DESCRIPTION OF WORK
In this role, you will engage in a comprehensive one-year training program that combines formal education with practical experience to cultivate essential skills in public interaction and customer service. You will gain insights into current trends and challenges in outdoor recreation and conservation, as well as learn about conservation principles, environmental education, public safety, and relevant departmental policies and regulations, including law enforcement practices necessary for a DCNR Ranger. Your responsibilities will involve assisting with park patrols and effectively addressing various situations, such as safety concerns, visitor assistance, emergencies, and potential violations of laws or regulations. Additionally, you will be tasked with maintaining daily and monthly logs that document the status of campgrounds, facilities, and visitor safety, as well as preparing permits and managing fee collections, ensuring accuracy in financial transactions and bank deposits.
Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Seasonal Full-time employment, 40 hour work week
Work Days: 5 out of 7 days per week. Will include evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Work Hours are varied eight-hour shifts, with 30-minute paid lunch.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
Completion of 15 college credits in natural or environmental sciences, natural resource management, park management, parks or outdoor recreation, forestry, environmental education, ecology, wildlife management, or in a closely related field; or
Six months of experience providing visitor services in a public park, forest, recreation area, or a privately-owned and operated nature or outdoor education center; or
An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Special Requirements:
You must be at least 21 years of age at time of employment.
All positions require possession of an active motor vehicle license.
All employees must successfully complete a structured law enforcement training program to obtain authority in exercising the powers of arrest during the trainee period.
All employees must obtain valid certification in standard first aid and adult, child, and infant CPR approved by the American Red Cross, American Heart Association, or equivalent during the trainee period.
All employees must pass psychological testing (Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI). Failure to pass this test is a basis for removal from the position.
All employees must pass Pennsylvania State Police and FBI Criminal Background Checks. A record of conviction of a criminal offense for which more than one year in prison can be imposed as punishment is a basis for removal from the position.

AECOM has an exciting opportunity for an EnvironmentalTechnician III to join our Mechanicsburg Remediation team. You will work on a diverse range of projects delivering remediation system solutions to our key clients.
The successful candidate will have the ability to communicate effectively with members of the project team, clients, site personnel and office management, and work both independently and as part of a project team. In addition, the successful candidate will be committed to the team's success and growth; will rigorously apply safety policies and procedures; and will effectively manage the quality of field efforts within the bounds of the AECOM Quality Management System.
The role requires a strong mechanical and safety aptitude, and the candidate must have experience working with plumbing, electrical, and general construction related trades. Duties include (but will not be limited to) equipment maintenance coordination, remediation system maintenance, and environmental sampling activities. Although this is a field position that involves significant equipment maintenance and construction related activities, there will be direct interaction with clients and the candidate must have experience communicating with clients on a professional level.
This position will involve travel throughout the region on a regular basis.
The job responsibilities for the position will include but are not limited to the following:
• Performs standardized or prescribed assignments involving a sequence of related operations.
• Conducts a variety of standardized tests and may prepare specimens; Sets up and operates standard testing equipment of moderate complexity.
• Records test data and provides observation and interpretations of it.
• Performs fieldwork, including but not limited to environmental sampling, operations and maintenance and inspections at client sites.

Primary Role

Specific duties will include, but are not limited to, leading projects, performing sampling of environmental media (soil, water, waste, air, etc.), chemical and physical screening of samples in the field, shipping samples to laboratories for analysis, evaluating analytical results, and preparing reports of investigations and removal actions. The position also includes participation as an on-call emergency responder, serving approximately 1 week per month for 24/7 emergency response to chemical and oil spills. This position requires the ability to travel.
This position is an integral member of the project team, interfacing with internal and external clients, preparing project deliverables, and clearly communicating with other project team members.
Qualifications:
* B.S. or M.S. Environmental Science, or related Engineering, Physical or Life Science with at least 3 year of direct experience in a variety of environmental response operations, such as sampling, assessments, lab coordination, and document preparation.
* Must be able to lift 50 lbs. (field equipment, PPE, etc.)
* Must be eligible to work in the United States and have a valid driver's license.
Preferred Experience:
* Experience planning and leading environmental site investigations at sites with potentially hazardous substances.

. Responsibilities include one-on-one communication with community members, fundraising, collecting calls-to-actions addressed to lawmakers (e.g. petitions, signatures, and handwritten letters), dispersing information, and good record keeping.
