Kforce has a client in Linthicum Heights, MD that is seeking a Payroll Processor to own day-to-day payroll operations for a multi-state employee population (30+ states including CA and PA). This role will work with a third-party payroll provider (ADP/WorkforceNow/Paycom, etc.), handle time & attendance issues, support commissions/bonus payouts, maintain payroll data and accruals, and produce routine payroll reporting. Strong Excel fundamentals, excellent accuracy, and the ability to think about payroll processes end-to-end are the top priorities.
Key Responsibilities:
* Coordinate with our third-party payroll provider to ensure accurate, timely payroll runs (review submissions, approve, and validate outputs)
* Process payroll exceptions and adjustments: punch/time change requests, off-cycle checks, retroactive pay, bonus/commission inputs
* Support commission and bonus processing - gather inputs, follow many-step payout workflows, research and resolve discrepancies
* Maintain employee payroll records: status changes (part-time, full-time), new hires, terminations, pay rate changes, and holiday pay entries
* Update and reconcile accruals (vacation, sick, etc.) and ensure accurate balances
* Perform data entry and maintain payroll-related files in HRIS/payroll vendor portals
* Produce regular payroll reports and populate predefined templates; Do basic Excel formulas and formatting to present data
* Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies - trace what affected what and correct root causes
* Ensure confidentiality of payroll and employee information and follow internal controls
* Complete routine, repetitive tasks reliably and accurately; escalate complex issues to payroll manager* High School diploma/GED or equivalent; Associate's/Bachelor's in Accounting, Finance, HR, or related field is a plus
* 2+ years of payroll experience (can include experience supporting payroll with third-party vendors)
