Performs pre-analytic specimen processing, operates a variety of laboratory and office equipment, enters information and test orders into the laboratory computer system and may respond to a high volume of phone calls seeking laboratory testing information. Is responsible for ensuring correct patient identification on specimens and documentation and resolution of pre-analytic specimen-related issues. They are an integral part of the laboratory team providing support in patient testing. May perform complex reagent preparation, manage work unit supply inventory, operate automated systems and provide training to others.

Qualifications
Associate's degree OR High School diploma or equivalent and 2 years work experience including clinical laboratory and/or other relevant experience. Associate's degree in a health or science field preferred. Previous experience or knowledge of computers and keyboarding, telephone operations and other office equipment desired. Ability to accurately read specimen labels and work with numbers to prevent mislabeling. Must be organized, able to prioritize and work in a fast paced environment. The CNP Technologist role is part of our multi-skilled Neurodiagnostic team, performing procedures including Electroencephalography (EEG), Evoked Potentials, Autonomic Testing, and/or Nerve Conduction Studies. Tech I: High School Diploma or GED. Graduate of an accredited institution for neurodiagnostic technology or 2 years equivalent neurodiagnostic tech experience. Associate's degree preferred. Computer skills required. Must have demonstrated communication, problem solving, and organizational ability. Within two years of employment, specific certification through ABRET - Neurodiagnostic Credentialing and Accreditation (R. EEG T., R. EP T., CNIM, CLTM and CAP); Board of Electrodiagnostic Medicine (ABEM; CNCT) and/or AAET - The Nerve Conduction Association (R.NCS.T.) is required in the laboratory of hire. The Registry Examination should be attempted as soon as the employee is eligible. Must have current certification in Basic Life Support.
Tech II: High School Diploma or GED and 3 years of Neurodiagnostics experience. Associate's degree preferred.Computer skills required. Demonstrated leadership abilities including above average communication skills (verbal and written). Demonstrated ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and appropriately interpret information relative to the patient's age-specific needs.Must be a current Registered Neurodiagnostic Technologist to apply. Registries include specific certification through ABRET - Neurodiagnostic Credentialing and Accreditation (R. EEG T., R. EP T., CNIM, CLTM and CAP); American Board of Electrodiagnostic Medicine (ABEM; CNCT) and/or AAET - The Nerve Conduction Association (R.NCS.T.). Must have current certification in Basic Life Support.
Tech III: High School Diploma or GED and 5 years of Neurodiagnostics experience. Associate's degree preferred. Computer skills required. Demonstrated leadership abilities including excellent communication skills (verbal and written). Proven ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and appropriately interpret information relative to the patient's age-specific needs. Obtaining additional credentials is strongly encouraged and preferred.
Must have current certification in Basic Life Support. Must be a current Registered Neurodiagnostic Technologist and have two of the following registries or meet qualifications outlined below for one registry. Registries include specific certification through ABRET - Neurodiagnostic Credentialing and Accreditation (R. EEG T., R. ASCP certification is not required!
What You'll Do:
The Medical Laboratory Scientist demonstrates competency with the full scope of laboratory procedures, chemical, microscopic, bacteriologic, molecular and transfusion medicine. Analyzes information, monitors quality performance and takes action to ensure the efficient delivery of accurate and timely laboratory test results and services. Understands the requirements and standards of regulating agencies and ensures compliance within the laboratory. Delegates and provides clinical laboratory expertise for support staff within the laboratory and provides technical expertise in a manner that promotes collaboration with internal and external customers. Actively seeks education opportunities to learn and stay current in information relevant to the section(s) and participates in initiatives to advance department strategic goals and key operating strategies for the organization.
Primary Responsibilities:
* Perform routine microbiology and some molecular testing
* Responsible for conducting examinations on specimens collected from patients for bacterial, viral, protozoan and fungal infections
* Isolate and make cultures of bacteria or other microorganisms in prescribed media, controlling moisture, aeration, temperature, and nutrition
* Examine physiological, morphological, and cultural characteristics, using a microscope, to identify and classify microorganisms in human specimens
* Identify and isolate infectious disease-causing organisms
* Perform a full range of laboratory tests from simple blood tests to more complex tests
* Recognize unusual antimicrobial susceptibility results and troubleshoot the issue
What's Available:
* Fulltime - 72 hours biweekly (0.9 FTE)
* Day shifts (start between 4a-7:30a) with occasional evening shift (2p-10:30p) and every third weekend rotation. Weekend rotation will be evening shifts
* Starting pay of $29.05 per hour and up, based on your years of experience, along with generous evening and weekend shift differentials
* 8 & 80: paid time and one-half the regular rate for all hours worked over eight in any workday and eighty hours in the fourteen-day period.
What You'll Need:
* Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Technology, Medical Laboratory Science or a related field
* Proficiency in laboratory techniques, including microbiology, specimen processing, and analysis
* Knowledge of medical terminology and laboratory procedures
* Strong attention to detail and ability to work with precision
* Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot technical issues
* ASCP Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) Certification preferred but not required
