Position Purpose
Under the general supervision of the School Principal the teacher will develop students' skills and competence.
Essential Performance Responsibilities
Develops and administers curriculum consistent with school goals and objectives.
Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, and student learning.
Develops lesson plans and instructional materials for subject area, and translates lesson plans into learning experiences to develop pertinent sequential assignments, challenge students, and best utilize the available time for instruction.
Teaches knowledge and skills and promotes creative thinking in all related subject areas.
Designs learning activities.
Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning and progress, and modifies instructional methods to fit individual student's needs, including students with special needs; conducts individual and small group instruction as needed.
Continues to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops or professional meetings, or by conducting research.
Organizes and maintains a system for accurate and complete record-keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievement and attendance as required by district procedures and applicable laws.
Encourages parental involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and parents.
Ensures that student conduct conforms to the school's standards and school district policies, and establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
Coordinates with other professional staff members, especially within grade level, and participates in faculty meetings and committees.
Selects and requisitions appropriate books, instructional aids and other supplies and equipment and maintains inventory records.
Additional Duties
Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.

The teacher is responsible for preparing an environment that meets the sensitive period/plane of development of the children he/she works with.
1. The teacher is responsible for preparing an environment in which the furnishings and materials are complete and correspond to the needs of the group; for maintaining a clear, orderly, and attractive Montessori environment, including the care and maintenance of classroom materials and equipment; for communicating needs for the classroom in accordance with school policy, i.e., maintaining inventory of classroom materials and any additional materials needed.
2. The teacher creates an environment that demonstrates rapport with, respect and kindness for, all students as well as between students. The teacher models and teaches conflict resolution and problem solving strategies in the classroom.
3. The teacher should promptly report discipline concerns beyond typical classroom strategies to the principal. A meeting with parents (and principal, if necessary) should be arranged.

Professional Responsibility
The teacher is involved in ongoing self-assessment and refinement of practice in the classroom as well as collaborative professional growth.
1. The teacher participates in a regular evaluation process including classroom observations, feedback conferences, and an annual self-evaluation toward goals set by the teacher and/or in conjunction with the Principal.
2. The teacher maintains his/her teaching skills and participates in professional development activities (both within the school community and attendance at conferences, workshops, etc.). The teacher is a member of professional organizations including but not limited to the American Montessori Society and is aware of major areas of research in teaching and resources for professional learning.
3. The teacher participates in collegial activities designed to make the entire school a productive learning environment, for example, age level meetings, curriculum discussion groups, working committees, mentoring, etc. It is expected that teachers attend all scheduled meetings and professional days as appropriate to their level. The teacher participates and shares information from professional development activities with colleagues to benefit the learning community.
Related Duties
1. The teacher conducts new student interviews and hosts prospective student applicants in the classroom as requested.
2. The teacher completes and maintains all records, reports, evaluations, and inventories of student records and tests in a timely manner as may be required by the school.
3. The teacher who works with assistants is responsible for the training and supervision of the assistant. The teacher is responsible for providing input into the evaluations of assistants in accordance with school policy.

Instructional assistant job in Lincoln, IL
Tri-County Special Education Association is seeking a dedicated and reliable Paraprofessional to support our students and staff in Hartsburg-Emden School District. This position plays a key role in providing academic, behavioral, and social support to students throughout the school day, including during classroom instruction and unstructured times such as lunch, recess, or transitions.
Responsibilities:
Assist classroom teachers by working with students individually or in small groups to reinforce instructional material.
Provide behavior support and posive reinforcement to students, including those with IEPs or 504 Plans.
Supervise and engage students during unstructured times with the abiity to take initiative, lead, and maintain control in a calm and respectful manner.
Help manage student behavior and provide redirection as needed to ensure a safe and productive environment.
Support students with physical or personal needs if required.
Maintain confidentiality and uphold school policies and procedures.
Communicate effectively with students, staff, and families as needed.
Other duties as assigned by the teacher or administration.
Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent
Illinois State Board of Education Paraprofessional License
Ability to take direction and work independently when needed
Experience working with children preferred
Must be patient, dependable, and committed to student success
