Responsible for operating rolling equipment to move, locate, relocate, stack, and count merchandise. The rolling equipmentoperator is accountable for the safe and efficient operation of the equipment, and performing other warehouse functions that require the use of rolling equipment or material handling equipment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Picks carton and loose stock from back-up rack locations and applies proper labels and moves product to assigned staging area for replenishment and full case pick
Loads cartons on conveyor and/or drop zone
Places product in designated picking location
Loads cartons onto full case induction line
Places full pallet and partial pallet picks in designated areas
Inspects cartons for damage and corrects orders that are rejected at the manifest scale
Maintains various quality control reports that monitor picking accuracy by picker
Retrieves books from the rack storage area to complete the order
Ensures that orders are complete and counts verified before loading trucks
Stages carton at dock locations for outgoing carriers
Inspects cartons for damage caused during internal handling
Ensures cartons contain proper labeling, are securely packed, and proper documentation has been applied before shipping
Ensures the accuracy of all shipping documents
Assures the shipping counts match picking documents and bill of lading.
Assists in resolving any discrepancies.
Assists in loading and unloading trucks as required
Keeps appropriate records and reports to guarantee tight inventory control and security are maintained.
Assists in cycle counts.
Ensures proper carton labels and pallet ID's are generated and affixed.
Maintains a clean, neat, and orderly work area.
Conducts operations in a manner that promotes safety.
Completes certification as a rolling equipmentoperator.
Enforces established safety, health, and housekeeping policies and procedures in order to minimize injuries, loss of production time, and damage

Hours of work: Sunday night - Thursday night from 9:00 p.m. - 5:00 a.m., with mandatory overtime as needed.

Essential Functions:
Operateequipment (excavator, backhoe, dozer and other heavy equipment) to push, pull, lift, stack, tier or transport bulk materials to and from mine site, storage or processing areas, feed conveyors, hoppers or chutes, and load trucks or railcars.
Maintain separate piles of different types of material by understanding the differences between the types of material and reading the site plan.
Maintain proper levels of aggregates and raw material, including keeping the hoppers full of aggregates. Notify manager of impending shortages on a timely basis.
Stock pile excess raw material to be processed and break up large rocks to a manageable size as needed.
Keep equipment and plant site clean at all times.
Perform all pre and post-trip inspections and complete daily inspection reports.
Operate vehicles and equipment in a safe manner. Follow proper procedures and complete required documentation if an accident or injury occurs. Notify manager or Safety Department as required.

The City of Staunton's Public Works Department is seeking an EquipmentOperator I to join its team in the Utilities Division.
Successful candidate safely operates light and medium duty equipment in the construction, repair and maintenance of City water and sewer lines. Equipment used includes, but is not limited to, utility truck, dump truck, air compressor and hand/power tools. Requires considerable manual labor in the repair and maintenance of water and sewer lines at all times of day, in all weather conditions. Services and makes minor repairs to equipment. VA Class A CDL license with tanker endorsement and good driving record required. Applicants with a CDL but without the tanker endorsement will have 2 months to obtain the endorsement. Applicants with competitive work experience without CDL will be considered at lower classification upon condition of obtaining CDL with tanker endorsement within 6 months of hire. Ability to follow instructions, problem solve, work and think both independently and effectively in a team environment is required. Operational knowledge of backhoe, sewer and water lines preferred. Ability to perform after-hours standby duty on a rotational basis required. $17.37/hr or higher DOE/DOQ (+) excellent benefits. Position is open until filled.
