The Crane B Mechanic is a journey-level maintenance professional responsible for inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining cranes and weight handling equipment at Naval Base Kitsap. Working under general supervision, using hand tools, power tools, and precision testing instruments to diagnose mechanical, electrical, and electro-mechanical issues; replace or fabricate components; and ensure safe, reliable crane operations in accordance with manufacturer specifications, Navy PQP requirements, and NAVFAC standards. The role requires strict adherence to safety, quality, and performance standards while supporting mission-critical lifting operations in a secure government environment.
Duties & Responsibilities
Performs crane and other weight handling equipment (WHE) maintenance in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operation manuals and manufacturer's specifications.
Performs the work of a journey-level Crane Maintenance Mechanic with general supervision by a more experienced Crane Mechanic.
Repairs and maintains cranes, and trackage, using hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring and testing instruments.
Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts, using hoists, cranes, hand tools, and power tools.
Examines form and texture of parts to detect imperfections.
Inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements, using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.
Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments, using hand tools, levels, and precision tools.
Repairs or replaces defective parts, using hand tools and power tools.
Installs special functional and structural parts in devices, using hand and power tools.
Starts devices to test their performance.
Lubricates and cleans parts.
Makes and repairs parts as needed.
Repairs electro-mechanical equipment if needed.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
May perform work in other classifications when incidental work is necessary to the accomplishment of the work assignment. Significant work in another job classification may be required if accompanied by any wage adjustments applicable.

Ability to obtain a thorough knowledge in the performance of the tasks listed in the U.S. Navy Personnel Qualification Program (PQP) for "Crane Maintenance Mechanic ", using tools and instruments listed and others common to the trade within 6 months.
Must obtain and maintain required NAVFAC P-307 crane operator license within 12 months.
Journey-level Maintenance Mechanic
with a minimum of four (4) years' experience on cranes and crane repair to include air, manual, electric overhead, and dockside portals with a capacity range to 120 tons.
Four (4) years' experience
with either fabrication or maintenance of mobile crane electrical and electronic systems or a combination of both.
Must have and maintain hand tools of the trade to perform the normal work of the classifications.
Must have knowledge of, and know how to use, specialized tools needed to perform repair functions.
Ability to troubleshoot equipment.
Ability to climb ladders and work at heights.
Ability to work odd shifts and overtime.

Job Summary:
As an EnvironmentalTechnician, this position performs field tests to monitor the environment and investigate sources of pollution, including those that affect health. We will rely on you to set up and collect ambient air samples, calibrate and test air monitoring instruments, perform data collections checks, and use troubleshooting techniques to repair instruments.
This position may be available for remote work within Arizona (3 days per week in the office/hoteling).

Job Duties:
• Works approximately 50% in the field conducting hands-on instrument maintenance / service, verifications, calibration, and completion of all required service logs, field sheets and documentation in accordance with SOP's, QAPP's and the EPA QA Handbook.
• Conduct remote air monitoring site visits for assigned sites according to the EPA schedule and ADEQ QAPP's.
• An understanding of the operation of the air monitoring sites including; ambient air monitoring instruments, meteorological instruments, data acquisition, sample setup and retrieval and all other auxiliary equipment.
• Data verification for continuous and manual instruments. Review of data using: reports, graphs, charts or linear databases to identification of outliers, malfunctions or anomalies.
• Documentation and completion of: electronic field sheets, site logs, instrument logs, instrument change out sheets, chain of custody, vehicle logs, travel logs and sample shipping.
• Responds to customer inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
• Performs or leads projects under direction of a unit lead or manager.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):
• Knowledge of and/or experience in gaseous and particulate instrumentation, Auto-GC, communication equipment, quality assurance and control, and data entry using relational databases; existing and new environmental monitoring techniques and equipment; methodologies and techniques for collecting environmental data including the design and function of environmental monitoring equipment and State and Federal environmental regulations.

Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Professional and Scientific Positions.

FOR GS-11: Successfully completed 1 year of specialized experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. Provides front office oversight for Environmental Health. In this role, you'll use your strong customer service skills to engage with the public, conduct interviews to collect essential data, perform watercraft inspections, and carry out decontamination procedures when necessary.
What to Expect-
Among the varied range of responsibilities held within this role, the Watercraft Inspector will,
Inspect recreational and commercial watercraft at Watercraft Inspection and Decontamination (WID) Stations and during roving patrols:
* Conduct standardized interviews to collect watercraft conveyance information and history for record upload into multi-state WID database using provided iOS tablet or agency issued laptop.
* Follow watercraft inspection guidelines per Watercraft Inspection Technician (WIT) 1 - 2 trainings, including proper preservation of suspected AIS.
* Perform full decontaminations using pressurized hot-water decontamination unit when aquatic invasive species are detected.
* Opportunistically educate the public on Clean, Drain, Dry practices and AIS.

BASIC REQUIREMENT OR INDIVIDUAL OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENT:
Degree: physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics.

1. GS-7: You must have completed or will complete a 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's from an accredited institution AND must have documented Superior Academic Achievement (SAA) at the undergraduate level in the following:
