Job Duties:
Install, maintain, and trouble shoot electrical systems in compliance with the National Electric Code.
Provided teaching, coaching, and mentoring to apprentices learning the trade.
Travels to regionally based customers locations to perform complex industrial and commercial work in construction, and service scenarios.
Knowledge of primary installations and terminations.
Trouble shoot relay logic & PLC controlled equipment.
Maintain compliance with all OSHA, Hillard electric, and customer safety requirements and company policies.
Performs wire and cable pulls.
Install feeders and makes standard motor connections.
Participate in safety talk, audits, and related safety activities.
Immediately identify, correct, and/or report unsafe acts, conditions or incidents.
Work with Utility Providers.
Participate in CPR, First aid, and OHSA 10- hour training.
Job Qualifications:
Possesses an active Electrical Journeyman's license. (5 Years Min.)
Strong knowledge of the most recent National Electric Code.
Electrical trouble shooting skills - Motors, control systems, lighting, High and low voltage.

The Journeyman Electrician provides for all electrical work to be accomplished in-house by the facilities staff. This position performs day-to-day maintenance, project work, special events, and unscheduled maintenance as directed by the Associate Director Facilities. The position reviews plans and drawings for projects, validates requirements for daily work, projects, and assesses, troubleshoots equipment for the repair of all electrical equipment ranging from light fixtures through motors and generators.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
* Plan, organize and layout all components of electrical work through the use of blue prints, specifications, interaction with consultants, contractors, architects, etc.
* Coordinate own and others work between maintenance, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and carpentry departments, administration, and outside vendors.
* Perform electrical work in medium voltage transmission and distribution systems and relays.
* Perform repair of electric motors, generators and controllers ranging from fractional horsepower to 500 horsepower.
* Repair, renovate and install electrical systems, components, fixtures, or electrical equipment in accordance with applicable NEC procedures and guidelines, manufacturer's specifications and department guidance.
* Make repairs to operations, maintenance and electronic equipment as necessary.
* Maintain files and documentation on building electrical systems as required.
* Complete all work orders assigned and provide appropriate documentation in relation to completion of work.
* Accomplish all work in accordance with MIOSHA/OSHA guidance, applicable City, County and State building codes and regulations.
* Repair electrical systems for hydraulic equipment, injections molding, welding equipment, HVAC systems, etc.
* Repair, maintain, and calibrate electrically operated controls and devices, such as communication devices, signaling devices, fire warning and security systems, including building access, ADA operators, electronic strikes, etc.
* Travel throughout all GRCC campuses and Satellite Learning Centers using personal and/or company vehicles.
* Regular attendance during normal scheduled hours is required. Being present is essential for serving customers and performing the essential functions of this position.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Educational Credentials
* High school degree or GED diploma required
* Journeyman electrical license required
* Advancement towards masters license within two years
Work Experience
* Journeyman electrician with two (2) years' experience preferred
* Experience in an academic setting preferred
* Five (5) years of experience as a master electrician preferred
Skills
* Must be able to use all electrical measuring equipment/meters
* Must be able to troubleshoot all types of electrical problems
* Must be able to read and decipher blueprints
* Must possess basic computer skills
* Must have a valid Michigan driver license

Journeyman Electrician
Install safe, code compliant electrical systems on Excel Electric projects that adhere to the specifications set forth in project contract documents and drawings. Reports to the Project Manager.
