Position Responsibilities
Lay out, construct, install, maintain, and repair HVAC-R equipment, including associated controls and components.
Work from blueprints, sketches, and verbal instructions to complete assigned tasks effectively.
Utilize testing equipment to read and adjust controls for optimal system performance.
Install and adjust valve controls, perform electrical wiring, and set up electronic controls for HVAC-R systems.
Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain various types of refrigeration and air conditioning equipment.
Conduct routine maintenance on HVAC-R systems according to the Preventative Maintenance schedule.
Service HVAC-R equipment in office, commercial, and industrial settings based on service requests.
Collaborate with customers, vendors, and engineers to gather information on equipment operations and maintenance history.
Monitor system operations using the Energy Management Control System (EMCS) and perform visual inspections for defects.
Diagnose malfunctions in mechanical, electrical, plumbing, or electronic systems and develop corrective action plans.
Maintain and program moisture control, airflow, and thermal balance to ensure indoor air quality.
Install, maintain, and leak test refrigeration systems, adhering to safety practices and refrigerant handling protocols.
Assemble and attach refrigeration components using appropriate methods, including soldering and brazing.
Perform precision alignment of equipment using tools such as lasers and dial indicators.
Monitor and maintain water and chemicals in open and closed systems to ensure compliance with specifications.
Operate mechanical lifts safely while adhering to personal protective equipment guidelines.
Consult with co-workers, supervisors, or engineers when assistance is needed and document repairs and modifications upon job completion.
Maintain required certifications, including EPA Universal Refrigerant Technician Certification and Lock Out/Tag Out procedures.
Physical Demands and Potential Hazards:
Perform physical tasks that include lifting weights ranging from 10-15 lbs to 15-35 lbs.
Engage in various movements such as reaching, handling, turning, twisting, lifting, lowering, climbing, balancing, bending, kneeling, crouching, and squatting.
Work in environments that may involve contact with metals, solvents, and coolants.
Operate in proximity to moving parts and tools, sharp cutters, and potential slipping hazards.

Basic Qualifications:

Representative duties include:
Serving as a member of the Service Department which is organized to conduct HVACR servicing jobs promptly and efficiently.
Performing routine HVAC service activities without direct oversight or on-site assistance.
Conducting point-of-work sales of IAQ services, unit components, add-on units, and residential & commercial service contracts.
Developing lead referrals for the sales staff.
Conducting non-service work in support of the Service Manager and assist the Installation Departments, as assigned.
Performing related duties as directed by the Service Manager.
Job Qualifications:
High school graduate
For a lead journeyman position - must be a graduate of a post-secondary HVAC program of instruction of two or more years in duration.
One or more years of successful experience, either as a residential service, commercial service or installation technician.
Good verbal and reading skills, including the ability to read and apply manufacturers' instructions and to clearly communicate with residential and commercial customers, suppliers, and team members of Serenity Air.
Physical ability to perform all duties noted above under the conditions, circumstances, and extreme weather conditions found in the state of WA.
Interest and initiative in maintaining and advancing his or her HVAC skills through a combination of self-study, company training, manufacturers' workshops, and other professional development activities.
Current WDL and the ability to operate all vehicles in the corporate fleet within 30 days of initial employment. Incumbent must be insurable by current Serenity Air insurance carrier.
Ability to pass a background check.
Ability to pass a drug screening.
Ability to work under pressures of time, weather, confined spaces, customer needs, and backlog constraints.

The Bellevue College (BC) Maintenance Department within Campus Operations supports the College's primary mission by maintaining internal and external areas of all College Facilities and other assets.
