**Pay Range: $18 - $21/hr.

The schedule for this position will be Monday- Friday and alternating Saturday, 7:30am - 4:00pm

Job Duties/Responsibilities:
Prepare laboratory specimens for various analysis and testing

Provide support to various areas of the laboratory

What You Will Do: The IVF Lab Assistant works collaboratively with the laboratory team. Your primary responsibilities will include maintaining accurate records, ensuring quality control and safety protocols compliance, preparing and handling laboratory equipment and supplies, and performing basic laboratory procedures. The Lab Assistant reports directly to the IVF Lab Supervisor.
Assemble, organize, and file patient charts, freeze cards, FDA paperwork, and consent forms; conduct quality assurance/control of patient charts according to CAP guidelines.
Monitor lab emails, phones, and EMR, to answer questions, address requests, direct to appropriate resource, and follow-up through completion.

Maintain all active ART patients in the IVF portal, verify accuracy of patient data, demographics, procedures, etc.
Coordinate daily ART procedures (egg retrievals, embryo transfers, male infertility procedures, egg warms, rebiopsy, non-invasive CCS, and EEB banking warm for culture); ensure patients and IVF staff are informed.
Assign incubator location for IVF Lab patients, enter patient information in Electronic Witnessing system, and affix labels on charts, incubators, media setup, and patient wristband.
Scan completed IVF/FET lab forms into patient EMR for Doctor/Nurse reference and ensure IVF/FET cycles are sent to business office and genetics.
Collect and input on-going SART data, audit charts for required information, transfer SART data from EMR into current database, and coordinate SART reporting to meet CDC requirements.
Interpret ART notes to enter and place orders in IVF Laboratory information system (LIS) and ensure Genetics' CCS results are recorded in LIS.
Assist cryopreservation specialist with embryo scheduling, physical cyro-inventory, and embryo shipment documentation.
Maintain/update Cryoinventory database, Transfer database, and Harvest database; assist with data manipulation and presentation as needed.
Obtain/maintain Mayo Clinic's “Shipping and Receiving Hazardous Materials” certification.
Serve as a witness to the Embryologist during CCS processing, vitrification, and warming.
Review disposition and dispose of embryo(s)/oocytes and maintain accurate records.
Understand/assess potential domestic violence and child abuse and know reporting responsibilities; will report concerns to IVF Laboratory Supervisor or Medical Director.

How you will contribute as a vital part of our team:
The Laboratory Technician will contribute to a world class laboratory by performing various laboratory duties under the direction of scientific staff which may include:
Performing sample extraction, workup and pipetting.
Adhere to all laboratory safety practices and follow applicable GLP regulations and government guidelines to conduct studies.
Document all work performed following GDP principles.
Communicate clearly with laboratory staff and scientists.
Rely on SOPs and/or methods to perform the functions of the job.
Prepare routine solutions; upkeep with laboratory cleanliness, organize all lab supplies to be easily accessible for all and provide laboratory maintenance.
Maintain and calibrate the laboratory instruments as assigned.

Position & Schedule
Full-Time, 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday 8:30AM - 5:00PM or 9:00AM - 5:30PM with a 30-minute lunch break.
Qualifications
Our ideal candidate will be authorized to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship; have a BS in Biology preferred or related science field or experience working in a scientific laboratory setting; and an ability to work both independently and within a team. Other items include:
Has knowledge of the use, maintenance, and/or calibration of most GLP equipment.
Knowledge of laboratory operations.
Must be able to work in a flexible environment, perform a variety of tasks and prioritize work.
Ability to work under minimum supervision.
Ability to implement scientific procedures and processes involved with residue, environmental fate and metabolism studies.
Exhibit excellent oral and strong written communication skills.
Self-sufficient in planning and executing daily responsibilities and the ability to tend to experimental details and attention to detail.
Good computer skills and being adept with standard software (e.g. Windows, Excel, Word).
Must be able to read, understand, and follow SOPs, policies and regulations, and provide general laboratory support.
Required to frequently stand, walk, and sit. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
