Marnee Zazueta Department/Office: Linework Pay Rate: $16.00 per hour, 0-19.5 hours per week depending on department need, availability of funds and student eligibility. This position will gain marketable work experience by working with Yavapai College staff, Faculty and affiliates in a group effort to support the mission, goals and values of Yavapai College. The Linework Lab Assistant must have an aptitude for mechanical and electrical environments, be able to maintain tools and equipment in the lab/classroom, be able to follow explicit instructions, and should enjoy working outdoors. This position will be operating in the same environment as scheduled classes take them. These will be indoors and outdoors with all weather types. Physical requirements can be demanding, but no more than what any student experiences as part of the curriculum. Applicants also need good communication skills and working knowledge of the linework program to interact with students, staff and the public. Students must be working toward completing the linework program. Finally, they should be dependable, able to take direction and able to work independently or as part of a team. Job duties will include but are not limited to assisting with maintaining a clean lab space for the CDT program All hiring documents must be completed prior to first work shift, including acceptable documentation for the I-9 Form. This is a Federal Work Study (FWS) eligible only position. Students must be FWS eligible as determined by the FAFSA, this means applicants must: * Have current aid year FAFSA verified and on file at Yavapai College * Be enrolled in at least 6 credits, of which one class required for program of study * Be in good financial aid standing at Yavapai College * Have unmet need as determined by the FAFSA * Be receiving their financial aid from Yavapai College * Clean and organize linework storage area * Maintain outdoor seating area adjacent to linework storage * Walk lab area for tools, equipment, and debris * Identify problem areas and solutions * Report problems to faculty and/or staff * Operates tractor for various tasks in the field * Organize training materials in the classroom * Other duties as assigned The start date, to occur no sooner than July 1st of the current aid year, of this position will be determined by the hiring supervisor after an applicant is hired. Pay structure based on current NREMT/AZ Certifcation: $25/hour - EMT Basic Level $30/hour - Paramedic Level Job duties include: * Reinforces clinical skills in patient care, laboratory, and/or simulation education settings. * Ensures similar quality experiences in all clinical settings and works closely with the appropriate coordinator of clinical education. * Maintains effective and frequent communication with professors by attending course meetings as scheduled. * Acts as resource person for students in emergency service laboratory classrooms. * Provides and/or prepare locations for students to perform emergency service practical skill drill exercises. * Assists students to obtain proficiency in performing emergency service practical skill drill exercises. * Evaluates student performance of emergency service practical skill exercises via on-campus validations and simulations. * Ensures that equipment, materials, and other resources, such as instructional aids are available for classes * Takes a lead role in upkeep and order of daily lab use * Plans for equipment repairs when machines break down * The EMS PT Tech will formulate scenarios, in conjunction with the lead instructor, that mirror real world patient care and incorporate psychomotor skills into said scenarios. * The EMS PT Tech will assist in supervision of basic competency skills checkoffs in compliance with national accreditation standards. * Attend a yearly in-service to maintain training standards and compliance with Department procedures and policies. This is a temporary part-time position working 0 - 19 per week as scheduled for days, nights and weekends. * Current National Registry and Arizona EMT or Paramedic certification (these certifications must be provided, as requested, to meet state and national accreditation requirements). * Current Arizona driver license. * Knowledge of pre-hospital emergency medical services or hospital emergency department experience with 2-years minimal working field experience. * Knowledgeable about current national registry standards of care and protocols * Demonstrated reliability and punctuality. * Good communication and organizational skills. * Good customer relations and skills. * Exhibit patience and positive attitude in an academic learning environment. * Ability to perform essential functions of an EMT or Paramedic per National Registry. * Ability to work independently and be part of an effective team. * Ability to maintain confidentiality and follow FERPA requirements. * Ability to troubleshoot simulation and skills problems (after proper training is received). * Work experience in a community college/higher education work environment To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. This position will gain marketable work experience by working with Yavapai College staff, Faculty and affiliates in a group effort to support the mission, goals and values of Yavapai College. The Agriculture Field Lab Tech must have a good knowledge of plants and fish, be able to effectively care for the greenhouse area, and other areas of the campus including the equine arena. They should like working outdoors and be physically fit. They need communication skills in order to interact with students, staff and the public. The work schedule will need to be flexible to accomplish the jobs and coordinate with faculty and staff. The start date, to occur no sooner than July 1st of the current aid year, of this position will be determined by the hiring supervisor after an applicant is hired. This position has a standard end of assignment date of June 30th of the current aid year. Assignment may end sooner or be extended depending FWS eligibility, availability and/or department need.
