Essential Functions:
As a phlebotomist you will be responsible for obtaining quality blood samples using a variety of phlebotomy methods (venous and capillary) using standard safety equipment from all age groups with strict adherence to regulatory requirements and collection procedures. You may be required to provide rapid response to medical emergencies such as traumas and codes. Additional responsibilities include:
1. Accurate patient identification, quality specimen labeling, handling, and transportation.
2. Working with a variety of computer programs/systems.
3. Utilizing excellent customer relations and communication skills in performing phlebotomy
4. Answering the phone and interacting with patients, nurses, providers, and other health care professionals to ensure high customer satisfaction.
5. Demonstrating a positive and professional demeanor.
6. Working independently as well as within a team.

Budget Title: Instructional Support Assistant (SL-1)

The Manzano Lab, located at Binghamton University, is seeking a Lab Assistant to participate in conducting behavioral experiments probing circuit development in mice brains. Research will use mice to model neuronal development. These experiments will entail the creation, validation, and running of behavioral experiments on pre-adolescent, adolescent, and adult animals. The Lab Assistant will also have the opportunity to use novel imaging techniques to probe changes in neuronal processing as mice grow from adolescents into adults. Additionally, Lab Assistants will have the opportunity to get involved in the data analysis of behavioral and calcium imaging data. This would involve data processing and computational analysis, in Python or Matlab. Research will use mice to model neuronal development. For more information visit the Manzano Lab Website. This position has the possibility to be extended, based on available funding.
Key Responsibilities
* Performing in vivo calcium imaging experiments aimed at understanding how neural circuits generate complex behaviors in pre-adolescent, adolescent, and adult mice
* Performing all aspects of experiment, including surgeries, behavioral assays, and histology
* Maintaining the animal colony
* Processing calcium imaging data to extract calcium traces via software packages
* Analyzing and interpreting data - applying systems neuroscience approaches to examine high-dimensional neural data. Approaches used include neural network-based approaches, Bayesian inference, and more
* Assisting with the oversight of day-to-day functions of the lab and shared lab spaces dedicated to running research studies
* Assisting in lab management, organization, equipment maintenance, and maintaining a safe work environment

* 3+ years of related Technician experience. Experience should include:

JOB SUMMARY:
Lab Support Technician I is an entry level lab position. The mission of Dairy One's Lab Support Team is to provide clean, dry, serviceable milk sampling vials to our field technicians 6 days per week. If you are the type of person that likes to meet or beat target goal quantities and times, then these fast-paced, high-volume throughput, iterative tasks may be for you. Technicians may be tasked with operating high throughput dish washers, preparing vials with a liquid milk preservative, closing the vial caps and boxing the finished products. Focus will be on achieving production and turnaround time standards in a safe manner. Work will be performed under supervision. Examples of duties performed include washing milk sample vials, pipetting vials, and preparing them for reuse and mixing simple chemical solutions.
This position works 2:30pm to 11:00pm Monday to Friday.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is performed in a laboratory where there is exposure to some chemicals and occasional exposure to noise. The use of protective safety equipment may be required.
MENTAL AND VISUAL DEMANDS:
Close mental and visual attention required for controlling machines or processes at a rapid pace requiring coordination.

The New York Drug Testing and Research Program (NYDTRP) provides drug testing services for horse racing throughout the state of New York, running a total of around 70,000 samples per year for a wide range of drugs. This is a nationally recognized program that tests blood and urine samples in accordance with the rules and regulations of New York State Racing and Wagering Board. As part of this program, research and development studies are done to keep up with the demand of new and better means of detecting drugs in horses.
Essential Functions:
Perform extraction of horse blood and urine using thin-layer chromatographic and ELISA techniques requiring considerable manual dexterity
