Essential Qualifications

Ability to use custodial systems such as those used to track work orders and two-way radios for communication. Major Duties
Under general supervision, the Custodian may work independently or as part of a custodial team to provide general cleaning and custodial care and support for assigned campus buildings, facilities, structures and adjacent areas and/or portions, like campus offices, classrooms, science laboratories, art rooms, auditoriums, gymnasiums, locker rooms, showers, restrooms, health and child care centers, student residences, patios, entryways, walkways, and workshops.
* Work assignments include cleaning and maintaining assigned areas, based upon the location of specific assignments: dusting and cleaning all surfaces; removing trash and recyclables; cleaning and disinfecting restrooms and replenishing supplies; cleaning glass doors, windows, and blinds; removing gum and graffiti; cleaning furniture and upholstery; cleaning light fixtures and HVAC air diffusers; polishing woodwork and metal surfaces; cleaning interior and exterior stairwells, walkways, and elevators.
* Cleans and maintains campus floors, including sweeping, dry and/or wet mopping; stripping, sealing, waxing, and polishing floors; vacuuming; spot and full cleaning of carpets; responding to custodial/cleaning emergencies; gathering and delivering trash and recyclables to areas of central aggregation.
* Safeguards assigned areas from unauthorized use and access by locking and unlocking doors and windows; arranging and setting up furniture, equipment, and related items; identify and organize necessary work materials and equipment, which may include loading and unloading cleaning supplies and materials; and operating and maintaining powered equipment, tools, supplies, and materials needed.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
* A basic knowledge of the methods, materials, and equipment used in custodial work is preferred. Must be familiar with all cleaning solutions and chemicals and the proper usage for cleaning purposes and safety.
* Ability to read and write at a level appropriate for the duties of the position; follow verbal and written instructions to ensure safety; operate and care for custodial equipment and supplies applicable to the position.
* Use custodial systems such as those used to track work orders and two-way radios for communication; observe safety requirements and safe work practices and methods as required; perform work involving regular physical activity; and establish and maintain cooperative work relationships.

* The anticipated HIRING RATE is $3680. The salary range for this classification is: $3680 -$4951 per month.
* HOURS: Full Time; 40 hours per week; 4:00pm - 12:30am, Monday through Friday.
* REG: This is a Regular position with a one-year probationary period.

BASIC FUNCTION
Under the direction of the Director of Facilities, perform custodial duties required to maintain assigned school buildings areas in a clean and orderly condition.
1. Sweep, scrub, mop, wax, and vacuum assigned floors, hallways, and student activity areas and shampoo and/or spot clean carpets on a scheduled basis.
2. Dust, wash, wax and polish assigned furniture, woodwork, and metal work on a scheduled basis.
3. Wash and clean assigned windows, walls, drinking fountains, sinks, commodes, and trash receptacles on a scheduled basis.
4. Report all health and safety conditions that may cause injury to students, staff, and the general public (e.g. broken furniture, burned out lights, broken equipment).

6. Operate power cleaning equipment in a safe and efficient manner.

10. Complete required compliance program within the first sixty (30) days of employment.
