Job Description
Uncommon Special Education teachers are passionate about developing and monitoring accommodations for students with special needs. Special Education teachers advocate for students and believe that specialized instruction and related services increase academic achievement. Special Education teachers offer academic, emotional, and physical support while maintaining high expectations.
Responsibilities
1. Instruction
You'll modify, differentiate, and teach an inclusive curriculum that emphasizes diversity.
You'll collaborate with families and Special Education teams to develop 504 and Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) that offer appropriate accommodations and modifications.
You'll create an inclusive and safe environment where students feel empowered to become self-guided learners.
2. Special Education Specific Responsibilities

Job Description
Uncommon Middle School English Language Arts (ELA) teachers are passionate about literature and building an engaging classroom culture. Our teachers develop subject mastery and have a keen sense of the socio-emotional changes middle schoolers experience. At the heart of all ELA classes is an emphasis on writing and discourse designed to give students the tools to be confident in the power of their own voice. * Utilize SCIP-R physical interventions on an emergency basis for the protection of staff and students.
* Assure that accurate attendance records are maintained and are to be submitted appropriately prior to the completion of each month.
* Submit monthly and/or quarterly reports to appropriate parties.
* Maintain regular communication with each family and service provider for each student.
* Contact each family for each use of an emergency intervention in the timeline consistent with agency policy and part 200 regulations.

Job Description
The position of Teacher Assistant includes fostering an environment to promote the physical, mental, social, and academic well-being of children at Full Heart Child Care. Teacher Assistants will provide quality care in balance with social and intellectual experiences. With appropriate guidance, children will grow both psychologically and socially in the care of Lead Teachers and Teacher Assistants. Responsibilities:

Day-to-Day Caretaker
Create a safe and welcoming environment for children in care
Feed children healthy, approved food from a designated, parent-approved menu
Change children's diapers at least every two hours or more often as needed. Take potty-trained children to the restroom on an as-needed basis. Apply diaper cream as needed
Use the Brightwheel app to record all meals, toileting/diapering, and naps
Use the Brightwheel app to take at least one picture of each child for parent viewing
Comfort children who are struggling with any aspect of their self-regulation ability (feeling sad, angry, hurt)
Report any injuries to the director immediately and provide care according to your ability
Assist children in falling asleep- this may mean rubbing backs, rocking, etc.
Provide individualized care for each child, but especially infants. Infants should be fed according to a schedule provided by parents and sleep according to a schedule provided by parents
Education/Behavior Management
Assist the lead teacher in planning age-appropriate lesson plans for the classroom in the areas of art, sensory, science, math, and literacy
Help to create an environment that fosters learning through play by having activities available to children all day, every day
Incorporate process-based art in the classroom and have open-ended art available
Always have a sensory-play option available for children (water, rice, dirt, etc.)
Use appropriate, positive behavior management techniques for children in care
Help to decorate the room and create spaces/boards that represent the themes of the curriculum. Refrain from negative discipline, yelling, or any type of corporal punishment. This is a zero-tolerance policy, and failing to comply will result in immediate termination
Collaborate with other teachers in the room to determine the correct form of behavior management
Training/Compliance
Follow procedures and guidelines for any regulation-based portion of the day (diapering, sunscreen, behavior management, etc.)
Maintain required training hours (on and off-site)
Seek out additional training in areas of interest/need
Maintain ratios at all times- this means you may not leave the classroom without another staff member stepping in
Refrain from using your cell phone in classrooms

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Exercises full compliance with the Agency's Code of Conduct, all Agency policies and procedures and Federal and State laws and regulations
Manages student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing positive working relationships, rules and procedures
Supervises, escorts, and transports students throughout the entire day and after school when needed
Provides coverage for teacher absence in the classroom and in “specials” area
