Independence Plus is now hiring a full-time Nursing Education Manager (our full job title is Clinical Respiratory Education Manager or CREM) to fill a critical role in our specialized Home Nursing division. This role requires a Registered Nurse, however dual licensure (nursing and respiratory) is preferred. The CREM reports to the Director of Compliance and will work out of our Oak Brook, IL (DuPage County) office.
At Independence Plus, we provide skilled at-home healthcare for adult and pediatric patients with a variety of different disease processes and conditions, including spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injuries, catastrophic injuries and illnesses, ventilator and tracheostomy dependence, neuromuscular diseases, seizure disorders, cardiovascular diseases, and birth or genetic defects.
Job Description Summary
The CREM will manage the education of field nurses by assisting the admission process and problem-solving existing cases by working with Clinical, Scheduling, and HME departments, along with field personnel, patient's physician, facility's discharge team, etc. The CREM teaches clinical training classes and the orientation of nursing staff to patient's care plan, emphasizing the importance of providing quality nursing care and adhering to Independence Plus policies and procedures, State, Federal, and CHAP guidelines.
Essential Job Functions / Responsibilities
Works with a multidisciplinary team to provide quality clinical education and training in order to improve patient outcomes
Is familiar with patient care, treatments, and company policies and procedures in order to be fully prepared when orienting nursing staff
Coordinates and conducts training/skills lab, annual skills competency, as well as teaching clinical classes
Coordinates and conducts additional training for field clinical staff as needed
Ability to work private duty shifts as requested with the goal of stabilizing the care for permanent staff
Serves as an On-Call Clinical Manager in after-hours on-call rotation along with other administrative nursing staff
Provides education and patient care in a way that satisfies patients and families, meets or exceeds standard nursing practice, and follows IPI policies and procedure, as well as State, Federal, and CHAP guidelines (must be willing to teach in a lab, a patient's home, and occasionally in facilities).
Assists with supervisory visits for Home Nursing (private duty)
Requirements:
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in Illinois
Minimum of two years' experience with medically complex patients, preferably with an emphasis in skilled Home Nursing (private duty)
Durable Medical Equipment knowledge a plus
Understands performance improvement, quality assurance, and utilization management
Ability to maintain flexibility while fulfilling role obligations
Possesses technology skills related to clinical education and software
Strives to improve the process by building efficiencies and ensuring effectiveness of the program
Demonstrates humility and the ability to be open to constructive criticism
Self-starter and able to work with minimal supervision

Main Duties & Responsibilities
Collaborates with the Director of Credentialing with developing and implementing policies and protocols necessary to verify and ensure that Erie licensed independent practitioners and other licensed and certified clinical staff are processed in accordance with Erie and industry practice standards and ensures successful results on external surveys or audits of regulatory practices.
Supervises, trains and coaches Credentialing Specialists, new and current, to ensure performance outcomes for department's goals.
Directs and oversees all aspects of credentialing processes to ensure compliance with all standards, bylaws, state and federal requirements, accreditation standards (includes but not limited to National Committee for Quality Assurance (“NCQA”), Health Resources Services, Administration (“HRSA”) and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (“CMS”)), payer plans and enrollments, immigration support, professional liability coverage and protections, and Human Resources.
Manages all disclosures of claims history, adverse and disciplinary actions with Director of Credentialing, Chief Clinical Officer, and Compliance Officer. Participates with submission of regulatory reporting of disclosures to hospitals, payer plans, and to State and federal agencies.
Maintains knowledge of current and changing regulatory requirements and assists with necessary policy revisions, communication of changes to credentialing specialists, HR and provider leadership, and other Erie employees and business partners.
Education
Required:
High School diploma or equivalent required
Current NAMSS Certification as Certified Professional Medical Services Management (“CPMSM”) or Certified Professional Credentialing Specialist (“CPCS”).
Preferred:
Undergraduate or graduate degree in healthcare or business management a plus.
