Labcorp is seeking a Lab Assistant to join our team in Dublin, OH. This role works in a high volume, production based environment performing a vital component of clinical lab science.
Pay Range: $17.75 - $18.92 per hour

Work Schedule: 3rd shift - Tuesday - Saturday 4am to 12:30pm with overtime as required

Job Responsibilities
Receive and sort clinical lab specimens
Prepare specimens for testing and analysis
Scan and/or data entry of specimen and patient information
Ensure all lab equipment is working properly and perform minor instrumentation maintenance
Troubleshoot any specimen related issues
Replenish test bench supplies as needed
Maintain a clean and safe work environment
Complete record logs and other administrative duties as requested
Follow all Standard Operating Procedures to ensure safety and quality standards

Previous medical/lab or production experience is preferred
Comfortability with handling biological specimens

Sunday - Thursday Schedule
* Aseptically prepare and dispense various types of sterile media: liquid (broths) and solid (agars) culture media into designated containers (vessels), ensuring precise volumes in accordance with established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

About the Role
The Laboratory Assistant plays an essential role in the fertility journey by providing critical support in both the andrology and endocrinology laboratories. Key Responsibilities
Assist with laboratory operations, audits, compliance checks, and reporting, including sample collection and handling.
Assist with patient check-in and check-out processes.
Manage and maintain cryogenic storage equipment, including handling and inventorying cryopreserved specimens (sperm, oocytes, embryos).
Coordinate transportation of cryopreserved specimens with third-party vendors while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
Maintain accurate patient records in the electronic medical record (EMR) system and process medical record requests.
Act as a primary point of contact between the laboratory, physicians, and nursing teams for lab-related coordination.
Organize and manage laboratory paperwork, supply inventory, and administrative documentation as well as data submission.
Assist with additional projects and administrative duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
Education: Highschool degree required. Bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry, or a related science field is preferred.
Experience: 6+ months of laboratory experience outside of coursework is a plus.

Evaluation and Gross Dissection of Small Specimens: Accurately complete the gross evaluation of small uncomplicated surgical specimens. This necessitates proper description/dictation, identification, and cassetting of the specimen.

Assistance in Gross Room Frozen Section Preparation : Assist Pathologist in the evaluation and selection of tissue at time of frozen section. Perform all functions of the slide preparation including tissue freezing, cutting, staining, and cover slipping. Preparation of the staining alcohol/air-dried touch preps. Process special study tissue i.e., ER/PR, Lymphoma, Chromosome analysis when needed. Must be able to keep simultaneous frozen section specimens on different patients and/or same patient with multiple sites separated, properly identified, labeled, and organized.
