The Port of San Francisco is an enterprise agency of the City and County of San Francisco and is governed by a Commission of five members appointed by the Mayor. Job Description
The Port of San Francisco is seeking a college student intern to support its Occupational Health and Safety programs. The intern will assist with fieldwork, maintain safety supplies and equipment, and conduct site visits.
The essential functions of this position include but are not limited to:
Meets with employees to follow-up on safety concerns.
Maintains various databases such as hearing conservation, medical monitoring appointments, and safety data sheets.
Assists with the coordination of safety and health training programs.
Reviews and updates training content and employee training files.
Participates in ergonomic assessments.
Conducts basic safety inspections.
Assists in the ordering and tracking of safety purchases.
Assists with industrial hygiene monitoring.
Develops draft Codes of Safe Practices for maintenance operations.
Performs other duties as required.
Nature of The Work
Duties may include sustained physical effort including but not limited to continuous walking, bending and climbing ladders in performing work in the field and from vessels with potential exposure to health and safety hazards. Ability to travel to various locations throughout San Francisco.
Qualifications
Applicants must be enrolled in a program at an accredited community college or university leading to a degree in biology, biochemistry, environmental science, kinesiology, ergonomics, nursing or related fields.
Applicants must have completed at least 48 semester units or 72 quarter units by the application filing deadline.
Interns must maintain enrollment at an accredited community college or university for continued employment as an Occupational Health and Safety Intern.
The ideal candidate for this position has an interest or knowledge of occupational safety and health, ability to work with a variety of people in team settings, and work independently with appropriate supervision.

Work Schedule:

The internship follows a 40-hour work-week, generally between the hours of 8 AM and 5 PM, Monday to Friday. Duties can include building or updating public dashboards, combining data from multiple data sources, writing memos, evaluating impact of program rule changes, conducting surveys and gathering stakeholder input, determining potential impacts to underserved or disadvantaged communities, and improving the range of transportation options available. This Division is also involved in helping standardize or set industry standards on emerging mobility trip and telemetry data, best practices for shared device permittees, and informing legislated changes. Minimum Qualifications:
Education: At the time of submitting application, you must be enrolled in an accredited university or a community college pursuing a degree in City Planning, Environmental Policy, Management, Environmental Studies, Geography, Public Administration, Public Policy, Transportation Planning, Transportation Management, Urban Planning, Urban Studies, any engineering degree, or a related field.
You must be currently enrolled and continuing in an associate, undergraduate or graduate program or entering/continuing a graduate program in the Fall 2026
Students enrolled in second-to-last or last semester and will soon graduate are also encouraged to apply as you may still be selected for the program within six months of graduation.
Experience: No previous experience is necessary for individuals pursuing a master's degree or higher in a qualifying field. For undergraduate candidates, prior planning or relevant internship experience is required to compete for positions at the 5381 level.

The Mental Health Associate/Intern will provide on-site mental health services to formerly homeless children and their families living in permanent supportive housing in Pleasant Hill. The position can be part or full-time depending on your needs. Individual supervision, group supervision and training are all provided. Associates provide services in an on-site play therapy room, in family homes and in the community. Some evening and occasional weekend hours will be required.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
Support formerly homeless children to reach their full potential (75%)

Provide milieu-based mental health services to
individual children
living in permanent supportive housing who are experiencing emotional challenges. Many of these children may be receiving EPSDT (Early and Periodic Screening Diagnosis and Treatment) services.
Provide on-site individual and group mental health therapeutic services to children.
Assist in delivering on-site parenting support groups to families.
Collaborate with case managers and the youth enrichment coordinator to provide support for individual children and their families, using a team approach. Assist with staff supervision of volunteer programs and community activities delivered to families served by CCIH. These may include evening and occasional weekend commitments.
Work with other staff members to provide community resources for families and individuals, such as social and health related activities, life-skills and employment support, and youth enrichment.
Stay on top of the paperwork and administrative details to keep the program running (15%)

Complete accurate and timely EPSDT chart notes for all services provided to children who are assigned under this contract.
Meet individual EPSDT contract goals for hourly billing, including averaging a minimum of 10 - 12 hours per week (depending on work schedule) of direct service to clients who are assigned under this contract.
Assist the services team with appropriate clinical documentation, including progress notes, service delivery documentation, reports, and forms.
Continuously improve your skills and work with team members and community partners to provide excellent services (10%)
Participate in weekly group and individual supervision, using that time to work on developing therapeutic skills and clinical knowledge, as well as exploring growth opportunities as a mental health provider.

The Capital & Planning Division is responsible for delivering a portfolio of over 80 Capital Improvement Projects with a value of over $600M to San Francisco City parks. In addition to improvements to existing recreational facilities in the city, the division is also responsible for the identification, acquisition and development of new parks and facilities, and aligning the delivery of new parks and park improvements with San Francisco City goals and policies, and residents' needs.
Together with community members and park advocates, the Capital and Planning Division strives to create and renovate parks that solve social problems and enhance community resilience.
The Planning Unit
The Planning Unit, within the Capital and Planning Division, plans for the future of our open spaces and works on a wide range of projects that support open space improvements, development, and park acquisitions, as well as a variety of land use issues related to the City's park system. The unit works on environmental compliance, land use planning, urban design, code enforcement, historic preservation, park improvement plans, acquisitions, grant writing, transportation demand management and public outreach as relevant to park properties. The unit is comprised of six planners, an analyst and three interns.
Planning Intern Roles & Responsibilities:
Perform site review, research and data analysis, and preparation of reports related to property acquisition, park improvement projects and natural resources.
Prepare informational and analytical maps and graphic materials using ArcGIS software and the Adobe Creative Suite.
Prepare presentations and staff reports to citizen advisory groups and the Recreation and Park Commission; assist project managers at community meetings; conduct user intercept surveys.
Analyze existing and proposed open spaces and population growth impacts.
Assist planning staff with review, analysis and preparation as needed of Environmental Review documents such as California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) reviews and SF Planning Dept Certificates of Appropriateness (CoA) for projects impacting Recreation and Park facilities.
Evaluate shadow impact studies for Proposition K (SF's “Sunlight Ordinance”) analysis and prepare reports with recommendations for Commission consideration.
Assist in grant applications through grant writing, policy and environmental sciences research, and graphics preparation.
Monitor and update capital project schedules in Airtable and other software.
Basic administrative support including filing, ordering supplies, receiving mail, data entry, word processing, creating spreadsheets, and other administrative tasks as needed.
Project Management
The Capital Division delivers renovations and new construction of a variety of neighborhood and citywide recreational facilities. Current capital projects include the renovation of various community recreation centers, clubhouses and restrooms; park landscape, playground, and adult fitness improvements; natural area and trail construction; restoration of significant historic park sites and structures; and master planning and programming for future park improvements. Projects are funded through multiple sources including general obligation bonds, a property tax set aside (Open Space Fund), grants, and philanthropic donations. The team is comprised of 13 project managers, two assistant project managers, and one intern.
Project Management Intern Roles & Responsibilities:
Research historical park documents for improvement projects.
Prepare informational and graphic material for community outreach, grant applications, and other communications using Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office and potentially computer-aided design software such as AutoCAD or Revit to develop site maps, plans, visualizations, etc.
Support community meetings including printing materials, taking notes, analyzing survey results and preparing reports.
Photograph site conditions at various park locations, including organizing project photos.

Work Schedule:

SUMMARY:
The BioMarin Summer Internship Program will enable students to gain valuable experience and knowledge of the processes and systems within BioMarin, while gaining an insight into the pharmaceutical/biotech industry.
The Clinical Pharmacology group is responsible for the design, execution, interpretation, and reporting of nonclinical and clinical pharmacology aspects of BioMarin's development and commercial pipeline. This includes the assessment of PK/PD relationships of small molecule, biologic and gene therapy drug candidates that are situated throughout all stages of development(Phase 0-IV). Team members are responsible for the planning, implementation, and organization of regulatory filings along with presentation of clinical pharmacology data to internal cross-functional teams, external collaborators, US and ex-US regulatory authorities and the scientific community.
JOB DESCRIPTION/PROJECT:
The Clinical Pharmacology Intern will be responsible for the design, analysis, interpretation, and reporting of PK/PD studies in support of molecules in nonclinical and clinical development. This individual will work with Clinical Pharmacology leaders on projects and provide support in designing the Clinical Pharmacology strategy with an emphasis on dose and regimen selection. The assignment will be related to core clinical pharmacology activities with specific tasks targeted to answer key development questions and achieve short-term goals for the department. The assignment will span a period of 10-12 weeks concluded with an internal presentation of results of project to leadership & publish the findings at a scientific conference.
Required Skills:
* Strong training in PK/PD analyses with a preference for population-based modeling and simulation
* Extensive hands-on experience with non-compartmental and compartmental PK/PD analysis software
* Excellent writing and verbal communication skills
Desired Skills:
* Experience in clinical/nonclinical PK/PD study design, implementation, and interpretation
* Ability to work in a matrix environment and with different leadership styles
Qualifications/Eligibility:
* Graduate level student with a strong interest in Clinical Pharmacology, Pharmacokinetics, PK/PD Modeling and Simulation
* Student must be returning to school in the Fall Term OR has graduated within the 1 year of the start of the program

VEG's Veterinary Technician Student Externship Program gives vet tech students hands-on experience in emergency medicine while working alongside our credentialed, emergency veterinary technicians. Students will focus on honing their emergency skills including obtaining patient vitals, processing laboratory samples, caring for hospitalized patients, triaging emerging cases, and collaborating in a fast-paced environment. Note: This is an unpaid externship and rabies vaccinations are required unless your school's rabies mitigation policy allows you to be unvaccinated and still handle unvaccinated pets.

Your externship must need to begin within 6 months of application.
