Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Journeyman
Pay: $41.36 - $42.65 per hour (Double time for Sunday shifts)
Schedule: Full-time | Rotating 12-hour shifts | Relocation assistance available
Your Impact
As an E&I Journeyman, you will be essential to ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our production and facilities equipment. Your technical expertise in electrical systems and instrumentation will directly support production uptime and safety standards at our manufacturing facility.
What You'll Be Doing
Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on production and facility equipment
Troubleshoot and repair low and high-voltage circuits
Diagnose and resolve equipment failures using schematics, blueprints, and testing tools
Replace motors, switches, meters, photo-eyes, and other electrical components
Analyze and correct issues in PLCs, HMIs, and VFDs
Calibrate instruments for flow, pressure, temperature, and other variables
Install and maintain control and measurement systems
Accurately document work performed in a computerized maintenance system
Start on 1st shift (6am-3pm, Mon-Fri, 45 hours/week), with a transition to rotating 12-hour shifts (6am-6pm and 6pm-6am, including weekends)
What You'll Bring
Valid 5-year industrial journeyman's card (50-414-2 Electrical & Instrumentation)
2-3 years of relevant industrial electrician or technician experience
Experience with control and measurement instrumentation in a manufacturing setting
Knowledge of PLC and HMI programming in closed-loop systems
Familiarity with advanced VS drive systems and web handling equipment
Strong troubleshooting, computer, and diagnostic skills
Ability to work independently and in a union team environment
Willingness to work a rotating 12-hour swing shift schedule, including weekends

What You Will Do
* Work with operations, engineering, contractors, vendors, and other maintenance resources to support a 24/7 paper manufacturing operation with Tissue Machines, de-ink plant and water treatment facilities.
* Respond to critical requests for support site-wide and in specific areas.
* Gain "Center of Excellence" knowledge on specific technologies in our facility and share that knowledge with others as needed.
* Perform troubleshooting on site using Ethernet and logic controls interface tools.
* Identify improvement ability for critical instrumentation

They are then able to bring back what they learn and apply it in their work environment.
* There are also night classes that are required throughout the 5 year program such as OSHA 30 hour, etc. The classes for night school are often paid for by the union, but the employee is not paid wages for any night classes. For Local 18, the night school classes are only paid for by the union if the student has 100% attendance.
* During the apprenticeship, there is also a work hour requirement for on-the-job training and experience. Apprentices usually do not have trouble meeting this requirement since they're typically working at Bassett throughout the full apprenticeship.

Responsibilities:
Participate in active project pre-planning and job preparation
Manage material per job to ensure that teams have the correct material and that material check-out and check-in procedures are being followed.
Lead and mentor a team of 2-3 apprentice electricians
Qualifications:
Master Electrician license/certification
Journeyman license required
4+ years of Licensed Electrician experience (required)
1+ year of Solar industry experience (preferred)
Drivers License required.
Have full range of mobility in the upper and lower body - Be able to work in various positions, including, but not limited to, stooping, standing, bending over, sitting, kneeling and squatting for extended periods of time.
