De-bur and grind metal as necessary to achieve proper surface texture per job specifications Welds components in flat, vertical, or horizontal positions Recognize, set up, and operate hand and power tools common to the welding and fabrication trade Work with UHMW Machining and working with a lathe Understanding of pneumatics Chip or grind off excess weld, slag, or spatter, using hand scrapers or power chippers, portable grinders, or arc-cutting equipment Prepare all material surfaces to be welded, ensuring that there is no loose or thick scale, slag, rust, moisture, grease, or other foreign matter Mark or tag material with proper job number, piece marks, and other identifying marks as required You will support production with repairs or replacements of worn safety guards and mechanisms and maintain a clean, orderly work area Custom design, fabricate, machine, weld and document various machine safety guards and components Work from complex proto-type blueprints, sketches and verbal instruction Perform regular Preventative Maintenance as scheduled. Daily inspection of production line equipment prior to startup. Ensure proper operation and repair machines as needed. Support production staff on daily basis and help to resolve mechanical issues on production lines. Perform troubleshooting and repairs including, but not limited to, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic and plumbing systems throughout the facility. Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service. Perform regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment and plant facilities as scheduled. Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters, welders, machining equipment and material handling equipment in performing duties. Comply with OSHA Safety and all company, USDA, FDA regulations for food plants. This requires the understanding of HAACP and SSOP plans and the ability to comply with these regulations. Perform other duties as assigned or needed. Detect faulty operations, faulty machinery, defective material and report those and any unusual situations to proper supervision. Order materials and parts required for repairs and maintenance. Work overtime as needed and scheduled. Job Requirements: High School Diploma or equivalent Minimum 3 years welding experience Experience doing 3-A Sanitary welds Ability to read prints with AutoCAD software Must be physically fit and able to work on feet most of the day. Capable of lifting 75 pounds repetitively. Experience in manufacturing environment preferred. About the Opportunity: Primarily perform grit blast duties, and learn all the processes to plan, lay out, repair and install sheet metal products and parts. Location: Manchester, CT This role will be onsite 100% of the time. Responsibilities: Part masking of critical no blast areas, and markings Precise Stripping of coating from aerospace parts using grit blast. Work to specific tech manuals requirement for grit blasting. Look up, read, and interpret specification. Visually Inspect parts for coating removal Stand for long periods of time. Able to work with arms in a blast cabinet. Perform general machine maintenance including but not limited to (replace hoses, gloves, empty fill grit, change nozzles, ) Use of basic hand tools (screwdriver, Wrenches etc,) Move heavy grit barrels with hand truck Learn and gain a better understanding of calibrated tooling and equipment such as but not limited to vernier calipers, height gages, pi-tapes, plug gages, micrometers, go/no go gages, thread gages, cylindrical plug and vertical dividing head. Become proficient in interpreting blueprints to determine how and where to fabricate, assemble and install sheet metal products Become proficient in measuring, marking dimensions, and lay out material to be installed using tools such as scribes, rulers, calculators and squares Become proficient in fastening joints and seams in sheet metal with solder, welds, caulk, bolts and metal driver clips, ensuring work is done carefully and bonds will last Assist in checking parts using specified gages or check parts using furnished fixtures to see that dimensions are being maintained. Consistently maintain specific tolerances and accurately perform dimensions Required Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent or 1 year of relevant experience Must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis without sponsorship now or in the future. Must be able to perform work subject to ITAR/EAR regulations. Must be able to frequently sit, stand and walk. Must be able to lift and carry up to 15 pounds. Must be able to have prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
