for aircraft modifications.
Apply EMI engineering expertise to document and resolve complex technical problems.
Conduct analyses to predict and optimize component and system performance.
Apply conversion, correction, and antenna factors to EMI/EMC analyses and testing.
Collaborate across teams and present findings in internal and external reviews.
Process engineering data into tables, charts, and reports.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or Chemistry and typically 5+ years of related experience, or an equivalent combination (e.g., Master's + 3 years, Ph.D.).
Knowledge of electromagnetic concepts such as RF isolation, shielding, grounding, and filtering.
Willingness to travel up to 25%.
Minimum of 5 years of related work experience.
Must be a U.S. Citizen (as defined by ITAR).
Preferred Qualifications:
ABET-accredited Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, or a Master's/Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering.
Active U.S. Security Clearance.
Experience in the defense or aerospace industry.
Knowledge of MIL-STD-461/464 and/or DO-160 EMI/EMC standards.
Prior experience with Aerospace Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3).
Experience with EMI qualification testing for aircraft LRUs, including procedure and report review.
Familiarity with aircraft-level E3 requirements and test methods (MIL-STD-464).
Knowledge of electrical bonding best practices for E3 compliance.
Foundation in RF systems and/or computational E3 analytical software tools.
ABET accreditation preferred but not required.
