This role involves preparing patients and equipment, monitoring hemodynamic data, assisting physicians during procedures, and ensuring patient safety throughout the process. The technologist operates specialized imaging equipment, maintains sterile technique, and collaborates with the healthcare team to provide high-quality patient care. This position requires technical expertise in cardiovascular procedures, critical thinking skills, and the ability to work efficiently in high-pressure situations. Essential Work Functions: Prepare and position patients for cardiac catheterization, angioplasty, stent placement, electrophysiology studies, and other interventional procedures Assist physicians during procedures by passing catheters, wires, balloons, and stents, and operating fluoroscopy and hemodynamic monitoring equipment Operate and maintain imaging equipment, contrast injectors, and hemodynamic monitoring systems, ensuring proper functionality Scrub in and assist with sterile field setup, ensuring adherence to infection control and procedural protocols Perform sheath removal and hemostasis using manual compression or closure devices as directed Maintain accurate documentation, including patient records, imaging data, and equipment logs Assist with inventory management, stocking supplies, and ensuring proper storage of sterile instruments and medications Adhere to radiation safety protocols, ensuring proper use of lead aprons, shields, and dosimeters Ensure compliance with hospital policies, safety guidelines, and regulatory requirements Adhere to hospital safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standards Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of practice Required Essential Skills: Critical thinking, service excellence, and good interpersonal communication skills The ability to read, write, and communicate in the English language Ability to read/comprehend written instructions, follow verbal instructions, and proficiency in PC skills Physical Abilities - Must be able to remain in a stationary position, move about, move equipment (50-100lbs), push, pull, and bend Interpersonal Skills - Must be able to work effectively with a variety of personnel (professional and ancillary) to present a positive attitude and professionalism Technical/Motor Skills - Must have the ability to grasp, perform fine manipulation, push/pull, and move about when assisting with procedures and/or using department equipment Mental Requirements - Must be able to cope with frequent contact with the general public and customers while meeting deadlines under pressure. About the Role We're looking for a dedicated Clinical Lab Scientist to join our team and help us continue delivering the level of care our patients and families deserve. In this role, you'll be a vital part of our support team, ensuring excellent service, collaboration, and patient outcomes in a fast-paced healthcare environment. Under the supervision of the department Supervisor, the Clinical Lab Scientist will assume responsibility for performance of routine, standardized biological and/or bio chemical test procedures on blood, urine, tissue, body fluids and other specimen sources that assists clinicians in the diagnosis and clinical management of patients. You will demonstrate individual judgment with strong theoretical and practical knowledge of instrumentation and the principles of test procedures. You will also assume responsibility for actively contributing to the laboratory's productivity and cost effectiveness, including but not limited to employee orientation and implementation of new tests, writing procedures and helping with special projects. As a Clinical Lab Scientist you will participate in the laboratory quality assurance and compliance program. You will also assume charge as needed. What You'll Do * Demonstrates technical expertise and competence for all assigned tasks. Performs testing according to SOP. * Maintains extensive knowledge of instrument and equipment, including routine operation, proper working order, preventive maintenance and troubleshooting. * Performs, evaluates and documents required quality control procedures; documents remedial action or acceptance of out of control results. Performs quality assurance activities as directed by supervisor. * Uses good analytical judgment and problem solving skills to evaluate test results. Accurately reports test results. Notifies supervisor of problems and follows up as directed. * Determines acceptability of specimens maintains positive identification and resolves and documents any discrepancies. * Demonstrates a working knowledge of laboratory information system, including basic routines and other menus. Major Duties & Responsibilities: * Maintains a list of approved adjunct clinical faculty and preceptors by clinical specialty. * Collaborates with the Clinical Coordinator to plan for and schedule student clinical and individual preceptor rotations for all nursing degree and certificate programs. * Attends required meetings within the department and college. * Attends professional meetings within the community. * Assists with orientations for students at the beginning of each experience. * Ensures orientation materials are completed by students each semester in compliance with contracted agencies, with the Clinical Coordinator. * Ensuring student and faculty compliance with all clinical agency, college, and health requirements. * Submits necessary data/forms for students to obtain electronic health record access (EHR) for each clinical site to the Clinical Coordinator. * Works with faculty to ensure their area of expertise is being applied effectively. * Prepares clinical clearance permission (attestation) letters for students. * Distributes via Brightspace to clinical faculty and preceptors the student and agency evaluation forms and clinical teaching tools. * Helps to maintain all files related to clinical assignments. * Schedules orientation sessions and meetings with and serves as a resource and support to clinical adjunct faculty. * Ensures clinical documentation is completed by students. * Supervises completion of clinical evaluations on a weekly basis. * Assists in managing student clinical placement issues. * Attends meetings on campus biannually with clinical adjunct faculty to provide updates related to the nursing program(s) and student clinical and precepted learning experiences. * Troubleshoots faculty and student issues with Electronic Health Record (EHR) documentation. * Sets up the EHR tutor documentation courses for all students to ensure continuity among clinical groups. * Attends training sessions on simulation manakins. * Assists lab faculty with troubleshooting simulation issues. * Coordinates with lab faculty to complete lab and simulation set ups. * Understanding of and commitment to the mission of the College. Education and Experience: * Master's degree in nursing. DNS, DNP, EdD., PhD. preferred. * Experience as a nursing faculty member in pre-licensure programs. * Current unencumbered NYS RN license.
