POSITION SUMMARY
The Mental Health Professional is a member of the multi-disciplinary treatment team and provides clinically appropriate services under the clinical direction of the Associate Director, Mental Health Programs. The Mental Health Professional will provide mental health screenings and assessments, clinical watches, treatment groups and individual sessions, as well as other clinically related activities.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Provide clinical services, including screening, assessment, treatment planning and crisis intervention.
2. Performs individual and group therapeutic counseling.
3. Performs administrative consultations for specialized social services as determined by the specific needs of the Institution.
4. Interviews inmates to obtain information concerning medical history, mental health history, or other pertinent information.
5. Observes inmates to detect indications of abnormal behavior.
6. Reviews results of tests, treatment plans and treatment cases with the behavioral health team to evaluate client needs and implement treatment.
7. Coordinates psychiatry services, which includes but is not limited to tracking and triaging patients' requests or staff referrals for psychotropic meds; administrative duties for psychiatry visits; tracking psychiatry services provided including signed consents and obtaining refusals.
8. Plans and administers therapeutic treatment such as counseling, behavior modification and psychosocial education to assist inmates in managing their mental disorders and other interpersonal or environmental problems.
9. Discusses progress toward treatment goals with inmates and ensures that the treatment plan is completed in a timely manner, adhered to as the barometer for treatment and is reflected in the progress notes.
10. Consults with behavioral health team concerning treatment plan and amends plan as described
11. Assists in planning and implementing the goals and objectives of programs and projects. May direct special projects as requested.
12. Experience working effectively with a multi-disciplinary treatment team, providing clinical supervision, performing consultation and teaching others
13. Provides the necessary preparation of documentation, necessary records and reports.
14. Participates in interdisciplinary treatment team meetings.
15. Provides documentation in accordance with unit policies, procedures, and facility policies when recommended and/or indicated.
16. Participates in mandatory as well as elective educational activities as well as orientation of new staff, and inmate orientation.
17. Attends weekly staff meetings and follows all team/unit protocols.
18. Adheres to safety and security policies, and participates in disaster drills.
19. Follows security regulations and policies, with consideration of clinical factors.
20. Completes case management responsibilities as required.
21. Completes chart reviews as required.
22. Engages in internal audit preparation and review process as directed by the Associate Director, Mental Health Programs.
23. Appropriately recommends/offers input to multi-disciplinary team for transfers to alternate levels of care, and/or grade changes when requested.
24. Participates in all mental health watches and log entries as directed
25. Respects dignity and confidentiality of patients.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
LICENSING: Fully licensed, have temporary license or associate license in New Mexico a in Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
CERTIFICATION: Current CPR certification.
EDUCATION: Master's Degree in Psychology, Social Work, or Counseling
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: At least two (2) years prior clinical experience working with forensic clients; have familiarity with relevant research literature, clinical assessments, procedures and methods, have ability to assess treatment goals and write goal-directed, individualized treatment plans; have ability to monitor and document individual behavior patterns and modify treatment plans; and be familiar with diagnostic nomenclature outlined in the most recent Diagnostic and Statistical Manual.

Responsible for the overall direction and management of the division operations (technical performance, personnel, education, training and administrative functions) of assigned technical operations; coordination of activities with other areas of the organization and with internal and external customers to ensure that financial and quality standards are met. Work closely with Director, Core Laboratory Operations, appropriate Tricore/Hospital Administration and technical operation Management Dyads regarding decisions on matters relating to patient care, technical performance, quality and finances. Participate in the dyad with the Directors of Clinical and Anatomic Pathology for assigned departments.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Department management and staff oversight:
a. Responsible for the overall supervision of assigned department management staff.
b. Ensure that appropriate application, interview, and selection processes are established and followed in the division, including, but not limited to interviews with peers and supervisors/tech specialists. Personally interview final candidates for key positions and work with Human Capital Management and assigned management dyads in making final selections.
c. Oversee effective completion of quarterly performance evaluations and approve compensation process for assigned departments.
d. At least quarterly, communicate with direct reports regarding their performance and counsel them as needed. Let direct reports know when they are and are not meeting job expectations. Provide guidance to direct reports on how to improve performance.
e. Ensure supervisors are conducting staff coaching, recognition, counseling as needed. Oversee and conduct employee coaching, counseling, and disciplinary actions as needed or appropriate.
f. Manage dismissal actions utilizing Human Capital Management for advice and seeking approval from the appropriate leadership regarding the proposed action.
g. Ensure that appropriate staff recognition programs are in place.
h. Be available to assist staff with questions and problem solving.
i. Maintain appropriate channels of communication within the division.
j. Provide information to staff regarding career ladder opportunities, job expectation, relevant information concerning workload, workflow, process and procedure changes and general information regarding the department and the organization.
k. Listen effectively and with the purpose of understanding employee concerns, questions, ideas, and opinions. Actively solicit staff input and feedback.
l. Coordinate and conduct department/divisional meetings on a regular basis.

c. Oversee client training and educational programs/meetings.
d. Assist with problem resolution for external clients as needed.
e. Consults with physicians, clients and sponsors regarding appropriate testing, test results and interpretations.
3. Financial:
a. Coordinate preparation and justification of assigned department budgets. Review and submit proposed budget to Director, Core Laboratory Operations.
b. Review and justify monthly variances to financial budget.
c. Ensure cost accounting is completed for new tests and reviewed annually for all tests.
d. Approve submitted capital requests and vendor payments/invoices for assigned departments prior to submission for final approval.
e. Work with Director, Core Laboratory Operations to negotiate contracts that maximize TRL and TLSC benefits.
4. Quality Assurance (QA)/Compliance:
a. Participate in quality assurance programs to ensure that quality standards are met.
b. Demonstrate ability to consistently improve quality standards through implementation of appropriate action plans approved by the management dyad and Director, Core Laboratory Operations.
c. Evaluate the needs and expectations of the customers of the area annually and implement new quality programs designed to ensure that the quality of services meet or exceed customers expectations.
d. Prepare QA reports as appropriate.
e. Lead, facilitate and/or participate in Quality Management and other process improvement teams as appropriate. f. In conjunction with the management dyads, develop, revise, and implement department goals and objectives. Ensure that all goals and objectives are appropriately aligned with company strategic goals. Establishes priorities in consultation with management dyad and Director, Core Laboratory Operations.
g. Actively support and implement company and department procedures, policies, and strategies to support the corporate vision.
h. Assures regulatory and accreditation compliance by working with management dyad and Director, Core Laboratory Operations.
i. Ensure patient, employee, and organizational confidentiality.
5. Workflow/Efficiency
a. Oversee workflow and productivity for all assigned departments.
b. Develop, revise, and implement appropriate work systems within the department that are designed to meet the needs of the organization as well as the needs of internal and external customers. Identify opportunities for new or improved service to both internal and external customers and implement new or improved services as appropriate.
c. Responsible for ensuring that the department operates efficiently. Look for ways to get maximum benefit from all resources. Continually assess department staffing levels and needs including scheduling strategies and full time vs. part time ratios when employees leave, examine current staffing levels and needs and determine appropriate replacement needs. Continually assess department resources and needs. Initiate requests for additional resources as appropriate, including cost justifications. Develop and monitor standards for measuring cost effectiveness.
d. Provide backup or coordinate fill in for department staff during times of unusually high workload or other special circumstances.
6. Customer Service and Communication:
a. Maintain effective communication and coordination with other departments within the organization.
b. Serve as a liaison to the external communication process to keep customers informed of testing and service changes. Assures that all relevant customer needs are met. Coordinate the scheduling of tests with the management dyad to meet customer expectations.
7. Technical
a. Maintain an up-to-date understanding of new requirements and technology through continuing education.
b. Coordinate with the Director, Core Laboratory Operations, Medical/Scientific Directors and department leadership groups to ensure that test menus and services are consistent with the sound patient care, client expectations and financial expectations.
c. Ensure quality control is performed, documented and acceptable prior to patient testing.
d. Ensure technical performance of the laboratory is acceptable including but not limited to calibrations, validations, quality control establishment, instrument maintenance and temperature control.
e. Ensure proficiency testing is performed, evaluated and corrective actions taken as appropriate in a timely manner.

MINIMUM EDUCATION
Bachelor s Degree in Medical Technology, Medical Laboratory Sciences, Clinical Laboratory Sciences, Biology, Chemistry, or relevant degree.

Six years clinical laboratory or specialty experience with at least one year of management/supervisory experience.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
ASCP certification or equivalent.
Maintain valid driver s license and insurable by TriCore s automobile insurance company.

Responsibilities
The Student will be able to perform the following tasks as it pertains to each surgical procedure:
Set up a sterile field with necessary supplies for procedure based on preference card and according to the Rules of Asepsis.
Participate in Universal Protocol and Time Out
Pass instruments and other appropriate items to surgeon and assistant during procedure.
Maintain sterile technique during procedure.
Perform with accuracy the procedure for sponge, sharps and instrument counts.
Demonstrate the ability to anticipate the surgeon's needs.
Observe all safety protocols and comply with infection control, sterilization standards, and hospital policies.
Aid in monitoring and restocking surgical supplies, instruments, and equipment.
Participate in training sessions, skills development, and mentorship opportunities provided by senior staff.
Donning OR attire and personal protective equipment (PPE)
Assist Team members with gowning and gloving
Measures and passes medications, hemostatic agents and irrigation solutions utilize during the surgical procedure The student should exhibit the following behaviors:a.Demonstrate professional discretion with patient information, providing privacy and confidentiality.b.Demonstrate the ability to communicate and work as a team member in the operating room Perform other duties as assigned.

Part-time Description
The ER TECH I is a part of the emergency department caregiver team, responsible for performing continued assessment, evaluation, and delivery of patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. When assigned to the Monitor Tech role, they are responsible for providing clerical support for the Emergency Department, including entering orders and patient information into the Meditech system, cardiac rhythm monitoring, and limited patient care duties.
The ER TECH I notifies nursing staff of rhythm status and changes, patient orders, and EMS radio reports. They also attend the desk, manage the phone system and patient board, and maintain departmental forms and supplies. The ER TECH I facilitates patient transfers and admissions in coordination with the house supervisor.
The ER TECH I provides safe, prudent patient care in compliance with GRMC standards of nursing care, the New Mexico Board of Nurse Practice Act, and the Joint Commission for Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO). They must have the adaptability to work in a fast-paced and potentially stressful environment.
Additionally, the Tech may be floated to other hospital areas as a resource, as directed by hospital leadership or the House Supervisor. When floated, they are expected to follow the guidance of the Charge Nurse or RN in the assigned department and maintain the same high standards of care and safety.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Assists with patient care as needed
Obtains and charts patient vital signs
Prepares patients for various procedures as directed by the RN.
Collects specimens for lab assessment, urine, stool and blood draws.
Handles laboratory specimens such as blood, urine and other bodily fluids
Places id and allergy bands, using double identifiers for patient safety
Assists in the application and removal of patient restraints, and provides documentation according to policy and procedure
Assists with patient ambulation and transfer
Completes all patient care documentation in a timely manner

Escorts patients and visitors in and out of the hospital
Assists nurses and providers with procedures
Provides information and emotional support to patients and family
Communicates information to RNs and other ER team members as necessary to include patient issues, changes in condition, and abnormal vital signs in a timely manner.
Prepares patient care areas; cleans and stocks patient rooms
Assists to maintain clean and quiet environment for patients and fellow colleagues.
May be required to perform Basic Emergency Medical Care or first aid as part of his/her job
Attends 75% of departmental meeting
Transfers orders from printer to charts in a timely manner. Checks admission for new orders.
Obtains ER outpatient identification information and prepares forms required for ER record and charges.
Prepares patient chart for transport, making copies and obtaining all necessary documentation.
Enters physician's orders, and required patient data, including discharge diagnosis, times and charges into Meditech system, as well as other required departmental requisitions.
Obtains diagnostic results and transfers them to patient record.
Closes ER patient care record and ensures completion by checking for signatures of both physicians and nurses.
Assures completion of ED Logbook and status of patient disposition.
Enters and completes data for ER Logbook as required by The Joint Commission (legible and documented in black or blue ink). Utilizes ER patient log for shift and ER Logbook for report indicating location of charts which have not been completed by providers.
Participates in hospital in-service education and cross-training.
Performs quality control test on glucose monitor daily.
Prepares and or obtains any forms/supplies necessary for ongoing departmental operations. Ensures that printers are loaded with paper and cartridges.
Attends the desk, and manages ER phone system, including incoming calls, nurse triage line & transfer, and locating on-call staff via beepers and or phone. Answers telephone and radio in a timely, pleasant manner.
Reports gunshot and dog bites reports per protocol.
Coordinates pediatric lab draws with Lab and RN.
Manages ER patient board, documenting physician orders to alert nursing staff.
Assist in additional clinical areas of the hospital as needed.
All other duties assigned within scope and practice.

DUCATION & TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
High School Diploma or GED
Must possess one of the following qualifications: a New Mexico CNA certification, completion of Level I and II courses from an accredited nursing college, or two years of experience as a Medical Assistant.
BLS (AHA) required upon date of hire
PEARS within 3 months from hire date
GRMC approved EKG course within 3 months of hire and annually
WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
1 year experience in a Medical Field preferred
