Summary Description
Under general supervision, performs quantitative and qualitative laboratory test on patient specimens according to standard laboratory formulas and procedures. Analyzes test results and prepares samples for testing. Calculates test findings and maintains records. Prepares and determines validity of solutions, reagents, media stains and various materials in the testing process.
Processes and tests all types of laboratory specimens; reviews and reports lab results; performs operational duties, maintenance and advanced troubleshooting of laboratory instrumentation and equipment; acts as resource to other laboratory personnel.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree from an approved college or university and/or graduate of an accredited school of medical technology, or equivalent such as military training as defined by 42 CFR 493.1489, or have qualified at the Medical Technologist level by achieving a satisfactory grade on a HHS examination prior to 2/28/92 42 CFR 493.1491. The above meets required criteria as defined by CLIA regulations for High Complexity testing (42 CFR 493.1489 and 42 CFR 493.1491).
Prefer 6 months to 1 year medical laboratory technologist, clinical laboratory scientist experience in acute care facility.
Required: Registered or registry eligible in accordance with an approved certifying agency (ASCP, NCA, AMT or CSMLS within 12 months of hire). Equivalency evaluation by ECE ,NACES or AICE for non-US trained personnel must be completed within 30 days of hire. Licensure, as required by State.
Skills Required
1. Analytical ability to interpret and analyze test results.
2. Interpersonal skills in order to work effectively with all areas of physician office.
3. Manual dexterity and visual acuity to operate various types of laboratory equipment.

Position Summary:Note: This is a temporary full-time position scheduledthrough the Winter 2026 semester only (Ends on May 7, 2026), to provide leave coverage. The Instructional Laboratory Assistant - Welding and Fabrication is a year-round, classified faculty position responsible for supporting faculty and students in achieving academic success within the Welding and Fabrication program. Working a 40-hour week, the lab assistant will provide hands-on guidance in lab activities, demonstrations, and technical support while maintaining lab safety and ensuring the proper operation of equipment and resources. Additionally, this role assistswith student recruitment and retention efforts, fostering an environment that promotes learning, skill development, and career readiness.Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:Instructional and Student Support:• Demonstrate and guide students through welding and cutting processes, including SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, FCAW, MCAW, SAW, PAC, CAC, OFW, OFC, soldering, and brazing.• Observe, coach, and assist students with homework, lab assignments, and class projects to ensure proper technique and understanding of concepts.• Provide feedback and technical support to help students achieve academic success and meet course objectives.• Relay course objectives and instructor expectations to students as needed, ensuring clarity and alignment with the curriculum.• Oversee student safety within the lab environment. Minimum Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:• Associate degree in Welding Technology or a related field.• AWS Certified Welder (CW) certification.• Five years of documented full-time experience in the welding/fabrication industry.• Proficiency in welding processes, including SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, FCAW, MCAW, SAW, PAC, CAC, OFW, and brazing in ferrous and non-ferrous materials.• Knowledge of blueprint reading, fabrication techniques, and operation of heavy equipment (press brake, saws, shears, tubing bender, drill press, cold saw, etc.).• Proficiency with standard and metric measuring devices.• Basic computer skills in MS Excel and Word, and the ability to scan/print.• Professional email communication skills and a valid driver's license.• Availability to work days, nights, and weekends, with limited travel as needed.

The Instructional Laboratory Assistant for the Electric Vehicle (EV), Internal Combustion Engine (ICE), and Auto Body Programs plays a critical role in supporting instruction and hands-on learning across multiple automotive technologies.This position works closely with faculty to facilitate classroom and laboratory instruction, provide technical and safety support, and maintain instructional equipment and facilities.The Instructional Laboratory Assistant also provides direct support services that contribute to student recruitment, retention, academic success, and professional development, ensuring an inclusive and supportive learning environment for students pursuing careers in EV, ICE, and auto body fields.Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
Instructional Support: Collaborate with instructors to support the delivery of lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on laboratory activities related to electric vehicles, internal combustion engine systems, and auto body repair and refinishing.
Technical Assistance: Provide technical guidance to students during lab sessions, including troubleshooting and diagnostics of EV systems, ICE components, drivetrains, electrical/electronic systems, and auto body structures, materials, and refinishing processes.
Equipment & Facility Maintenance: Assist in maintaining, organizing, and preparing EV, ICE, and auto body tools, vehicles, equipment, and instructional resources to ensure safe, effective, and accessible learning environments.
Safety Compliance: Enforce safety protocols and procedures across EV, ICE, and auto body laboratories, including proper use of tools, high-voltage safety practices, hazardous materials handling, and shop equipment. Maintain familiarity with OSHA and MSDS requirements.
Student Support: Provide guidance to students in understanding course materials, completing assignments, and developing technical competencies required for careers in EV, ICE, and auto body industries.
Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate records related to student attendance, progress, and performance in alignment with program and institutional requirements. Assist with reporting to support program assessment and effectiveness.
Curriculum & Lab Development: Collaborate with faculty to develop, update, and refine curriculum materials, laboratory exercises, and assessments that reflect current EV, ICE, and auto body technologies and industry standards.
Continuous Professional Learning: Stay current with emerging automotive technologies, including electric propulsion systems, advanced diagnostics, ADAS, collision repair innovations, and evolving industry best practices.
Lab Preparation & Breakdown: Prepare laboratories at the beginning of class sessions and ensure proper breakdown, cleanup, and secure storage of equipment at the conclusion of each session.
Part-Time Staff Support: Assist in training, scheduling, and task coordination of part-time laboratory assistants under the direction of the Department Chair.
Inventory Management: Support procurement and inventory tracking of classroom, laboratory, and maintenance supplies using scan tools and related inventory software.
Recruitment & Retention Initiatives: Assist with student recruitment efforts, including outreach to high schools and community events. Support promotional events, competitions, and demonstrations to strengthen enrollment and retention.
