About the Role:
The T&D Estimator II ensures competitiveness, profitability, and growth. The T&D Estimator II is responsible for preparing cost estimates for various transmission, distribution and substation electrical construction projects by collecting and studying cost information, evaluating bid specifications and drawings, and ensuring a successful bid. The T&D Estimator II acts as the lead Estimator for projects and supports other Estimators.

Essential Functions
Complete cost estimates for assigned projects, with definable work tasks for transmission, distribution and substation projects
Develop complex estimates with minor errors/omissions
Utilize previous work/bidding history to establish production assumptions
Track and compare project histories to produce up to date man hours and cost
Plan and execute work while meeting customer defined submission deadlines
Schedule and attend field job walk with customer, subcontractor, and construction personnel to determine constructability requirements
Attend on-site pre-bid meetings and perform job site visits
Field job walks and pre-bid meeting may require job site visits
Identify qualified suppliers/subcontractors
Perform accurate material takeoffs to supply to vendor for pricing
Solicit material vendor pricing and subcontractor proposals including assembly and distribution of project documentation into RFQ/RFP packages
Prepare commercial aspects of proposals, including work plans, clarifications/exceptions, etc.
Lead estimate review process with internal and external stake holders
Lead the estimating team and manage bidding activities
Support other Estimators with bidding activities and training
Regular and predictable attendance
Other duties as assigned
Essential functions of this position are to be performed in a Company-designated office or field location

About You:
Qualifications
Minimum 5 years of estimating experience
Experience in transmission, distribution and/or substation preferred
Estimating experience in the electrical construction industry preferred
Preferred Education
High school diploma or GED
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management or similar field; relevant experience considered in lieu of degree
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Proficient in understanding construction and electrical drawings to accurately formulate an estimate
Knowledgeable of electrical materials and methods of installation
Proficient in Microsoft applications
Excellent analytical and organizational skills
Strong communication skills, including verbal, and written
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and changing priorities as necessary
Ability to work under time pressure and adapt to changing requirements with a positive attitude

The Estimator I is responsible for preparing and completing bid documents and cost estimates for electrical construction projects. The Estimator controls the construction costs by collecting and studying information, evaluating bid specifications and drawings, ensuring they know what is required to successfully bid and win the project.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
Review proposal specifications and drawings to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate.
Prepare estimates by calculating complete takeoff of scope of work and enter into computer estimating system; review computer printout for accuracy and completeness.
Request quotes from suppliers for equipment and materials.
Identify qualified suppliers/subcontractors and solicit quotes. Review quotes for completeness with plans and specifications
Itemize and quantify all incidentals necessary in preparing the bid packages including sub-contract work, equipment rental, tools, and supplies
Prior to the issuing of the formal bid package, provide the Chief Estimator with a detailed review of scope, technical requirements, and pricing for the estimated bid package.
After the successful bid at project turnover, meet with Project Management to fully explain the estimate, scope of work, quotes and offer aspects for the successful transition of the project.
Responsible for the timely completion of all client-required documents.
Draft scope letter inclusions, exclusions, and clarifications for estimates
Maintain files of working documents as back-up for estimate figures

Responsibilities
Serves as the primary point of contact for the customer throughout the repair process from the point of drop-off through the delivery of the completed vehicle
Prepares estimate for customer and or insurance partners according to manufacturer and Classic Collision guidelines
Partners with the insurance companies to manage customers claim to insure the best customer experience
Maintains communication with customers providing updates on repair process
Coordinates with technicians to confirm all aspects of the damages are identified
Maintains customer satisfaction scores according to company standards
Perform quality inspection prior to vehicle delivery to the customer
Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
Must be at least 18 years of age
Valid Driver's License Required
Ability to provide clear, concise information in writing, via phone and in-person
Prior collision estimating experience preferred
Familiar with estimating systems CCC1 preferred
I-CAR / ASE certification preferred
Strong organizational skills
Successful completion of background check required

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/SKILLS
Assist estimators by quantifying elements of construction using PDF plans, 2D CAD files, and 3D
models including. Scopes of work to quantify typically include: concrete structures, light rail
trackwork, mass earthworks, roadways, highways, aviation, facilities site work, and underground
utilities.
Capable of generating earthwork volumes using PDF plans, or 3D models. Able to calculate earthwork volumes use end are volume methods.
Using Microsoft Excel to create spreadsheets that can calculate, compare, and summarize quantities of construction materials.
Reviewing contract documents, including drawings, and specifications. Ability to understand the scope of work, project constraints, construction tolerances, and different material types.
Complete takeoffs utilizing partially complete or in progress design documents. Be able to conceptually visualize the general intent on incomplete drawings.
Coordinate with other takeoff personnel working together to facilitate the takeoff off and quantity comparison of a project's construction components in a timely manner.
Ability to stay on schedule and gauge the level of effort in order to complete the task at hand.
Maintain organized records, working drawings, and take off summaries.
Identify missing design elements or an overlap in work areas with other disciplines.
Create exhibits for review purposes showing take off assumptions and communicating to others what has been included or excluded from quantity take off.

Conduct post-bid follow-ups, gather results, and communicate outcomes to internal stakeholders.
Facilitate project handoff meetings by preparing bid assumptions, scope details, and comprehensive documentation for Project Management teams.
Collaborate cross-functionally with Operations, Business Development, and Project Management teams to maintain alignment and continuity between estimating and execution.
Qualifications
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred; or equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.
Minimum 3+ years of experience in estimating, project coordination, or construction-related roles.
Strong ability to read and interpret construction drawings, technical documents, and specifications.
Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple concurrent bids.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and estimating or project management software (e.g., Bluebeam, HeavyBid, or similar).
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a customer-focused and collaborative approach.
High attention to detail, adaptability, and initiative in a fast-paced environment.
