Example of Duties Performs work in conjunction with the Park Tech 2 position description. Assists with leading work crews in general landscape and facilities maintenance. Performs a variety of landscaping maintenance duties such as mowing, trimming, fertilizing, edging, etc. May perform mechanical, carpentry, masonry, plumbing, painting and electrical maintenance work. Performs complex irrigation system repairs Performs auditing of irrigation systems. Performs preventative irrigation system maintenance. Assists with startup and shut down of irrigation system and maintenance of water features throughout the gardens. Assists with maintaining inventory of irrigation parts and supplies. Works with outside contractors to repair and upgrade irrigation system. Performs equipment maintenance on vehicles and equipment such as, but not limited to: trucks, off-road vehicles, mowers, trimmers, blowers, snow removal equipment, edgers, chainsaws /power tools, etc. Assists with maintenance of greenhouse structure and mechanicals. Assists with record keeping and administrative duties as required. Performs snow and ice removal duties. May work with a variety of volunteers on various projects. Performs manual labor, duties relation to development of park projects as assigned. Assists with group park projects as assigned. Operates a variety of vehicles and equipment including trucks, grounds maintenance equipment, power tools, chainsaws, Bobcat, tractors, etc. May provide instruction to others in various aspects of assigned duties. Qualifications Education: Completion of secondary education (high school or GED) plus some additional vocational/technical training or other specialized formal education or equivalent in landscaping, irrigation, carpentry, construction, equipment/vehicle mechanics and some experience in a related capacity/field or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Language Skills: Ability to communicate effectively and courteously with coworkers and general public on a daily basis. Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate fractions, decimals, and percentages. Reasoning Ability: Ability to work with a minimum amount of supervision. Ability to interpret and carry out a variety of instructions; define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions; maintain accurate records, understand manuals and verbal instructions that are technical in nature, and work alone on most tasks. Licenses, Registrations: Possession of a valid Ohio driver license, insurable by Metro Parks' insurance carrier, and ability to conform to the driving standards policy. Full-time Description Primary Purpose: The Technician is responsible for the maintenance and repair and up-time of Admar Supply and customer equipment. Essential Functions: Inspect and tag returned rental equipment noting any damage or other necessary repairs. Using information on repair tag, and with input from Service Writer and Service Manager, troubleshoot equipment and make necessary repairs. Make sure equipment is properly repaired on a timely basis. Report problems or issues with repairs to Service Manager. Provide detailed description of problem/issue and recommend solution, both short-term and long term. Ensure all repairs have been fully and properly completed. Perform complete inspection of equipment to make sure no other repairs are needed; safety features are in place and working properly; equipment is clean and decals are readable and unit is rent-ready condition. Complete all required paperwork on a timely basis; thoroughly complete all forms and reports making sure all entries are correct and legible. Work in a safe manner obeying all safety rules; keep shop area clean and organized. Correctly use safety equipment and PPE as required. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts. Primary Responsibilities: Process applications for special hauling permits for oversize/overweight vehicles on state highway systems. With management approval, assign routes for movement of oversize/overweight vehicles. Respond to requests for insurance verification & routing beyond district perimeters.
