Job Description
The Directional Drill Operator leads the crew to complete daily tasks related to the construction and maintenance of underground distribution power lines. This position works at various locations and may also be required to travel to another state depending on customer demands.
Essential Functions:
Demonstrated extensive underground distribution construction experience.
Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) experience is required.
Must have previous experience working from blueprints, and specifications.
Operates Directional Drill for installation of underground power lines.
Ensures safety of the public and other utilities underground facilities.
Reads utility locates and coordinating day lighting of these facilities.
Ensures all applicable permits and locates are complete and on site.
Supervises crew members.
Possesses working knowledge of leadership and management skills.
Must be capable of leading and training less skilled employees in safe and productive work procedures.
Conducts pre-job or tailgate briefings.
Maintains company vehicles, equipment, and tools in good working order.
Able to perform rigorous physical labor.

What you will do:

Perform general tasks involving physical labor as well as operating the loader and Bobcat at pits and/or plants. May clean and prepare sites, dig trenches, set braces for support, cleaning up rubble and debris and keeping plant yard clean at all times.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Loader Operator
Operate loader as needed for moving and loading materials at pits or on plant yard. May also be required to use jackhammers, drills and other power tools.
Position, join, align, and seal structural components.
Shovel materials.
Signal equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery, equipment, and materials.
Spray materials such as water, sand, steam, or paint through hoses to clean, coat, or seal surfaces.
Tend all machines used in the day to day operations.
Tend pumps, compressors, and generators to provide power for tools, machinery, and equipment, or to heat and move materials.
Lubricate, clean, and repair machinery, equipment, and tools.
Apply caulking compounds by hand or using caulking guns.
Clean and prepare sites to eliminate possible hazards.
Control traffic passing near, in, and around work area.
Erect and disassemble scaffolding, shoring, braces, ramps, and other temporary structures.
Load, unload building materials, machinery, and tools.

Education:
