Overview:
Columbia University is seeking a temporary Heavy Cleaner to join our Support Staff - Union team. As a Heavy Cleaner, you will be responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and maintenance of assigned buildings.
Responsibilities:
* Move materials and furniture as required
* Report building malfunctions, including power failures, leaks, and equipment damage
* Operate motor-cleaning equipment to strip and wax floors, stairwells, and corridors
* Sweep and mop entrance lobbies, stairwells, and elevator landings
* Polish marble or brass
* Wash walls and blackboards
* Clean mirrors, glass partitions, banisters, and mailboxes
* Dust assigned areas
* Clean all bathrooms and kitchens
* Remove spots and shampoo carpets
* Sweep and wash exterior sidewalks, steps, and courtyards
* Dispose of trash and recycling as directed
* Clean compactor room
* Check and clean all drains and inspect, restock, and clean all areas of the building
Qualifications:
* High School Diploma or its equivalent
* Minimum one year of experience
Benefits:
