As Ecological Field Lead, you will: Lead ecological field surveys including but not limited to wetland and stream delineations, endangered species surveys, botanical investigations, environmental inspections and compliance monitoring. Work with a team of professionals to conduct a variety of ecological studies and environmental investigations across the eastern U.S. Lead the preparation of wetland delineation and other technical reports for a range of energy projects. As Ecological Field Lead, you are: A trusted leader, skilled in directing both the technical and logistical elements of conducting field studies in remote locations. An experienced expert in ecological and environmental science, including wetland ecology and delineation procedures. Happy being on the road - visiting job sites, working with colleagues in remote areas and difficult terrain, and interacting with agencies, clients, and the public. Weekly travel will be required, and you will work as part of a team hiking in rough terrain, exposed to weather and outdoor hazards and requiring long or irregular hours. As Ecological Field Lead, you have: Bachelor's degree or commensurate experience in Ecology, Biology, Environmental Studies, Fish and Wildlife Science, Natural Resources or related field. Relevant experience working in the environmental or biological sciences industry. You have proven expertise with leading wetland delineations in OH, WV, PA, VA, MD and/or surrounding states. Wetland delineation training and certification (PWS/WPIT) are strongly preferred. Experience conducting botanical, avian, mammal, and aquatic surveys are a plus, and you will have the opportunity to lead these efforts as well. Travel Requirements Expectation of 90% daily travel throughout VA, PA, WV, and OH. Overnight stays required. Physical Requirements Ability to work in outdoor environments under varying weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, and rugged terrain. Exposure to active construction sites. Capable of walking, hiking, or standing for extended periods during field and site visits. Must be able to lift and carry tools, equipment, technical samples, documents, and other materials weighing up to 40-50 pounds. Frequent bending, crouching, and climbing may be required during fieldwork and sample collection. Ability to safely operate and wear personal protective equipment (PPE), such as helmets, safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and boots as required by site safety protocols. Visual acuity and manual dexterity to handle technical tools, read maps and instruments, observe site conditions, and document findings accurately. Comfortable working in remote or isolated locations, sometimes for extended durations. Comfortable working in confined spaces and/or at heights, as required by specific project sites. The primary function of this position is to provide the overall technical oversight of engineering scopes for EPC or Design-Build projects with challenging schedule milestones. Helping our customers optimize their projects through creative, value engineering solutions and working around supply chain obstacles is a key part of the role. The projects may include small, fast track projects or major projects up to $100MM. This position may also be involved in troubleshooting electrical projects or providing commissioning support for the Owner. The position will work with multiple business units and project managers on assigned projects and may oversee multiple projects in various stages of development. The position requires periodic travel to job sites nationwide and periodic short term on-site assignments. RESPONSIBILITIES: Providing engineering solutions that support our customers' technology solutions and provide cost effective, constructable designs. Delivers designs that support safe delivery of our projects and safe solutions for our customers when energized. Responsible for implementing and executing the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of our engineering activities and solutions in coordination with the Project Management and Field Management Team Assure that our subcontractors provide quality project teams and the appropriate, experienced talent to provide a safe, high quality design. Establish project objectives and performance standards as defined by the Company's operating policies and procedures and the project turnover process. Support the project proposal effort and support the estimating needs where required. Often the engineering manager will be an integral part of the proposal process identifying the critical equipment, materials specifications and technical solutions to meet our customers' requirements. Support sales efforts through meetings with our customers, site visits, vendor shops, and other operating units to determine best solutions for our new projects. Assists in defining engineering requirements, selecting engineering companies based on company qualifications and experience, resource availability, workload / backlog, project understanding, cost, and references. Have a complete understanding of all plans, contract, and specification requirements to ensure the Company's interests are always protected, specific contractual obligations are adhered to and all work is completed accordingly. Participate in the development of all project schedules, budgets and other project related reports. Ensure their accuracy and that any required updates are done in a timely manner. Support the procurement processes of EPC projects by working directly with our engineers and vendors to establish the most economical solutions, and maintain schedules while urgently addressing all critical path items Maintain a strong working relationship with the client, owner, engineer, vendors, suppliers and other project related firms and personnel to minimize conflicts and maximize the outcomes of all project activities. A demonstrated knowledge of complex multi-discipline packages and coordinating multi-discipline packages - civil, foundations, structural steel, pre- engineered buildings, HVAC, mechanical and piping, insulation, electrical, instrumentation, telecommunications, life safety systems and other specialty systems.
