"linux," "java," and "connectivity" are among the most common skills that internet architects use at work. You can find even more internet architect responsibilities below, including:
Analytical skills. To carry out their duties, the most important skill for an internet architect to have is analytical skills. Their role and responsibilities require that "developers must analyze users’ needs and then design software to meet those needs." Internet architects often use analytical skills in their day-to-day job, as shown by this real resume: "monitored datastage performance on linux vm platform. "
Communication skills. Many internet architect duties rely on communication skills. "developers must be able to give clear instructions to others working on a project," so an internet architect will need this skill often in their role. This resume example is just one of many ways internet architect responsibilities rely on communication skills: "developed wcf services for communication from the ui servers to the db2 based mainframe computers. "
Problem-solving skills. Another skill that relates to the job responsibilities of internet architects is problem-solving skills. This skill is critical to many everyday internet architect duties, as "because developers are in charge of software from beginning to end, they must be able to solve problems that arise throughout the design process." This example from a resume shows how this skill is used: "participated in designing the viewpointe's onpointe platform, a cloud based information governance solution/ecm in a service-oriented architecture using java. "
Creativity. For certain internet architect responsibilities to be completed, the job requires competence in "creativity." The day-to-day duties of an internet architect rely on this skill, as "developers are the creative minds behind new computer software." For example, this snippet was taken directly from a resume about how this skill applies to what internet architects do: "added instrumentation to the creative toolset, an api that controls several ad formats. "
Detail oriented. A commonly-found skill in internet architect job descriptions, "detail oriented" is essential to what internet architects do. Internet architect responsibilities rely on this skill because "developers often work on many parts of an application or system at the same time and must therefore be able to concentrate and pay attention to detail." You can also see how internet architect duties rely on detail oriented in this resume example: "perform detailed ip telephony integration testing across multiple platforms for voice and data protocols in accordance with ietf standards. "
Compare different internet architects
Internet architect vs. Salesforce developer
A salesforce developer is responsible for analyzing a company's needs and devising systems and customs applications to support them. It is their responsibility to coordinate with various company experts to bring the applications to fruition. Should there be any issues, a salesforce developer needs to perform troubleshooting and corrective measures while conducting regular maintenance. Furthermore, a salesforce developer must educate company staff on how to use these applications by facilitating technical training or providing written instructions.
While similarities exist, there are also some differences between internet architects and salesforce developer. For instance, internet architect responsibilities require skills such as "linux," "connectivity," "sql," and "content management." Whereas a salesforce developer is skilled in "apex," "javascript," "soql," and "custom objects." This is part of what separates the two careers.
On average, salesforce developers reach similar levels of education than internet architects. Salesforce developers are 2.6% more likely to earn a Master's Degree and 2.6% less likely to graduate with a Doctoral Degree.Internet architect vs. Developer/consultant
A developer/consultant is responsible for developing system databases and applications, depending on the business' needs and clients' specifications. Developers/consultants design their services to manage optimal performance and maximize productivity for timely submission of projects, ensuring client satisfaction and loyalty. They also handle clients' inquiries and concerns, informing them about necessary adjustments to improve strategic procedures and processes. A developer/consultant must have excellent communication and analytical skills, as well as extensive experience with the technology industry.
In addition to the difference in salary, there are some other key differences worth noting. For example, internet architect responsibilities are more likely to require skills like "connectivity," "sql," "content management," and "infrastructure." Meanwhile, a developer/consultant has duties that require skills in areas such as "project management," "javascript," "hr," and "microservices." These differences highlight just how different the day-to-day in each role looks.
Developer/consultants earn higher levels of education than internet architects in general. They're 5.7% more likely to graduate with a Master's Degree and 2.6% more likely to earn a Doctoral Degree. What technology do you think will become more important and prevalent for internet architects in the next 3-5 years?
Associate Professor, College of Charleston
My suggestion is to try to be aware, as much as possible, of the latest and upcoming tech but focus on a specific set (or two) of hardware and software that most interests you. When I was younger, I tried staying on top of it all but quickly found that so much was coming out so fast that soon I spent all my time just trying to be on top of it all and unable to do much else. Technology has become so vast and diversified that to be good at something, you may not be able to do it all.
Professional and social networking can create professional communities where people who specialize in one set or two of technology or skills can share and exchange knowledge and expertise with colleagues and friends that complement each other. This is a strategy that I recommend.
Internet architect vs. Lead developer
A lead developer is responsible for creating software programs and applications, following the client and the business's software quality standards and design specifications. Lead developers assist a team of developers in implementing strategic procedures, managing system codes, debugging applications, running diagnostic tests, and troubleshooting defects to ensure its smooth performance. They also respond to clients' inquiries and concerns, performing feature adjustments as needed. A lead developer must have strong knowledge of the technology industry and command on programming languages and software design processes.
Some important key differences between the two careers include a few of the skills necessary to fulfill the responsibilities of each. Some examples from internet architect resumes include skills like "connectivity," "sql," "content management," and "infrastructure," whereas a lead developer is more likely to list skills in "javascript," "architecture," "web application," and "git. "
Most lead developers achieve a higher degree level compared to internet architects. For example, they're 5.1% more likely to graduate with a Master's Degree, and 1.2% more likely to earn a Doctoral Degree.Internet architect vs. Etl developer
An ETL developer is responsible for managing data storage systems to secure the organization's data and files for daily operations efficiency. ETL developers perform multiple system testing to ensure the system's accuracy, perform coding adjustments, and troubleshoot for any defects and inconsistencies. They work closely with other development teams to design storage functions to optimize solutions. An ETL developer must have extensive knowledge of the technology industry and a strong command of programming languages to develop an accurate and operational database.
Even though a few skill sets overlap between internet architects and etl developers, there are some differences that are important to note. For one, an internet architect might have more use for skills like "connectivity," "sql," "content management," and "infrastructure." Meanwhile, some responsibilities of etl developers require skills like "sql server," "data warehouse," "data analysis," and "bi. "
In general, etl developers hold higher degree levels compared to internet architects. Etl developers are 5.7% more likely to earn their Master's Degree and 2.4% less likely to graduate with a Doctoral Degree.Types of internet architect
