How You'll Make An Impact
Lead the end‐to‐end estimating process for large commercial and industrial electrical projects while driving accuracy, competitiveness, and disciplined hand‐offs to operations.
Mentor junior estimators and support staff; provide training and oversight where needed
Stay current with industry trends, local codes, and cost changes in materials and labor
Collaborate with project management teams to ensure smooth handoff and project startup

HTC Commercial Flooring is looking for a commercial flooring estimator, this role is responsible for the accurate interpretation of project drawings and materials needed for the specified project. The commercial flooring estimators work in conjunction with the operation officer, project managers, and installation teams. As a commercial flooring estimator, you will need to pay high attention to detail and work well under strict deadlines to achieve accurate and organized drawings and totals for multiple floor covering projects. They will understand various flooring products such as carpet, vinyl, ceramic, and LVT as well as their applications. An advanced understanding of the construction industry and interpretation of specifications is critical to the success of a commercial flooring estimator. Maintaining a level of accuracy is the highest priority because it could impact financial outcomes and is a day-to-day responsibility.
Estimator Duties:
Estimators work closely with the project managers and business owners to provide the most accurate and comprehensive financial and budget analysis for their employers. Their duties often include;
- Obtain plans electronically from customers, contractors, and plan providers.
- Read specifications to understand the scope of work.
- Perform take-offs using measure square and determine quantities of materials required.
- Identify omissions and inaccuracies in plans.
- Research material requirements include all finish goods, trims, accessories, installation methods, etc.
- Provide seam diagrams and color-coded drawings, gather and interpret other related information necessary to ensure the entire scope of work is accounted for and properly executed.
- Maintain estimating files, including bid documents and plans.
- input quantities into measure square to accurately portray the cost of the project.
- Manage multiple projects/estimates and present a high level of organization to meet strict deadlines.
- Complete shop drawings.
- Initiate RFI's by the RFI deadlines.
- Work internally and with our customers.
- Other duties and responsibilities as required or requested.
Requirements:
- 1 to 2 years of experience recommended.

Essential Functions
* Preparation of construction related cost estimates, cost plans, and cost strategies
* Change order reviews and valuations of work in progress and bid analyses
* Preparation of studies and plans on value engineering, life cycle costing, and sustainable practices
* Prepares work to be estimated by gathering proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents.
* Identifies labor, material, and time requirements by studying proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents.
* Computes costs by analyzing labor, material, and time requirements.
* Resolves discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information.
* Presents prepared estimate by assembling and displaying numerical and descriptive information.
* Prepares special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
* Maintains cost data base by entering and backing up data.
* Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing technical publications.
* Contributes to team effort by accomplishing other duties as assigned.
* Contributes to team performance by collaboration and effective communication.
* Contributes to and understands the clients desired project outcomes, identifies opportunities to add value to accomplish the desired outcomes.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a positive proactive approach to the role, and will be committed to delivering customer service excellence, with good commercial results.
* Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management or Quantity Surveying or related field is required
* Recent experience and specialty in electrical and mechanical cost strategies
* Cost control in the commercial/institutional/Industrial sector concentrating on vertical construction
* Experience with conceptual and detailed measurement / pricing
* Experience in CMGC / GCCM process
* Experience with estimating software systems, onscreen takeoff software and BIM
* Professional certifications preferred
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
* Indoor office environment. May require work on site location when necessary.
* Equipment used includes computers and standard office machines.
* Essential physical tasks include: the ability to work on a computer and the ability to answer and speak on a telephone.
