General Purpose
Environmental Specialist I, you will learn the safe and compliant packaging and shipping of hazardous waste while working at a customer's location. You'll learn how it's handled safely, where it goes, and how we help keep these materials out of landfills and water supplies. In this role, you will collect, separate and pack hazardous material for storage and transport and you'll be trained to complete the required documentation in accordance with our practices and procedures.
Responsibilities
Travel to Abbott Northwestern or United Hospital in Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN on M, W, F, and ride along with a CDL B specialist on Tuesday and Thursdays

Handling Concerns and Special Projects
Communication between generator and Clean Earth
Walk, collect, sort, package, and label hazardous and nonhazardous waste within the hospital site
Utilizing online work order system which prints service requests, TM will collect hazardous and non-hazardous materials from various accumulation areas on the hospital campus and deliver the materials to Hazardous Waste Storage areas
Keep accurate inventories of materials for disposal
Ensure all containers are tracked, labeled and dated
Ensure all containers are always closed
Pour off approved 5-gallon containers into drums
Relabel bulked 5-gallon containers for reuse for the same material
Compile detailed inventories of lab pack materials, segregate and package lab pack materials based on prepared inventory sheets
Prepare all required shipping documents - Manifests, LDRs, inventory sheets, labels & markings
Organize batteries - segregate by type, tape and package
Collect and package lightbulbs for disposal
Assist with reporting requirements and compliance
Unload inbound trucks with supplies and load outbound trucks with drums or other containers of hazardous, non-hazardous and universal wastes
Ensure accuracy of inbound and outbound shipping documents by correctly counting containers removed from our added to trucks
Complete paperwork legibly, accurately, and in a timely manner
Follow all Health & Safety/Job Safety Analysis (JSA's) procedures as outlined in Clean Earth procedures and policies
Maintaining inventory and storage of hazardous materials in accordance with appropriate regulations, customer policies, practices and procedures and Clean Earth policies, practices, and procedures
Segregate and package material for transport along with completion of required paperwork in accordance with appropriate regulations and Customer/Clean Earth policies, practices, and procedures
Basic Qualifications
Perform other reasonably related tasks as assigned by management
Have a HS Diploma or GED
Ability to wear personal protection equipment (PPE) including eye protection, face shield, Tyvek coveralls, steel toe boots and respirator.
Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
Physical Demands
Ability to work in all climate conditions both indoors and outdoors.
Ability to work safely in proximity to moving vehicles, electrical current, chemicals, and other potential hazards.
Must be willing and able to wear company-provided personal protective equipment that may include respirator, eye protection, Tyvek suit, protective footwear, etc.

Education and Experience

medium/heavy equipment, trailer repair, etc. and experience in cutting and
welding is preferred.
2. Good working Knowledge of DOT regulations and Out of Service parameters for
tractors, trailers and accessorial equipment.
3. Good working knowledge of trailer maintenance and diagnostic software.
4. A valid driver's license, Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is preferred
but not required.
5. Must be able to operate all related shop equipment.
6. Must be DOT certified and forklift certified, or able to demonstrate through
on the job inspections and certified by the ATS trainer within 90 days of hire
if work experience is applicable.
7. Good communications skills (written, verbal, listening).
8. An understanding of basic computer operations.
9. Good decision-making, problem-solving, attention to detail and customer
service skills (internal/external).
10. Competent in using computers including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and
Outlook).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. Perform inspections on incoming (Safety Lane) and outgoing company owned
trailers using ATS, DOT, and OSHA guidelines to ensure the trailer is operating
safely and efficiently.
2. Complete DOT inspections on outgoing trailers to verify that all necessary
repairs have been made.
3. Ensure safety procedures are implemented and followed and PPE is used at all
times.
4. Move tractors and trailers in and out of the shop for maintenance.
5. Inspects and perform all minor and major trailer maintenance including
welding, tire replacement, pressure checks, brakes, lights, and safety equipment
and submits reports indicating condition of equipment.
6. Weld metal to repair parts or fabricate replacement parts.
7. Open repair orders and charge out all parts used on trucks and trailers.
8. Participate in online OEM training.
9. Remain technically proficient in all areas of the shop including trailer,
tire, and basic parts.
10. Utilize appropriate resources, such as the parts manual and computer,
service bulletins and other resources to research problems, determine most
effective and efficient method for repair.
11. Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and take appropriate
actions, recommend process changes, and initiate improvements.
12. Be a positive role model for all team members providing support and
enthusiasm - creating a professional, positive work environment.
13. Performs shop clean-up and housekeeping responsibilities as well as other
miscellaneous related duties as assigned.
14. Must furnish basic tools and ATS will provide specialty tools to perform
functions of the position.
15. Meet all ATS and department objectives and deadlines.
16. Follow all ATS and department policies and procedures.
17. Works within budget that is set for the department.

Role
As an EnvironmentalTechnician, you will assist clients in meeting compliance standards by inspecting and monitoring their sites while maintaining high levels of safety and integrity. Experience is not required, but related experience is a plus.

Complete daily work completed checklists.
Conduct hazardous waste operations and clean-up as required.
Assist with daytime industrial services and emergency response projects, including tank cleanings, water blasting, facility decontaminations and cleanings on an as needed basis.
Prepare daily diaries, reports, field sketches, post-incident closure reports of all project activity to ensure records are accurate and complete.
Effectively communicate observations or concerns regarding health, safety, or work environment conditions to internal and external stakeholders, both verbally and in writing, maintaining a courteous and professional demeanor to ensure clear understanding and appropriate action.
Actively participate on an after-hour On-Call Emergency Response (ER) team - approximately one week every six to eight weeks.
