* Must be willing to commit to all required course contact hours for each class assignment as scheduled.
* Responsible for maintaining curriculum rigor in alignment with state requirements.
* Course Description: history, morphology, physiology, nutritional growth requirements, metabolism, methods of identification. Focus on disease-causing microorganisms, appropriate prevention, treatment, control mechanisms. Specific/non-specific host defense mechanisms, applications of immunology examined.
* Required to manage the instructional process, to include but not limited to: course preparation, student attendance records, student assessment, grading, and must be accessible to students outside of scheduled classroom time (to include electronic communications as well as in-person meetings).
* Final grades posted within 72-hours of course completion.
* Assignments will emphasize courses delivered in traditional and alternate modes, scheduled weekdays, evenings and/or weekends in classrooms or science lab.
* Maintain electronic communication with students and staff, in regard to course information, through NWTC email and/or Canvas.
* Work effectively with Microbiology faculty and department team members.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND WORK EXPERIENCE
* Master's degree and a combination of 18 graduate/undergraduate credits in Microbiology or related subfield. Transcripts must identify at least 9 graduate/undergraduate credits in Microbiology (i.e., the instructional discipline) and another 9 graduate/undergraduate credits in the related discipline.
* Examples of qualifying disciplines could include, but are not limited to:
* Microbiology
* Genetics
* Immunology
* Minimum of one year (2,000 hours) of paid occupational experience outside the field of education, preferably in Microbiology/Immunology in a hospital or medical setting.
* Ability to work in a team environment.
* Demonstrate knowledge of Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.

The incumbent will be responsible for classroom instruction, maintaining course records, grading, program curriculum, mentoring students outside the classroom, and course curriculum. This will include working with other full-time and part-time faculty at the college to make modifications and changes to best prepare our graduates for either further study or to enter the workforce. College Faculty are required to hold 10 office hours per week in addition to teaching. Teaching load is 30 contract units a year, typically this is 15 units per semester. Position Title: Group Exercise Instructor - Cycle InstructorLocation: Mercy HealthPlex AndersonClass Format: Part-time Summary: Join our team of full time and part time staff at Mercy HealthPlex Anderson. Our facility is managed by Power Wellness Management, a company that specializes in managing state-of-the-art medically integrated health and fitness centers. Power Wellness is a medical fitness industry pioneer who improves the lives of clients with a unique and customized approach to medical fitness center development and management. Their turnkey method takes away the stress of the development and management process allowing clients to focus on other areas of their business.
The Group Exercise Instructor is responsible for teaching group exercise classes in a professional and safe manner to the members and guests of the Fitness Center.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Teach Group Exercise classes as scheduled, providing modifications to accommodate varying fitness levels. 2. Understand contraindicated exercises providing a safe and effective approach to exercise. 3. Maintain industry certification in good standing and meet continuing education requirements. 4. Ensure arrival time allows for proper set up so that class begins on time, ends on time and that area is cleaned up after class. 5. Report any equipment needs, or broken equipment needing repair to supervisor immediately following class. 6. Record participation numbers after every Group Exercise class. 7. Demonstrate accountability to schedule by avoiding missed classes and seek substitute instructors in advance. 8. Provide a fun and engaging experience for the participants. 9. Work towards meeting departmental and organizational goals. 10. The ability to be flexible and accommodating as it relates to center hours and work schedules. 11. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: • High School diploma or GED preferred. • A group exercise instructor certification required. Preferably an NCCA accredited certification. • Nationally recognized NCCA Personal Trainer certification accepted for conducting strength and conditioning group fitness classes that are not licensed formats requiring a specific certification (Yoga, Pilates, Zumba, Les Mills, MOSSA, BARRE, Aqua, Cycle, etc).• Certification for some specialty group exercise class instruction is required. • Minimum 2 years of experience in group class instruction, teaching a variety of styles, levels and population preferred. • CPR/AED certification required within 90 days of hire (provided by Power Wellness) • Must possess excellent inter-personal and communication skills, and the ability to work with members in a positive, service based manner. • Ability to multi-task and maintain a controlled and professional demeanor.
