Implemented 8/16 JOB TITLE: Medical Lab Technologist RESPONSIBLE TO: Director of Nursing Duties and Responsibilities: Performs venipuncture using appropriate technique following provider orders. Ensures all laboratory specimens are transported to the laboratory for processing. Conducts chemical analysis of body fluids, including blood and urine, to determine presence of normal and abnormal components. Performs analysis of laboratory findings to check the accuracy of the results. Enters data from analysis of medical tests and clinical results into computer system/patient records for storage and provider review. Operates, calibrates, and maintains equipment used in laboratory testing. Maintains and monitors quality assurance programs and activities to ensure the accuracy of laboratory results. Sets up, cleans, and maintains laboratory equipment. Provides technical information about test results to providers and patients. Supervises, trains, and directs other medical assistants engaged in laboratory testing. Responsible for biohazardous waste storage in conjunction with OSHA compliance. Performs allergy injections, immunizations, and any other injections as scheduled on nurse visit schedule. Performs pulmonary function tests, audiograms/tympanograms, ABIs, UBTs, and EKGs as ordered and scheduled on nurse visit schedule. Functions as treatment nurse if needed. Assists with emergency situations and treatment as indicated. Performs Medical Assistant/Nursing duties as needed. Performs any other tasks as deemed necessary by supervisor.

The Clinical Laboratory Assistant is required to perform the following laboratory services: Performs blood collection using the appropriate collection method and techniques. Performs and reports accurate laboratory patient and quality control testing. Verifies proper patient identification and maintains patient confidentiality. Reports and documents critical laboratory values according to policy.?? Perform drug screen and breath alcohol collections as needed. Maintains proper inventories and correctly uses supplies and reagents. Performs laboratory equipment trouble-shooting and maintenance. Monitors equipment performance and makes repairs or initiates service requests. Investigates, documents, and resolves routine problems or complaints. Maintains competency. Performs other related duties as assigned by the section supervisor or department director. Requirements High school diploma with minimum of three years laboratory experience or Associate's degree or Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Microbiology or related field. Experience in laboratory or medical office setting preferred. We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Cytotechnologist to join a dynamic pathology team in Charlottesville, VA. In this role, you will be responsible for the microscopic screening and evaluation of cytologic specimens to detect cancer and other pathological conditions. This position is ideal for individuals who are passionate about precision and want to make a meaningful impact in patient care. Key Responsibilities: Perform thorough and accurate microscopic evaluation of gynecologic Pap tests using established cytomorphologic criteria. Conduct comprehensive analysis of non-gynecologic, fine needle aspiration, and consult cellular samples, correlating findings with clinical data. Accurately record specimen and result data for all cases screened in the Beaker computer system. Provide technical support for the fine needle aspiration (FNA) service. Demonstrate compliance with laboratory quality assurance, safety, and regulatory standards. Participate in the preparation, staining, and cover slipping of cytological specimens. Contribute to general area-specific clinical support tasks as assigned. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of cytological diagnostic methods and participate in continual improvement initiatives. Perform additional duties as required to support overall laboratory operations. Minimum Requirements: Education: Bachelor's of Science Degree required.
